Moving To College 2
Camilla's Point Of View
It was a fun yesterday.
The farewell party my family organized went off without a hitch. The three days of preparation were not in vain. I couldn't believe my mother planned a large party in just three days. To celebrate with me, my family, friends and closest friends gathered.
The girls and I went to the club two days before yesterday, as arranged. Unexpectedly, my parents decided to let me leave, claiming I was too focused on my books that I didn't enjoy myself much in high school and that they knew it would be the same in college. They let me go to the club for that specific reason. The girls and I had a great time. We drank moderately.
We went shopping the following day, which was enjoyable and then the third day was the farewell party. We had a trip to the college today. We chose to travel by vehicle as the distance was only three hours. Gloria and her parents, along with Beth and her parents, travelled with my family and I in our spacious van. The van was large enough to fit all of us along with our luggage.
As the travel began, everything went without a hitch. We stopped half-way through the trip to purchase refreshments and refuel the vehicle. After everything was finished, we kept travelling. We eventually arrived at our destination.
We all exited the van and began to explore the lovely campus. Like us, students were swarming into what I to be the administrative building. My family started repeating things they've said to me a million times as soon as I turned to face them. They discussed how cautious I should be and such blah blah blah. Their parents were also speaking to Gloria and Beth.
After all was said and done, Beth, Gloria and I processed towards the administration building after saying our good-byes and see you laters to our families and walked towards the administrative building. There was a line when we entered. It wasn't a really long line. We waited in line and I was the last one to go. My pants pocket started vibrating out of the blue. When I took out my phone, I saw that it was mum.
"You forgot something, honey. Come back outside," she said.
I looked at my travel bags and saw they were two, like I left home with.
"I don't think so much. My bags are complete," I replied.
"Just come," she said.
She probably wanted to give me another hug or something, so I rolled my eyes. She just couldn't take it that her baby girl was going to 3hours away from her. I tapped Beth and Gloria telling them I will be back shortly.
"Just be quick so we could all get the same room," Beth urged and I nodded.
They were waiting for me when I came out to where they had packed.
"What did I forget, mum?" I asked, with a smile on my face.
"I brought some lasagna with me for the girls and you."
She motioned for me to take the food bag as she added,
"Have it."
"You didn't have to. Thanks mum," I said, with a smile.
Mum gave me a second hug and the rest of the family followed the site. I was a little embarrassed that they were crying in front of other people but I also got emotional and cried with them. When I eventually returned to the building, the line had dispersed, but Gloria and Beth were still there, waiting for me
"Have you being assigned rooms?" I asked them.
"Yes but its only two people in a room, which implies that you'll have a different roommate," a sad-looking Beth added.
Gloria also appeared dejected but I grinned at them.
"It's okay; the most important thing is that we are still going to see each other every day," I said, trying to cheer them up.
"I'll just ask the lady behind the counter for my room keys," I said.
I approached the employee standing behind the counter. She had braids in her waist-length hair and had a very fair complexion
"Good day," I greeted.
"Good day. How may I help you?" she posed a question, while sporting a stunning smile.
"I'm new here and I want to keep going with my admission requirements and acquire a room," I responded.
"Okay," she replied.
She completed the admission procedures, while asking me a few questions along the way and once everything was over, she gave me a key.
She continued to smile nicely and replied,
"That's your room key,"
"Thank you," I murmured, taking the key from her hands.
I approach my friends and gave them the key. They were still visibly upset that we weren't going to be sharing rooms, but I reassured them nothing would go wrong.
"Let's go check out see your room first," Beth said.
"No I want to visit your rooms first," I said
"Okay," they said and we made our way towards the hostels as the counter lady had directed. When we got to the structure housing the hostel rooms, we began to walk towards Beth's and Gloria's room. It was room number 30.
When we opened the door, a short corridor greeted. We moved along the hallway inspecting the space. The place was tidy and spacious enough to accommodate two people.
On either side of the room were two singles bunk beds. The restroom and bathroom were visible while looking farther into the space. The dorm room was okay.
It was time to go check out my own room. Gloria and Bethe came after me. As soon as we arrived at room 41, which was my room, I pondered why the door appeared to have been opened already. A boy was lying on one of the single bunk beds as I looked into the room. He was listening to music through his AirPods
What is he doing in my room? Who is he?
