Chapter thirty six
"oh my Jesus I thought a fortnight would be a little shorter" Ryoko Groans, today the desert sun was at its highest although it wasn't as hot as expected, it was extremely humid, and the air smelt of sand, and heat, dust, and unnecessary drama
"me too," says Viper all the while leaning at the edge of the Spirit's back.
"Are you trying to fall off? If you ask nicely I can make it a gentle drop" Says Silver in an otherwise condescending manner earning an Irritated growl from Viper.
"Stupid Spirit" she mutters well to Silver hearing
"Excuse me?" he says back
"What're you gonna do about it huh?" Viper says mockingly
"Ryoko, I suggest we get rid of this insufferable creature, her stupidity might be contagious"
"What did you say to me?!"
"no, no fighting, it's humid enough without you shouting unnecessarily," Hani says seemingly done with this dessert
"for once I agree," Ryoko says with a yawn
"but he-"
"stop bothering everyone Viper, I'm sure he's having it worse in such humid air, I'm not sure water spirits are made for this kind of condition," Elena says running her fingers through Silvers's otherwise wet fur
"yeah I've been wondering, how have you been flying through this desert this entire time?" Tatsuya asks
"freak of nature" Viper mutters under her breath
"make one more stupid comment and I will fling you over what are you doing"
"Checking the drop, see if it's worth it," says Viper
"Okay enough please" Karla groans
"yeah I don't think I can handle either of your yapping anymore" Ryoko mutters.
Soon after they all result in total Silence equally dreading the long travel
"oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my-"
"say oh my gosh one more time and I'll wrap your vocal cords around your throat," Viper says glaring at Elena who had raised the alarm.
"what's the matter" Karla asks
"people, and a city, just look" The group gets up looking in the direction she had been pointing, their expressions morph from disinterest to shock, to relief, to some sort of happiness
"Finally!" says Viper proceeding to jump up and down
"Do you forget you're on a living creature?" Silver growls causing Viper to stop her jubilation
"Looks like we're almost out of here," Karla says, relief evident in her voice
"That must be the city of Sand right?" asks Ryoko looking to Hani for confirmation
"Yes it has to be, looks like we were given the right directions," Hani says as they close in on the city
"Do you think the people there will be welcoming?" Karla asks
"Who knows they might be or they might not," Tatsuya says shrugging.
After a good 20 minutes of flying Silver descends landing at the entrance of the city, the group dismounts and Silver switches to his human form, they all walk into the small city look around, and are quite taken aback to see an animal-like people walking around
"what the hell?"
"Are we in the right place?"
"This is weird"
"um maybe we should ask for directions" Hani finally says before stopping a man, he looked like a lion with a large mane and an intense glare
"um hello sir," Hani says
"get to the point," he said in a gruff voice
"right sorry but I wanted to be sure, this is the city of sand right?" the man looks at them with an incredulous expression
"oh my God, I've come across the biggest group of Idiots," he says
"What did you say?!" says Viper her Temper as high as always earning looks from passer-bys
"This is the beast town," he says proudly
"b-beast town? asks Ryoko as the group looks at each other in confusion
"wait but where is the city of Sands?" Elena asks him
"you came outta the city idiot," another guy says leaving the group confused
"but the directions we got said this was the way to the city," says Hani
"What did you take directions from a warlock?, the city of Sands, is in the desert, under the great Library," the Lion says walking away laughing
"idiot kids," he says laughing. The group remains quiet while processing the Information
"wait a second so if the city is under the library then" Elena pauses as Viper growls low
"that lying son of a-"
Back at the great library, Shimo's servants carry on dusting the library books and bringing new Information from different times and worlds, at its center Shimo lounges drinking a blue liquid.
"Master"
"yes? What is it?" he asks calmly
"How long do you think it'll take before they realize" the servant asks
"Dragons are quite slow when it comes to these things it is entertaining to watch them wrap their minds around the reality of the world don't you think?" he says before breaking into a series of laughter getting louder and increasingly Sinister by the second.
"it's happening, it's a new beginning he's giving to us, he wins, he always wins," he says chucking sinisterly almost like a certain madness was lurking deep within something the group was yet to uncover.
