Chapter 35: A Hitch

Recap:

'This monster, He's the one made-'

"Meet our All-Might killer, now die!""

The hand once again strangled out, and the proximity was even closer, meaning there was no time to react even if he could get over the same paralyzing fear his classmate had felt.

*SHHHHNNNGGGG*

Faster than he saw, faster than the dumb, brained monster whose senses had been enhanced could perceive, and faster than their ears registered.

'Something-'

A flash of light passed through the man's hand; a gaping hole was left in its wake; the ground was cut open; and blood spurted from the wound.

Though he was now saved, the number one thought in the young man's mind was, 'Who?'

Suijin was walking down the mountain; he'd steer clear of the path where he assumed the villains were "dropped," as he felt he had enough PTSD for one day.

Moving along the path, he defeated any villains he encountered. They didn't even know what hit them, as they instantly had their entire world filled with white.

In his hazy mind, Suijin didn't consider the consequences of his actions, which could lead to their deaths if his shot power or placement were not at the rest angle.

'Why…no let's not think of that right now.'

The boy had better things to focus on at the moment; he didn't want to consider why, and he didn't want to remember her eyes.

The slight shaking, the look of fear, the look of hatred, and the look of anger blended together within his mind; fear, disgust, anger, filth—all of them became a mix as the boy perceived them.

He knew that most of it wasn't directed at him, that it was mostly the moment that caused them, but the thought that someone he considered a friend.

A close confidant that Suijin has been warming up to, someone who, although he wouldn't like to admit it since he had proclaimed himself to be a person who holds people at arms length, had become a big part of his life,

Her radiating kindness, neverending energy, and peppy smile had brought out a beacon of light the previous man had cast away.

Having such a pillar look at him that way, giving him that look that random strangers he passed by on the street did, it hurt.

He wanted to ask why.

What did he do to deserve their stares?

Who decided that because of his appearance he should be Hated? Loathed? Looked at as if he were filthy?

When did the unanimous decision on how he should be treated come to a conclusion?

But he was also afraid, afraid that the people he trusts deeply and looks up to, not just Mina but Shoji, All Might, and Kirishima even, would end up affriming what he hoped to be misguided suspicion, the parinoa talking.

The brightness of the light that brought him out of himself was unbelievable, which made the darkness that held no one all the more frightening.

'Ah-I ended up thinking about it anyways….After this, I'll make it up to her; I'll prepare a big apology, and everything will end up fine. I should have at least that much trust in her…right? Yeah, things will be fine…-hopefully.'

Suijin had walked onto another mountain, this one right across from the water area, where the rock was firmer than the previous one.

He believed he had cleared all of the villains within his immediate area. But looking up, he saw a small figure in the water zone.

'Are those my classmates?' He couldn't see, as the distance easily spanned hundreds of meters.

He searched through his pocket and picked out a pouch his dad had reminded him to pack before he left.

Heaving a dry--hollow chuclke Suijin thought,

'At least there's one thing that's going my way here.'

His dad had told him to bring a monocular telescope, a cheap but effective pair he bought for his own heroic endeavors but eventually felt out of favor and became obsolete.

Using it and looking ahead, Suijin saw a few figures: the misty man who teleported them, the villain who appeared in the portal, and an unknown bird monster.

A hand was heading towards Tsu's face, and instantly Suijin categorizes them as villains.

'I can't get there in time!'

Once again, in times of peril, his dad came to the rescue, a memory from a week ago came to the forefront of his mind.

'Suijin, when you're too far from your enemy, use this position. Remember, you'll be immobile when it's in use, so use it sparingly.'

The name of the move was Spray Sniper!

Getting on the ground, Suijin laid on his stomach as he held his head with his hands, having them act as stablaisers.

Between his Pinky and Ring fingers, he held the monocular telescope, steadying it along with his breathing.

He saw his teacher glare at the man, and the man glanced back. Suijin guessed the situation simultaneously, lining up his nozzle and fixing his aim.

'That man can deal damage to Tsu once he connects his palm with a body part. Teach is stopping the villain's quirk, but that should last for more than a second with that huge thing being right there.'

Meaning Suijin had less than a second to act, not accounting for travel time.

The Wind was at an all-time low compared to before, and there was nothing in the path stopping him.

'It's now or never.'

*Press*

The motion of his trigger pressing down and his nozzle being opened as a long Torrent of water shot out

Suijin couldn't make any mistakes as he had people in close proximity he had to protect, meaning no burst, only one shot, one chance.

The jet glided through the air, Suijin's breath hitched the moment he pressed down...but that was the problem.

.

.

.

His small breathing hitch knocked the shot off balance, not by much initially, but it added up as the shot took longer.

It moved and crossed the distance, but when it hit , he mentally clicked his tongue.

'I intended to use a more blunt shot to injure his wrist and dislocate the bone, preventing him from using his quirk.'

But the slight direction change made the shot end up in the palm, and the indecision in Suijin's mind at a split second caused the shot to be slightly stronger than he intended.

The result was that the torrent tore through the villain's hand, and Tsu got blasted by some water and blood, which luckily had reduced velocity and force.

Suijin was happy. Sure, he had been more violent than he intended, but he saved his classmate.

But the eyes of the monster on him cause Suijin's soul to freze in fear.

His target said a word he didn't make out, then instantly that thing locked eyes with him.

'I need to ru-'

A force to his chin area sent his head upwards and his body flying off the mountain.

'How?!'

It didn't matter as his consciousness got hazy; in less than a few seconds, he went from the pressure of his shot, to the glory of saving someone, to the humiliation of defeat.

His eyes grew hazy as Suijin's world turned white, and right when he was about to conck out, he heard the famous line,

"I AM HEAR!" The words felt less meaningful, more hollow, without the All Migthy feeling.

He was held in some arms, and that was the last sensation his brain registered as Suijin having been knocked out.
