Chapter 18: Cheater hidden in the Crowd

Recap:

"Suijin Shimizu. I welcome you to our school as a Class 1a student. On behalf of U.A's staff, we hope you enjoy your hero academia."

"Piercing through the concrete, hitting the sprinkler system, and having it spray on and disable all of the villain bots."

He thought of the interesting examine-no group which achieved this feat and suddenly laughed to himself.

"I can't even give the truth on their points. I mean, who would believe me if I told them that 200 three-pointers were defeated by a four-person team."

Nezu drank with his team as he ordered everything to return to how it was before he came here.

'This year is sure to bring many surprises.'

Inside a dark room, an alarm clock could be heard going off. Obnoxious noise reverberated from it throughout the room; eventually, if this continued, everybody within the vicinity would be woken up.

Just then, a hand underneath a pile of blankets stretched out and slapped the top of the alarm clock, the sound making a crisp smacking noise before the hand drew itself back into its kingdom of heat.

The serine silence of the early morning continued....for about 5 minutes before the noise was once again heard. The hand slipped out once more, intending on replicating its previous actions.

Right when it was about to hit the alarm clock it stopped, its owner seemingly thinking. A deep sigh could be heard within the room before the hand slowly went to the side of the alarm clock and pushed its turn off button, ending the noisy nightmare.

This time, instead of going back to sleep, the hand and its owner slowly pushed off the mountain of covers and comforters before getting up. Suijin Shimizu's face-well spray head was revealed.

He sat on the edge of his bed as he collected his thoughts. It was at this moment that he noticed that it wasn't pitch black outside, slowly, a serene blue crept up upon the borders, threatening the night as daylight would soon descend.

Suijin would've taken in more of the sight, but a feeling of forgetting something nagged him for a moment before he remembered the plans he had scheduled.

"Crap!"

He quickly sprung up and walked over to his desk, quickly putting on his ironed shirt and pants along with a pair of sneakers. Spraying some light cologne, Suijin washed his hands and wiped his head with a hot rag before rushing out of the bathroom.

Quickly descending the stairs, he came into contact with his mother, who had just finished packing his lunch. He'd told her it was a tedious task, but she relented on her opinion.

She'd respond, 'How could I let my son wake up even earlier on his first day of school to pack his lunch when I could easily do it.' And so he had no choice but to relent.

Walking up to her and stuffing his lunch bag into his bag, he quickly mentioned, a quick 'I love you.' hoping this would suffice so he could get out of here quickly as he didnt want to be late.

As mothers often do, she either missed the memo or chose to ignore it as she wrapped her arms around her son.

"My little Suijin, you're already going into high school. Soon you may find a wife, get a job, and then get married. Oohh then I could have grandkids…"

Not wanting to divulge into his mom's fantasies, Suijin quickly replied, "First I have to attend school."

Giving her a light spray on the cheek, which was their way of giving 'kisses' Suijin started out the door before he heard her say, "Have a great first day."

Suijin then started down the road while grumbling to himself.

'Why did she want to meet this early?'

Suijin checked his phone and confirmed it was 6:28.

With the weather being only a bit cloudy and it still being early in the day, Suijin encountered little obstacles, allowing him to arrive at his destination only 3 minutes late.

Walking into the place Suijin was momentarily blinded by the lights, which seemed to illuminate this tiny world. Seats and booths filled the desolate store, with only three figures seen inside.

"Hey Mina, sorry for being late."

Bowing his head slightly, Suijin took off his jacket and bag and placed them next to him in the remaining vacant area of the booth he had to himself.

Taking the time to look up, he took in the figures of Mina and Kirisihima, whom he'd both met the other day and who were wearing the same uniform as him.

'U.A.' He said it in his mind, as if to remind himself that he was actually a student at that prestigious school.

"No problem, I'm just glad you showed up…"

Mina deliberately stopped, as if waiting for someone to prod on and inquire more. Suijin, deciding to humor her, gave her what she wanted.

"Just showed up?"

Mina's face couldn't help but contort as she thought about her other two cancellations.

She said stiffly, "Yuga couldn't be bothered to come because he apparently needed his "beautiful sleep."

Suijin suspected the first part to be her own words.

"And Tsu said that she couldn't, as she didn't want to appear grumpy in the morning.…did you know that as I prodded her on, she told me that she used to be a Nightcrawler. Her parents slowly domesticated her, and so…"

Suijin listened to the rambling of the person opposite him, tuning in when hearing weird words or phrases like domesticated and the like.

Finally, seeing that both her guests weren't very attentive, Mina became flustered.

"...Sorry for talking too much…." Her voice slowly trailed off until nothing was heard. Before Suijin could give his response, she quickly shifted the topic to something else.

"I forgot to introduce you, but this is my friend Enjirou Kirisima."

Seeing her beaming smile, Suijin didn't want to rain on her parade, so he tactfully decided to stay silent since he and Enjirou had already met.

Unfortunately, the other male didn't seem to hold the same thought as he said, "Shimizu Suijin, right? I met him during the entrance exam."

The table returned to silence as nobody apparently had something to talk about. Amidst this awkward atmosphere, a waiter walked over and stood in front of their table.

"Can I get you anything today?"

Kirishima used this moment to take a look at the menu as he subconsciously spoke his thoughts aloud.

"I'm not too sure what I should get-"

"Can I interest you in the protein pancakes."

The waiter had an unusually bright smile on his face, and if Suijin hadn't remembered the law against free quirk usage (which he'd broken a few times), he'd have suspected a quirk was involved.

"I'm not sure-"

"Please trust me, sir, they are VERY good."

Compelled by being repeatedly interrupted and his shy personality coming through, the red-haired boy shrank back and replied in a weak voice,

"I gues-"

"And for you, ma'am."

Once confirming Kirishima's order, the waiter turned to Mina with an unnatural speed. Unlike Kirishima, Mina didn't seem to be affected as she replied with her predetermined choice.

"I'll have a croissant covered in blueberry syrup with strawberries lining the side, In addition to that, I'll have your meat-filled omelet with my side being a side of avocados. Oh, and in addition to that, for my drink, I'd like-"

Suijin heard an audible inhalation as Mina took in a breath of air. "I'd like a grande Caramel Macchiato in a venti cup, with 1/3 whole milk, 1/3 almond milk, and 1/3 soy milk, double the amount of vanilla syrup, a caramel wall in the cup, no caramel drizzle on top, upsidown, tall cup ice, whipped cream, rounded lid, 1 shot extra espresso (decaf), cinnamon sprinkled on top"

Mina's order took the waiter more than a minute to write down, once he was done, although his amicable smile remained, the twitching of his eyebrows suggested otherwise.

"Is that all, ma'am."

What was obviously a rhetorical question wasn't seen as such, much to the horror of the waiter, Mina, who actually put on a thoughtful expression.

"No, actually you can take off that last drink and make it a water instead."

If only those paying attention to the waiter had noticed his oddity before, it was now obvious. His face turned brighter as his entire face twitched like crazy.

Just as Suijin thought he'd burst from holding in such anger, the waiter returned to normal and gave a quick, perfunctory thank you before turning to himself.

Not willing to anger him further, Suijin ordered an omelet filled with meats, vegetables, and fruits along with some coffee. The waiter left with a now disgusted expression rather than an angry one.

Suijin and Kirishima approached Mina, expecting her to explain her performance, but she only said, "It doesn't matter." before talking about their teachers, with Kirishima occasionally joining in.

Then the waiter returned with their food and served it on the table. Instantly, the bland atmosphere of the diner was transformed into a gourmet buffet.

Both the others dug into their food while Suijin took out his blender and plugged it into the plug that was under their table.

Then he grabbed the omelet filled to the brim along with the avocados, bananas on the side, and finally his coffee before pouring it all into the blender.

Mina went wide eyed as she saw the huge waste of food. She subconsciously wanted to speak, but Kirishima spoke first.

"Bro, is that the ultimate protein shake?"

He momentarily put down his fork as he thought of trying out what Suijin did. The person in question, getting a chance to shine, used this moment to talk about one of the lesser known perks of his quirk.

"As you see with this quirk, there's no opening for a mouth. So I have to blend everything I eat until it's like a liquid that my hands can suck through my body."

"But with so much excess, wouldn-"

"Yes, you're right."

Suijin didn't even think about the fact that he cut off Kirishima, who ended up being cut off for the third time today.

"I can control where the energy I intake in my body goes, allowing me to designate the right amount to the right areas and... "

Suijin, in his fervor, suddenly took a look at Mina, who was interested in his conversation, and quickly decided to rethink his words.

"I can "deal" with the remaining fat, energy, and other things." Kirihsima nodded before appearing deflated as his thoughts of replicating this evaporated. His mind had fantasized about what this meant.

As long as one knew the amounts needed, they could essentially control their body to a tee, they could get the maximum amount of energy from each meal while getting rid of the excess fat, letting them stay in perfect shape.

Suijin felt like bragging after the work he'd been doing over the past ten months. It wasn't just hero training or detective skills, his father taught him this ability, which was apparently the reason he remained so fit.

With it Suijin remained fit, getting rid of the excess blubber he had around his stomach and making a faint six-pack appear.

The rest of the meal was Suijin downing the drink by sucking it in quickly and the others finishing quickly so they could leave.

After leaving a hefty tip for the poor worker who'd Suijin discovered was the only one working, meaning he made their food, opened the table, and waited for them, they arrived at the H shaped building, which left a deep impression on Suijin.
