Juho was holding an arnis stick to start his first class in Field Cross, where superhumans used to train. He was with a newcomer who was probably his classmate in this class. Another stranger's face was now being discussed in front. They talk about the usage of the stick they are holding, the functions of each edge, the parts, and why does it need to have a specific color for each user.
Juho just shrugged. He remembers it from when he was in the eighth grade, when a teacher taught them how to use arnis. The steps and rules to follow were even taught to the entire class way back then.
"You from the back!" He regained consciousness when he heard a voice raised. Juho looked in front and pointed himself as he looked around his classmates which he wished he shouldn't. "Yes, you. Im Ju-ho," the person in front of him spoke. He gulped and sat straight.
"Uh, yes?" he answered maliciously. He looked at everyone from his peripheral vision, and most of his classmates were looking at him.
"You seemed out of place, Juho. Do you want to take a break instead?" the guy asked him, that's his teacher, he thought.
"I would like to give it a try," he suggested. The teacher was shocked. Maybe he couldn't believe that Juho was challenging him.
"Mun, I think the powerless human being wants to have cramps," he heard from one of his classmates, and that was sarcastic. He looked at him and smirked.
"Why don't you give me a try, dumbbell?" he said sarcastically. The guy laughed in disbelief.
"You are really challenging me, huh? I'll tell you, asshole, my family belongs to the powerful superhuman. You have no match with me," the guy responded.
"Not unless we try?" he insisted. Silence was covered by the Field Cross. His classmates looked at their professor. He was like asking for help, but instead, the teacher agreed to Juho.
"At the open area, let's get started," the professor said.
Everyone went to an open area. Juho was confident because he knew how it was used. They started the usual tradition of arnis and positing themselves.
"Im Ju-Ho and Kyung Hae Ju, fight!" After what the professor said, they started to attack each other.
At first, Juho only defended himself until Haeju hit him in the knee, which caused him to fall to the ground. He heard a small laugh, and he looked at his opponent, who was standing in front of him. He was laughing proudly because he made him bend over on the ground.
Haeju was like teasing him and said, "Look at this dummy, praying for his defeat." Everyone there was laughing because of what he said. But Juho got all the confidence to stand up again and picked up his arnis stick. Haeju looked at him teasingly.
"Oh, shoot. The dummy is trying to fight again," Haeju sarcastically said to everyone and they all looked at him. "You're not going to lay that stick on me, Juho. As I previously stated, my ancestors were strong and swift. You're not going to beat me," he told him. Juho smirked and positioned himself again.
As they fight, Juho notices that Haeju's force from his left is weaker than his right. Therefore, he is a right-powered person who fights with his full force on the right side.
When Haeju saw Juho's position , his face fell. He wasn't expecting it to come. "You... What..." he exclaimed flatly.
"O, yeah. I was just testing you, buddy. Nice try. Now, shall we?" he asked, and this time, the table turned. Maybe because of anger, Haeju attacked him without thinking about his moves. While Juho, on the other hand, used the prohibited technique he used the last time he practiced Arnis.
He hit Haeju multiple times until he surrendered himself. He was delighted with the outcome. He actually won, despite the fact that he thought he would not. Making a decision like fighting off is extremely dangerous for someone who was born like him, nothing but ordinary and no extraordinary strength. He even thought that he would fail because the moment Haeju told him that they belonged to the bloodline of superhumans, he was afraid. Good thing he knew Arnis a little.
"This fight isn't all about power, Haeju. You need a brain to control the situation. By the way, nice try," he said and left them at the Field Cross.
He went directly to the beach. This school, Spherical Academy, according to Professor Kim, was surrounded by water. More likely, this is like an island in the midst of the ocean.
He screamed at the top of his lungs because of the satisfaction he felt today. He couldn't imagine he had some strength and confidence to fight on.
"You are great out there." He immediately looked at the person who had just arrived. "How did you learn that?" Desu asked. He sighed and looked out of nowhere.
"When my mom left me, my dad gave his best to train me. He sent me to an arnis school and kept telling me to learn for my own safety," he said, and looked at the stick he was holding. "Even told me that colors would give me strength enough to beat my opponent. At first, it was so boring. Basic techniques don't satisfy me, so I learn my own moves and that beats Haeju," he added. He looked at Desu because he heard her chuckle.
"Well, you might be born normal, but you were special. Who could've imagined that you'd learn danju in your own way? You are incredibly amazing, Juho," Desu stated.
"Danju? What's that?" he curiously asked. "I never heard that. I called it arnis because—"
"Because that's what humans call it. Danju on the other hand, is a martial art that is known to be for masters," she replied. While staring at the sea, she resumed her description of the school's history. "In Spherical Academy, there are four types of students."
After class, they went to the beach to unwind. Up until now, Juho still can't process everything, and Desu's always there to clear everything up for him. When they reach the beach, Desu tells him everything she knows.
"New comers. You belonged there. In our world, they are the transferee and confused. First-honored are like Haeju. Those who are possessed with power because of the bloodline line as they first join here. Masters, me. I belonged there. Well, somehow," she laughed. "Masters are sphereans who are honored to be the guardians of the school and, lastly." Desu looked at him and said, "Legendaries. The supreme students and the powerful creatures in here," she added.
"You know Danju?" he asked. Desu chuckled.
"Sort of, but we are not allowed to use it. I don't know the reason why, but yeah," she said. "But you know, Juho? I think..." Desu stared at him a little bit. "What if..."
"What if, what?" he asked to feed his curiosity. "Come on. Ever since I arrived here, all this place has given me is confusion. Can't you just tell it to me straight to the point?" he muttered.
"What if you are the son of a master?" Desu said. Juho just stared at her in disbelief. "What? I'm just stating facts. You know danju in an instant, you might be the son of a master in this school," she added.
"Don't be ridiculous, Desu." He shook his head, but then, Desu's words never left in his mind.
'Could it be there's a possibility?'
