Black Prompt

At breakfast, news of Mr. Hughes's death came from Mrs. Hughes. Following that, everyone found that Jester was also dead. The two were both in the same state as Gio's corpse, with slits on their throats.

Everyone was finally convinced the townspeople were out to kill them all and the town was not safe.

They were in a panic, gathering their belongings as they all scrambled and tried to escape.

Of course, there was no way the townspeople would let them.

"What are you trying to do with us?! Let us leave!" Mr. Simpson was about to go crazy from fear and panic. He aggressively swung the suitcase in his hand, hitting the group that was blocking their path.

On the side, Chris and Stephan had somehow gotten hold of a knife. With the weapon in their hand, they slashed at the townspeople.

The townspeople were not made of iron to stand by and watch themselves get hurt but the mayor clearly told them not to kill the sacrifices. As a result, they can only wrestle with the three men.

It was early in the morning and chaos was already erupting in the lobby.

Charlie didn't want to get hurt so she moved to a corner with her back against the wall, appearing scared as she put her hand on her womb.

The situation was beginning to escalate to a greater height. The other three women who were slow to move found themselves caught up in the chaos, unable to do anything but use the little strength they got.

At this time, Andrew appeared from the back of the lobby with a flustered man.

"We should have just tied them from the beginning. Look at the chaos they made."

Andrew remained calm. "Have you gotten what I told you to get?"

"Yes. It's here. What are you going to do with it?"

Andrew didn't respond, taking a gun and stepping on the front desk. After spotting the three main causes of the trouble, he pulled the trigger thrice, hitting them in either hand or feet.

His shooting was astonishingly accurate. The three hadn't responded to the sound of the gun yet when they instantly let go of what they were holding, covering their hands or feet as they groaned in pain.

The townspeople saw this and quickly took the weapon they dropped, restraining them along with the four women and ending this farce.

Stopping the bleeding from his wound with his hand, Chris looked at where the bullet came from and found Andrew. He gritted his teeth, cursing. "You!"

Andrew leisurely sat on the front desk, dangling his feet as he asked, "Why are the guests so much in a hurry to leave? Did the town's service disappoint you?"

Mr. Simpson had yet to recover from the pain. Hearing Andrew speak, he screeched, "What f*cking service?! Killing us?"

Andrew smiled, making the group feel cold.

Chris threatened, "Don't think you can kill us just because you want to. I told everyone that I am coming here before I left. If I suddenly died, you're not going to get away from the investigation!"

Andrew was still smiling, speaking without much concern, "Then, it can't be helped."

The group had yet to understand what he meant when the townspeople swiftly tied them up and covered their nose with a knock-out drug, making them lose consciousness while they struggled.

Andrew saw that the guests had already been knocked out and ordered everyone to take them into the car except Charlie who he carried himself into another car.

The driver had been waiting outside. Seeing Andrew coming, he hurriedly offered help.

"It's fine. She's not heavy."

Saying that he carried Charlie to the backseat, letting her head pillow his lap to make her more comfortable while securing her body with his arms.

The driver got into the driver's seat and saw the two's intimate posture but didn't comment, starting the car and heading to the mayor's residence. In any case, this wasn't his concern. Better not say anything.

Opening his eyes, Kai found himself in what seemed to be a guest room. Did the townspeople send them somewhere after making them unconscious?

He looked around, not finding anyone.

The script told him to get down the bed and open the door so he did.

A young boy was guarding outside. Seeing Charlie wanting to come out, he hurriedly stopped her. "Sister, you're not allowed to come out yet. Wait until midnight."

As he talked, his hands move to gently but firmly push Charlie inside, not giving her time to talk before she was locked back inside.

Kai was at a loss, looking blankly at the door. He wanted to curse.

Is he seriously being locked in a room? Then, how the hell was he supposed to move forward with his task? Are they going to wait in place like yesterday again?

As he finished his thought, a black prompt appeared in his vision.

[ Your character is scheduled to die in three hours. ]

[ Please complete your task as soon as possible. ]

Kai blanked out for a moment before he jolted in shock. It's still so early, don't death prompts appear at night?!

Looking at that the timer that was already moving, he didn't have enough time to think. It seems he can only rely on the free pass.

With Charlie's phone in hand, he went to the door, knocking on it hard.

There was no response on the other side but a red prompt appeared on Kai's screen, showing an OOC warning.

Second later, excruciating pain hit Kai. This time even ten times more intense than before— The rough hand slowly pulling out all his insides had now been added with knives carving on his body, the acid soaking him had been combined with burning lava, and the force squishing all his bones had squished his soul along with it.

Kai was unable to contain his cry. He rolled on the floor, howling like mad. He wanted to faint a couple of times but the torturous pain stopped him. Kai didn't know if he should be thankful for that or what.

He didn't know how many times he rolled on the floor.

Finally, the pain which seemed to go on for a century ended after a minute. OOC warnings were like this. Not only is the second more painful than the first, but it was also twice longer.

Kai suddenly regretted acting out of character two days ago. If only he waited for today, he wouldn't suffer this much.

He slumped on the ground, not wanting to move. In fact, if not for the timer for Charlie's death showing in front of him, he really didn't want to get up.

The door was locked from the outside and cannot be opened. Kai had no choice but to look for another way. Fortunately, the room wasn't closed off and there was a window facing the door.

Kai only realized after lifting the window curtains and looking at the darkness outside that the time was no longer early.

It seems the knockout drug made him sleep for the whole day. No wonder his death prompt came at this time.

Opening the window and looking down from the room, Kai gasped as he realized he was actually in the attic. Looking back at the room with a square ceiling, he complained, "The attic can actually look like this when it clearly has two slanted roofs outside. Where is the logic?"

Thankfully, this illogical structure just made it easier for Kai.

Raising his right foot and putting it on the windowsill, his hand reached the window's frame. Borrowing the strength from his feet and hands, he lifted his body.

Kai was still feeling weak from earlier but the thirty minutes rest gave him some energy at least.

Due to Charlie wearing a flowing dress, Kai's movements were unrestrained. He easily came outside.

The night was a full moon. The moonlight gave Kai just enough visibility.

Right below the attic window was another window of another room. Further down was the roof of the veranda.

The window was currently closed but it gave Kai something to step on so that he wouldn't land directly on the veranda's roof.

Following this, he went to the windows on the second floor and tried to find one that is open.

There were three windows on this side including the one directly below the attic which was in the middle, all of which were double-hung windows. Both the middle and right windows were closed tightly from the inside and only the window on the left can be barely opened.

With force, Kai directly broke the left window and struggled to get inside.

However, as soon as his upper body got in and he got a clear vision of the room's insides, Mayor Turner's face greeted his eyes, scaring him to almost dying for the second time.

The usefulness of the 'invisibility' that came with his free pass was finally displayed at this time. Mayor Turner was like a blind person unable to see Kai who was right in front of her face, not to mention notice her window that had been murdered.

Kai let go of his breath. Borrowing Mayor Turner's body for support, he raised his lower body that was still outside.

Mayor Turner did not react at all to being treated like this. Her body didn't even budge, as if rooted in place.

Successfully coming in, Kai went around Mayor Turner and had a clear look at the room.

The room had a white ceiling and pink walls, very unlikely to belong to Mayor Turner. Looking around, Kai's attention was caught by the picture frame beside the bed.

The room only had dim lighting coming from the bedside lamp. Kai was unable to see the person in the picture so he got closer.

The person in the photo was a beautiful young woman in her early twenties, looking at the camera with a bright smile with the mayor's residence in the background.

Kai was surprised, at the same time he wasn't.

He was not unfamiliar with this woman. He had just seen her when he looked in the mirror yesterday.

That's right. The woman in the photo is Micah and from what it seems, she was also the mayor's daughter, Micaela. This now explains Mayor Turner's attitude towards Charlie as well as possibly the townspeople.
