Confessions and lies

A loud and persistent knock permeated Becca’s sleep, three days after her confrontation with Dan. She ignored it at first, in the hopes that if she did so long enough, whoever was at the door would go away. No such thing happened though, as the person persisted in knocking until she finally had to stand up grudgingly and pad to the door to open it. She did not know anyone here and had no idea who it might be, but when she got there, she saw that it was Dan’s wife who was standing there with a sheepish smile on her face.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that you were sleeping. I brought some wine, so consider that a peace offering.” Sandra apologized when she noticed that she had woken Becca up from her sleep.
