The loud exclamation of surprise did not come from the young receptionist.
Kalum turned around to face the source of the outburst. An elderly gentleman with blinding blonde hair and pale skin. Before Kalum could speak the elderly gentlemen spoke first.
"Is it true that you have a frost serpent core?" He eagerly asked Kalum.
"It is true Sir, might I know your name?" Kalum asked.
The man looked confused for a second before his eyes widened slightly.
"Oh silly me I have not introduced myself, I am Pultho, an elder of the Moon Beam Sect." He said before offering a hand to Kalum.
Kalum shook his hand eagerly and introduced himself as well.
"I am Kalum, a wandering cultivator."
If possible the old man looked even more surprised.
"Oh indeed! You must be quite impressive for a wandering cultivator." Pultho complimented him.
Kalum felt that he was being buttered up but didn't mind it too much if he could make some connections. Networking was vital after all.
"I'm nothing special, just have a talented ally! Kalum said modestly.
"I'm sure you are just being modest." The elder said.
The receptionist cleared her throat slightly and both Kalum and Pultho jumped slightly. The commotion that the shout had caused earlier had passed, and yet the young receptionist did not look too happy that she was ignored.
"Hello Elder Pultho, please do you mind providing me with an estimated value for the frost serpent core so I know where to place it in the auction." She said with a mild glare but a practiced smile.
"Of course, of course, I am more than happy to do so. Normally such a thing would be sold on the Grand Auction house on the 4th layer simply due to its rarity. People who can obtain such a Demon Beast Core have to be of a much higher level or cultivate some impressive techniques to catch a frost serpent." He said.
The young receptionist looked taken aback at the claim.
"Should this be forwarded to the Grand Auction House then?" She asked the elder.
Kalum felt slightly annoyed at being turned into a spectator in this conversation but soldiered on.
"I don't believe that it will be necessary as this is the lowest cultivation frost serpent I have seen in this city. It will be a rather impressive piece in this auction and is bound to fetch at least one hundred thousand low-tier spirit stones. Although it is a relatively low tier Demon Beast Core it is sought after for its rarity." Pultho said.
The young woman took a deep breath in relief at not having to give up her bonus from such an item to the higher levels. Turning to Kalum, she spoke professionally again.
"I do believe it will be possible to sell it here then Sir, would you like to hand it over to the auction house? We will take 25% of the Value as payment."
That was to be expected as all auction houses had to make a profit. Although Kalum didn't know that the frost serpent was on the rare side, now that he had shown it here it was best to offload it to the auction house. It would also let him sit in on the auction himself.
"Yes I would be happy to sell it at the auction house miss, do you know when the next auction is?" Kalum asked.
She smiled in relief that he decided to sell at their auction house.
"Thank you for your patronage sir! The next auction is in two weeks' time, when the moons are at their most bright." She informed him, smiling.
Kalum thanked her and gave a grateful nod before turning to elder Pultho.
"Thank you for your help." Kalum nodded to him.
"Not a problem young sir." Pultho smiled as they walked out of the auction house together.
Once they had left the auction house he turned to Kalum.
"Here is my communication scroll number, if you ever have more Demon Beast Cores or artefacts you can contact me and I will give you a favourable price." The elder told him.
Kalum had completely forgotten he even wanted to sell his other Demon Beast Cores! He was so caught up in the momentum of the conversation that it completely slipped his mind.
"I do in fact have some Qi Gathering Realm and some Qi Soaring Realm Demon Beast Cores leftover elder, would you be interested in such things." Kalum asked respectfully.
"I am indeed interested in my young friend! I have some business to take care of first in the city of the utmost importance. I am already late and I'm bound to get scolded." The Elderly man chuckled.
"How about we meet after the auction that the receptionist mentioned had concluded Elder? That should give both of us plenty of time." Kalum reasoned.
The Elder did not betray anything on his face at this offer.
"Of course that is a splendid idea! I was planning to go to the auction either way and now I have more incentive." The elder laughed.
"Well elder Pultho, good luck on your business." Kalum bowed respectfully.
"And may your future endeavours be blessed by the Spirit of Frost, young Kalum." The elder gave a traditional courteous farewell.
Once they had parted ways, Kalum went on to look for a place to cultivate. There were many places in a city like this that could provide better than average cultivation spots. Things such as the Qi Attracting Formation worked in tandem with the Qi Attracting Pill for a slightly faster cultivation speed. This was precisely what Kalum was looking for.
It did not take long for Kalum to find a cultivation hotspot on the second layer of Musalyum. A massive sign lingered in front of him.
"Cultivators Paradise huh." Kalum grinned.
Walking into the building, Kalum approached the young man on duty at the desk.
"I would like a Cultivation room for two weeks." Kalum requested.
The young man looked up and began explaining.
"Would you like a normal room for seven hundred low-tier spirit stones or a premium room for three thousand two hundred low-tier spirit stones?" He asked Kalum.
Unfortunately Kalum did not have the money to waste for the premium room so he took the normal room. Handing over the spirit stones before heading right to the room to cultivate.
"Time to attempt a breakthrough!" Kalum grinned.
