Levizla's POV.
Damn you, William Lector. This boy's talent was suppose to be mine, and now you're trying to convince him of devoting his time teaching snot nosed brats one of the greatest magical discovery the world has ever seen. Those fools wouldn't know how to use it. Besides, your class is focused on light magic, not non-attribute magic like flesh magic. I need to do something before he get's pulled in by the sweet promises of this idiot over here. Before I could however, Selk gave his answer to prof. Lector.
Selk: "I'm really flattered that you would consider me talented enough to teach along side you, prof. Lector, but I don't think I have the mental fortitude to teach multiple people all at once just yet. Besides, I would like to enjoy my time here along side my teammates for a little longer. My apologies, and I hope you'd understand."
Selk said as he smiled at the eager prof. Lector.
Prof. Lector: "B-but why? I hear you would really like to start your own clinic as soon as possible. This wouldn't just fast tract your career and dreams, but also help other flesh mages like you who are struggling to prove their worth. Wont you please reconsider."
The annoying Prof. Lector said, pleading to Selk for a chance to get his way. I can certainly understand Prof. Lector's feelings. This kid has knowledge that can change the course of this nation's history, but that knowledge is for my research's benefit and no one else's. A mind like his should be focused on perfecting the Life Creation magic along side me. Together, we will be hailed as the duo who changed the world. While I was busy with my day dreams however, Selk gave his reply.
Selk: "I'm pretty sure you've seen my records by now, and know that I was drafted in the war six years ago. I was eleven back then, and since that time, all I did was devote myself in helping our troops and doing everything I can to save people. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my kingdom, but I feel that I have done more than enough for me to live out the rest of my youth in enjoyment with my friends. There would be plenty of time for me to fulfil my dreams, but right now, these precious moments with my friends are what matters."
Selk: "However, I will make a compromise. Every Saturday, I can hold up a lecture to anyone that is willing to learn more about flesh magic. I will even give you a copy of how to craft the magic circle for creating the temporary soul stone, along with the list of monsters they must touch to make it. Would that be okay with you, prof. Lector?"
Selk said, willing to compromise with the clearly desperate Prof. Lector. A copy of magic circle crafting for that soul stone would be invaluable for my research. I might ask for one myself.
Prof. Lector: "It would appear that there's no changing your mind. Very well. I will relent on convincing you to be a teacher, but your compromise of holding a lecture for students on a Saturday is more than welcome. If it wouldn't be too much of a burden however, could you also draft out a lesson plan on top of the copy of magic circle crafting? It's to make sure that other teachers will be able to hold the same type of lectures you will give in the future."
Prof. Lector seemed to have given up on convincing young Selk here on becoming a teacher like us, and has now compromised in just the lectures Selk promised. I thanked my lucky stars as well. I'll be able to monopolize him and his boundless powers further. With the agreed terms set by both parties, the annoying William Lector finally left my class.
Since my class has been fully disrupted by the unwanted presence of that annoying professor, I had to move on with the introduction of the other brats in my class. Most of them are unremarkable. Just your typical rich brat family life that I've heard of ever since I started teaching here. This made me want to hear more about Selk's magic techniques, which I'm sure he has numerous of.
I then proceeded with today's lesson of advance magic manipulation. I'm sure Selk and the heroes are quite familiar with these already and doesn't even need a refresher lesson. In fact, two of the three heroes aren't even paying attention to my lessons.
Vina Rockforth, just stared at Selk with an eerie smile akin to those of love sick animal, obsessed with a passion no normal folk could ever hope to understand. And Gilbert Alzar, who is also staring at Selk, but with a mixture of hate and admiration that is hard to describe. I wonder what sort of relationship these two might have with Selk?
I completed the first two hours of today's lesson, and sent the brats out to lunch, but not before asking Selk to stay for a few minutes. After the other brats left, only Selk was left along side Vina Rockforth and her female attendant for some reason.
Vina: "With all due respect, Prof. Levizla, but what would your business with Sir Selk be?"
Ms. Rockforth asked me rather pointedly. It's obvious to me now that she is either Selk's lover, or someone wishing to be. It's understandable that even the powerful Hero of Light would become attracted to someone like Selk, who is power personified.
Levizla: "I'm truly sorry for keeping you and your boyfriend Selk from enjoying your lunch together, but I was just hopping that he could also give me a copy of the crafting sequence of the magic circle you're intending to give Prof. Lector. I find the chance of reviewing this kind of magic fascinating to be honest."
Vina: "B-b-b-b-b-boyfriend!? I-is it that obvious? I-I-I guessed it can't be help, right Selk, my darling. Please help the kind teacher out."
Ms. Rockforth said as she hugged Selk's right arm tenderly. Selk responded by flicking her forehead and telling me "We're not a couple." Even her attendant is looking at her with judging eyes as Ms. Rockforth rubbed her flicked forehead with a sad look on her face. Selk then agreed to my request and I let them continue on their marry way. I can't wait to see what type of magic a being like he has come up with. The excitement I felt was so great, I had no choice but to hold myself and tremble in delight. Hurry, Selk. Hurry and give me what I desire.
Selk's P.O.V.
It's finally lunch time, and I welcome it wholeheartedly. That exchange with prof. Lector really drained me mentally. He offered me something that I've wanted for so long, A chance to fast tract my clinic owner license. I had to make an excuse in order to avoid taking up being a full time teacher. However, I know It's not a role I should take lightly. If I make a mistake in teaching children the full power of flesh magic, they might make the same mistake I made. Since I'll only be performing lectures on a weekly bases, I can plan out how I'll be teaching them the nerfed version of my flesh magic.
But, prof. Lector's heart seems to be in the right place. I felt his sincerity when stating that my knowledge would benefit other flesh mages like me who are still probably being ridicule and ostracized for being deemed mages with trash abilities. You see, unlike demi-human races like Brownies, Elves, and Demons who can freely choose what type of magic they can learn, Humans are born with only one type of magic they can use, without any way of changing it.
Those who are born into what are deemed as trash skill often gets harassed and mocked for their lack of power. And weakness in times of war can be fatal. I had to become strong in order to win the war and save every humans from possible destruction, but in doing so I did a lot of things I regret to this day. The past must not repeat it's self. I'll need to be careful in teaching the next generation of flesh mages.
As Vina, Lira and I made our way to the classroom door, we were greeted by my new teammates who were waiting on the other side.
Bismart: "Man. looks like you're pretty popular with the teachers. So popular that you almost became one."
Bismart joked as he greeted us, and proceeded to then ask Vina and Lira to have lunch together with them. I accepted the offer, which lead to Vina doing the same. The seven of us made our way to the cafeteria to get something to eat.
Selk: "By the way, Vina, where's Sarah and Gilbert? Aren't they going to have lunch with us?"
I asked Vina since I'm a tad worried that the two might develop a reputation for being anti-social.
Vina: "Well, Gilbert's always been a bit of a loner, so he's probably somewhere reading his book in peace. And Sarah said she'll check out the indoor swimming pool they have here."
Vina answered not really caring where our fellow heroes are.
Bismart: "S-so, Ms. Vina. Are you and the other heroes going to participate in the coming Inter-university competition?"
Vina: "I'm afraid not. I was told that all heroes are banned from entering the competition since it can be seen as an unfair advantage."
Vina said as she answered Bismart's question while eating her strawberry crepe. Her last words making me feel guilty since I'm the secret seventh hero. I'll just stick to using my bow and provide support healing once the competition is set.
Alfred: "I'm just glad that Selk will be staying with us. But Selk, I hope you're not missing out on a great opportunity for yourself on our behalf."
Selk: "Don't worry about it, Alfred. I have no asperation to become an educator. My passion will always be for healing and healing alone."
I said to Alfred in an honest manner.
Abriela: "T-that's good to hear. It would be a bother if I was the only mage in the group. And besides, I haven't repaid you for saving my life yet, Selk. S-so you better prepare for my gratitude and take responsibility, okay."
Abriela told me shily. I will welcome a reward if she insist, but why do I have to take responsibility for something like that? Probably some kind of demon kingdom tradition or something. Before I could tell her not to bother with repayments, Vina interjected with her own comment.
Vina: "I beg your pardon? You want dear Sir Selk to take responsibility? How absurd. If I didn't know any better, I would say that you purposely stood in the path of that golem's head so you can be saved by Sir Selk and gain his affection."
Abriela: "E-excuse me? I have done no such thing. I-it was an accident cause by our fight with the golem and nothing more. And if I want to show my gratitude towards my benefactor, then that's none of your concern, Ms. Hero."
Abriela stood up in rage as she and Vina stared daggers at each other, their conflict filled the air with heaviness and tension that can be cut by a knife. I'm just thankful that Vinas blood lust hasn't build over, and she's able to keep her deadly jealous rage in check. It's a good thing Bismart is quick to pick up on how to calm this situation.
Bismart: "S-so, Ms. Vina. Since you were also saved by Selk, can you regale us with the story of his bravery again. I just can't get enough of how gallant Selk is in your tales."
Bismart really knows how to butter up Vina now. She quickly stopped her tense staring contest with Abriela and sat back down to recount the time I saved her from the Obsidian Golem with glee. Abriela was clearly not happy that she was basically ignored by Vina for a chance to talk about me, but she begrudgingly sat back down with a little convincing from our teammates.
As Vina was in the middle of telling her story however, a group of six male students walked up to us and started to address Vina.
"Excuse me, but you're Vina Rockforth, an I right? My name is Alfonse DeMarco, Son of Duke and Duchess DeMarco. I believe my father has sent you an official letter for my marriage proposal to you around three months ago. Yet, my family has not received a reply from your house. Did you receive our letter?"
A tall boy with spiky red hair asked Vina, who introduced himself as a son of a Duke household. Looks like he's one of Vina's suitor that sent her a proposal letter.
Vina: "A marriage proposal from the Demarco family, you say. Yes, I believe we did get one from you."
Alfonse: "R-really? W-well, why haven't you replied yet?"
The young man said with shaky voice unfitting of his tall frame and manly looks.
Vina: "I had my attendant throw it away along with all the other marriage proposals I get. I have no time to entertain for such half hearted attempts to woe me. Nor do I the time to even reply to those silly letters. Now, begone. I haven't finish telling my story to my companions yet, and your presence is dampening our mood."
Vina replied in the most cruel yet nonchalant way I've ever heard anyone utter in my entire life, both here and in my old world. The young man scowled his handsome face, morphing it to a face more fitting of a wild beast. He gritted his teeth out of anger and frustration from Vina's insult so hard, I could hear grinding sounds coming from them.
I kind of feel sorry for him. A marriage proposal is no laughing matter, and you should at least send a proper rejection letter to let the other party know you're not interested.
Alfonse: "H-h-h-h- HOW DARE YOU MOCK ME AND MY FAMILY! You think that just because you're a hero, you can toy with my feelings, and my family's honor? I DEMAND TO KNOW WHY YOU DIDN'T REPLY!"
The young man shouted in a manic voice like a person going mad.
Vina: "It's because I'm already in love with someone else. And he is more of a man than you and any other pampered noble like you could ever hope to be."
Vina's reply sent shivers down my spine and gave me a foreboding feeling that she's get me into trouble.
Alfonse: "And just who is this man you speak of?
He asked vina in a calmer, yet still hate filled tone.
Vina: "Why, it's none other than my dear Sir Selk over here."
Vina said as she pointed her finger at my direction, drawing the angry young man's gaze at me.
Alfonse: "Is that so? Well then, Selk. I challenge you to a duel for Vina Rockforth's hand in marriage."
The young man said as he took a glove out of his breast pocket and threw it at me. Though I can't help but think that this scenario is giving me a distinct feeling of Deja Vu.
Meanwhile, at the University Library.
Gilbert: "ACHO! Ahh... Did someone just remember me just now?"
