The Cultivation System Maker

[Host, please state what you would like your system to be.]

"I would like a system that can reward me for slaying demon beasts!" Kalum requested.

[Understood Host! Demon Beast Slaying options are as follows, please select the one you would like the most.]

[The Mission System. This System will allow you to be assigned missions to take down Demon Beasts and be rewarded for each successful mission. This would normally cost one hundred soul-power or the material equivalent!]

[The Kill-Reward System. This System will allow you to be rewarded for killing any demon beast you successfully beat. However, every time you fail to kill a demon beast that fights you, there will be a penalty. This would normally cost one hundred and twenty-five soul-power or the material equivalent.]

[The Ambush System. This System will provide daily, weekly and monthly ambushes of Demon Beasts to attack the host, every ambush survived will provide rich rewards to the host. This would normally cost two hundred soul-power or the material equivalent!]

Each system had advantages and disadvantages, the Mission System would allow him to have clean-cut missions regardless of where he was and he would not have to search randomly for Demon Beasts in the forest, however, he would only be rewarded for mission kills and would get no extra reward for anything else. If he did not get his first System free he certainly would choose this one though! But as it was free he decided to choose between the other options.

On the other hand, the Kill-Reward System would allow him to endlessly hunt demon beasts and get rewards. This would let him hunt as much as he wanted and get more goodies than the other systems, his main concern would be how good the rewards would be compared to the other options. With no information on the rewards, Kalum decided to ask the System itself.

"System, what is the reward difference between each?" Kalum asked.

[The rewards are capped at a certain tier depending on the System rating! The higher the System rating the better possible rewards. For the Mission System and Ambush System you would receive completely random rewards up to what you permitted. On the other hand, the Kill-Reward System will only provide Demon Beast cores with the same rules as it is a repeatable quest.]

That made some sense to Kalum. It would be slightly too strong to let him get any reward from the repeatable quests. Even still, he could trade the other cores in for more spirit stones to get other materials. Most sects or stores in this area of the country would buy goods without asking any questions as there really was a high need for these items in the harsh and unforgiving winter. However, the System Rating still confused him.

"System, can you explain what the System Rating is to me please?" Kalum asked.

[Certainly! System Rating is the grade of the System that you create. The four levels you are currently able to create are Mortal, Earth, Low-Spirit and Mid-Spirit tier System. Each System can level up to three grades higher simply by using them effectively! Once enough Systems upgrade to a higher tier then Host will be able to create systems at that tier!]

That was quite logical! They could be upgraded simply by completing their missions or using them for their purpose. That was practically giving away upgrades as long as he stuck to using them. It was a shame that a System could only grow three levels beyond its starting point but this was still pretty huge! It certainly rewarded a more daring and active use rather than lazing around like a couch potato.

"System can you also explain which each System Rating Rank can provide for rewards?" Kalum asked.

[Of course Host! Mortal grade rewards are generally for the Qi Gathering Realm, Earth grade rewards are for the Qi Soaring Realm and below, and Low-Spirit would be for the Core Creation and the Core Soaring Realm. Finally, the Mid-Spirit Rating would be for The Soul Unity Realm. Increase the System Rating of the Cultivation Creation System to know more.]

"Wait, I can upgrade you as well?" Kalum asked the System.

[Increasing the System rating of the Cultivation Creation System will simply give you access to new features, the System itself is already the highest possible rating but you are not yet allowed to access all features.]

"Okay, I can see I'm not yet strong enough! It's time for me to continue debating my options." Kalum said.

The last option presented was the Ambush System and although it seemed like it made it easier to find Demon Beasts as they would quite literally come to him, Kalum was against the idea to introduce this much danger when he was still this weak. Therefore his choice after some careful consideration became obvious.

"I would like the Kill-Reward System please!" Kalum finally decided.

[Of course, the final choice for you to make then host is the System Rating, you can pick choose the Mortal or Earth grade options for free as this is your first System. If you wish for anything higher you will require to obtain and spend soul-power.]

"The Earth Grade system then, please." Kalum chose.

He could feel in his mind a new slot appearing out of nowhere and instinctively knew that the new System had been installed. He decided to name it the Beast Hunting System, slightly generic but who else would know other than Kalum?

This was his moment! This was his chance to finally become someone who mattered! Either Villain or Hero who cared as long as one had power? Soon he would make a name for himself and rise above his low standing! However, Kalum had to take things one step at a time.

Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Kalum let his excitement and ambition go to dreamland for the moment.

"Beast Hunting System are you there?" Kalum asked.

After waiting for a solid minute he received no response and felt a bit silly, as a low-grade system that did not need to assign missions he probably wouldn't hear from it until he actually killed a demon beast.

And that was exactly what Kalum planned to do!

Making sure his trusty Three Fold Frost Knife was ready, Kalum proceeded deeper into the icy hell of a forest in search of prey.
