Chapter 72

Claire was impressed how good Jason was with words, she couldn't help but smile, he was trying to help her ease the nervousness, but she was still tensed, "Don't think that your words are that helpful."

"But I'm sure they are a little helpful." Jason said confidently, Claire just rolled her eyes, "You know you're not that good at trying to lighten the mood!" Claire sarcastically replied.

Jason just shook his head at her sarcastic remark, "That's the reason I have a friend like Austin, who can lighten up anyone's mood within seconds."

Claire suddenly felt guilty for saying that to him, she thought maybe her words made him sad, "I didn't mean to be rude, sorry."

"Don't be sorry for being honest, I know what you said was true." Jason exclaimed, he knew that he wasn't good at helping people emotionally and what Claire said didn't affect him at all.

He just wanted her to concentrate on facing grandma for now, "Let me tell you, grandma might get a bit angry on you, so please don't feel bad."

Claire glared at him and said, "You know there's not a single person, who won't feel bad if someone gets angry on them without their fault!" She didn't know what to do, it was Jason's fault that he didn't tell Grandma Scarlett about this and now he wants her to help him.

The drive till Jason's house was completely quiet, both of them decided to keep their mouths shut as they didn't want the other person to get angry.

Jason texted someone in the meantime, soon they were at the parking lot and saw someone standing in front of a car, he looked quite familiar to Claire, she couldn't see him properly because the lights were dim at the place where he was standing.

"Is that Austin?" She inquired, "Hmm...I just texted him, we need someone who can lighten up the mood!" Jason said the same thing she told him minutes ago, "I never knew you were someone who holds grudges."

Jason looked at her and smirked, "Let me tell you, I'm someone who might hold a grudge till my next life!"

Claire couldn't help but giggle, "Then I have to be careful not do anything that might make you want to follow me in my next life." Jason was looking at her closely, for the first time he was noticing her smile was beautiful.

A knock on the window of the car startled Claire, she turned towards it to see Austin standing there asking them to get out of the car.

"Who takes so long to get out of the car?" He asked, removing his black sunglasses, "I don't know about that, but who wears sunglasses when there is no sign of sun rays?"

Clair e questioned him, who was looking like he was about to start partying right there, he was wearing a red cherry colour suit with a silver chain in his neck, his hair were pushed back perfectly styled.

"Where are you coming from looking like tomato soup?"

Jason laughed loudly when Claire called him that, "Rather than asking me, where I'm coming from, why don't you ask me where I was going and what I'm doing here?"

"Don't be dramatic now!" Jason said as he came and stood beside Claire, "Wow! Now I'm the one who's dramatic, you should be thankful that I'm here to help you both." Austin said.

"Enough both of you, we should go inside... grandma might be waiting." Claire said, nervousness was evident in her voice.

Both of them nodded and went towards the elevator.

Standing in front of the door all three of them were hoping the other person might ring the bell, "Jason it's your house, ring it!" Austin said, he didn't even know why he agreed to be there to support them.

Claire and Austin turned to look at him, Jason was already nervous and their stares were not helping, he knew he didn't have any option so he just ringed the bell.

To their surprise Phil opened the door, "Phil what are you doing here?" Jason asked, "Mrs. Kenwood had some work for me." He replied, Jason was confused, Grandma Scarlett didn't say anything to him.

Claire was walking behind Jason and Austin who were talking to Phil about some work, "You're late!" Grandma Scarlett's voice made Claire shiver, she was definitely scared to meet her as tried to hide behind Jason.

"Where is your girlfriend?" Grandma asked the question she was desperately waiting to know, she was sitting on the couch a frown was on her face, making the fine lines on her forehead more visible, "Grandma at least let me take a breath."

"Don't give me excuses, just let me see her!" She could see a silhouette behind him, "You should come out, there is no need to hide." Grandma said curtly, which sounded more like an order.

Claire gulped in fear and came out from behind Jason, "Claire! Don't tell me you are the girl?" Shock wasn't even the word, she wanted to use to describe what was the look on Grandma's face.

"Hi grandma!" Claire wasn't even sure what she was doing anymore, her mind was completely blank now.

"Aren't you happy grandma, that she is your grandson's girlfriend!" Austin interrupted them, as he tried to joke.

Which was a bad idea as grandma glared at him, "Grandma aren't you happy?" Jason asked he knew he was the one who creates all this problem, but hurting her was the last thing he wanted to do.

"Honestly, I'm happy but both of you can't change the fact that I'm also very angry!"

Jason and Claire nodded, but Claire wanted to tell her that all this was completely Jaaon fault she had no idea about this.

"I know grandma, I'm really sorry about that."

"And Claire I didn't expect that you won't tell me about dating him!"

Claire walked towards her and said, "Grandma I had no idea that he didn't tell you about us." Jason widens his eyes, "What a traitor!" He whispers to himself.

Grandma glared at Jason who looked away from her feeling guilty and scared. "I can forgive both of you if you answer my question honestly."

Claire glanced at Jason who looked as tensed as she was, 'What is grandma going to ask?' She wonders.
