Chapter 10: Greg's POV

I had never lacked sleep like this, I hardly slept all night all I did was turning around in bed a thousand times. That's why at 5:30 am I was in the hotel gym. I had hoped to let off steam on the punching bag and release the pressure like that, but even that hadn't worked. Miss Wyatt's indignant face kept popping into my head. I felt guilty for having kissed her, even though I was dying to and that when our lips touched it was divine.

I had never felt what I felt with another woman. And yet I had had my share of women so far, but none had had this effect on me.

When I got back to the hotel yesterday, I called my psychotherapist. I absolutely had to ask someone for advice.

It's what she told me that kept me awake at night. According to her, I had three contradictory emotions: attraction, frustration and guilt and I had to get rid of them all. And put my head in order.

She had explained to me that the attraction I had for Miss Wyatt was perhaps due to the fact that no woman before her had ever resisted me, so I would be attracted to the unknown. The frustration was because I always liked to be in control and with Miss Wyatt, I had no control at anything. And then finally the guilt was because I had the impression that by kissing her, I had treated her like all the other women with whom I had had affairs, and that I had broken all her principles. She had made me understand that I was the only one to decide what I had to do. And until now I was still confused.

Back from the gym, I rushed to take a shower, and I stayed there for a while. It was only when I heard my phone ringing that I got out. It was Matt, my childhood friend, he was also the only friend I had.

"Hello !" I picked up.

"How are you, old man?"

"Well, how is New York?"

"It's not terrible. Look, I have to tell you something"

"Go ahead tell me!"

"Yesterday I had dinner with my dad. And it turns out that he came from the meeting of the shareholders of the company."

Matt's father was also a shareholder of Davis Energy Co.

"There was a meeting? Why didn't anyone tell me?" I was the head of the company, so normally I should be informed of this kind of meeting and attend it. So it was suspicious that they didn't tell me.

"If they didn't tell you, it's because the meeting was about you. According to my father, these meetings are to study your abilities to run the company. And it could be that most them would agree to impeach you and put someone else in your place."

"Let me guess, someone else would be one of them?"

"I think so too. Look Greg, I know this business isn't your dream, but it's your legacy and if my dad told me it's because he wanted me to tell you for so you can take action, he told me they have another meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m. I think you should drop by and put them all in their place."

This company was created by my grandfather, then my father took over when my grandfather retired. My father had made it more prosperous than it was in my grandfather's day. From a very young age, I knew that one day it would be my turn. And my father prepared me accordingly.

After the death of my grandfather, I discovered that he had bequeathed me a considerable sum of money, with which I was able to open my first nightclub. I was only 17 then, then two years later I opened another and then another, that's how I built my own name. Having nightclubs all over the world forced me to always travel. I got used to that life and I loved it. That's why when my dad died it was a big blow. I had to assume the responsibilities that were mine, which was not easy because the shareholders were not at all enthusiastic about the idea that I could run the company.

But this business belonged to my family and I intended to honor my legacy no matter what.

When I hung up, I immediately called Sean to ask him to prepare the jet. At 2 p.m. we took off for New York.
