Chapter 8

Claire was waiting for Jasmine at the movie theatre, they had planned to watch a movie, Claire sighed, she was waiting for Jasmine for the past thirty minutes, Claire tried to call Jasmine once again but she didn't answer the phone.

Suddenly, she got a text from Jasmine, Claire groaned, she was getting a bit angry, 'How can Jasmine cancel the plan now, then too making her wait for so long.'

Claire got out of the theatre, she took a cab and made her way towards her apartment, when she reached, she payed the cab driver and made her way in the building, "Claire!" Someone shouted making Claire turn to the person who called her.

"Jake." Claire said and smiled at him, he was running towards her, "Where were you, I wanted to talk to you about something." Jake said, breathing heavily,

"What did you want to talk about?" Claire asked in confusion.

Jake was about to say something but stopped, when he noticed Claire, she was wearing a black dress, that reached till her knees, her dragon shape eyes, with her hazel orbs were the best combination. Her brown hair that reached till her waist were in a messy bun making her look more beautiful.

"Jake, uh...Jake!" Claire shouted, snapping her fingers in front of his face, "Huh.." Jake said in confusion, "Where are you lost?" Claire asked, she was calling him for quite sometime.

"Oh....I-I was just thinking about something." Jake stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment.

"What did you wanted to talk about?" Claire asked, she was wearing heels and standing in them was becoming uncomfortable.

"Let's have a coffee, while we talk." Jake suggested, making Claire nod her head, and both of them went to have a coffee.

"So, what do you want to tell me?" Claire asked she became more curious when she saw Jake smiling.

"It's a good news for you." Jake replied sipping his coffee, "I talked to the owner and convinced her, so now...."

"So, now what?" Claire asked, gulping in excitement, "You can join from tomorrow."

"Really?" Claire shouted getting up from the chair making Jake chuckle, he nodded his head, and smiled at her.

Claire thanked him once again before leaving from there, she had a real smile on her face after a long time.

When she was in front of the apartment, she sighed when she remembered how Jasmine ditched her at the last moment, sighing she went inside.

Her eyes widen when she saw Jasmine sitting on the couch sniffing loudly.

"What happened?" Claire shouted, making Jasmine notice her, "Why are you crying?" Claire asked sitting beside her, worriedly.

"B-Bella, W-We have to leave this apartment." Jasmine said crying loudly, making Claire widen her eyes in shock, "What, but why?"

"Because.... I lost my job." Jasmine replied, her eyes were swollen from all the crying.

"Was it because of that guy?" Claire asked, even though she knew, it was definitely because of that man in the party, whom she had a fight with.

Jasmine nodded her head, "But why do you have to leave this apartment?" Claire asked in confusion.

"It's because now I don't have money to pay for the rent." Jasmine said, making Claire sigh, she knew she didn't have a job but, it hurt her that her best friend doesn't think she could help her at all.

"Let's talk about it tomorrow." Claire said, Jasmine had stopped crying and went inside her room.

Claire took a shower to relax her mind, when she was done, she changed her clothes and sat on her bed, she knew with the job at the coffee shop she won't be able to pay rent for the apartment or any other expenses.

Claire groaned in frustration, her phone started ringing beside her, when she saw who the caller was, she took a deep breath to calm herself, "What do you want?" Claire said in an irritated tone.

"Is this the way to talk to your mother?" Maria said sweetly, Claire was already getting angry, but was trying not to let it out.

"Step-mother." Claire stated, "Whatever." She heard Maria muttered.

"Why, did you call?" Claire asked, she already has a lot on her mind, she don't want more drama right now.

"I want something from you." Maria said, Claire was getting a bad feeling about this, Maria is asking her for something that definitely means a bad thing.

"What have you done this time." Claire asked, "Can you lend me three thousand dollars?" Maria asked, Claire's eyes widen in shock, here she didn't even have hundred dollar, and this woman wanted three thousand dollars.

"Why do you need such a big amount of money?" Claire asked even though she had an idea why Maria wants money.

"You already know, now tell me will you give me the money or not?"

"I don't have that much of money for now." Claire said, "Just tell me the truth, you don't want to help me." Maria said sarcastically.

"I really don't have that much of money, Maria!" Claire shouted at her, this woman is so selfish, Claire thought.

"Then why don't you participate in that contest, at least once you become famous, it will be helpful for us." Maria said sarcastically making Claire roll her eyes.

Claire cut the call, and sighed even though she knew Maria was being sarcastic with her, the idea of participating in the contest will surely give her a bit money.

Claire took her laptop and started to search for all the information was there on the contest, she sighed when she saw tomorrow was the last day to register for the contest.

Claire chuckled remembering, how last night she was calling that guy a psycho and now, she was about to do something, which she never thought she would.

She closed her eyes for a bit and took a deep breath, she knew her friend needed help, she knew she needed this house, even though she don't like Maria she wanted to help her, all this made her sigh and she finally decided.

She will participate in the contest, she opened the text that had the link and taking a deep breath she clicked on it.
