Chapter 29

Sam got ready from home and sent Grace ahead of her to ensure the place was set correctly. She chose to wear something to burn Kyle eyes so she settled for a black shimmering stretch dress with a low back drop and a black heels. Her hair was loose but was clipped to her side so that her entire back showed of . She knew before the night was over that she'd shed tears so she opted for a natural look. Only her lips was covered in a Candy red lipstick that actually enhanced the size of it.

As she walked in to the restaurant and removed her coat she could feel several eyes on her. She walked to the cake display and began doing her final checklist.

Excuse me, Excuse me! A young, handsome guy called out to her.

Sam turned and smiled prepared to ward off the many suitors she had grown accustomed too when she did events like this,

How can I help you Sir? Sam said as she continued checking through the cupcakes.

Do you mind if I ask you for a dance before the night is over? My name is Joe by the way and I'm the best friend of Kyle. Joe said in a nervous tone

Well Joe, I was thinking that I might have been  too busy but seeing that you have a little leverage into getting me the job of doing the wedding cake for this happy couple…I will definitely save you a dance! Sam said.

Seconds later, Sam saw Kyle and Sarah enter the restaurant and eventually walk to their seats. Sam stared at Sarah and Kyle for a long time. She saw that Sarah was quite beautiful and attractive and Kyle looked handsome, as he usually did, in his black attire. Sam looked at him and his eyes met hers and they looked at each for a long while. She saw the shock in his face and the saddened expression on his face after realizing what she had done and it actually gave her some satisfaction.

Instantly Sam thought of the day at the cottage and the way he was with her. Unknowingly, the tears started falling and she had to turn away to dry her eyes. She reminded herself that this was a job and gathered herself. Several minutes later they were directly infront on her cutting the cake that she had specially made for them but was so involved with Kyle and what she thought they had over the past few months that she did not bother going over the details of the engagement booklet. Had she done that, it would have saved her this tremendous heartache.

As she got a closer look at Sarah she realize that she was gorgeous indeed. Then Sam remembered the conversation with Kyle and what his family wanted and it dawned on her that this was what he didn't want to do but felt compelled too. It was then that she felt terribly sorry for him and her heartache for what they had together, felt minimal. She had known pain and struggles all her life so she knew she'd be okay one day.

Congratulations Kyle and Sarah. I wish you both a happy life. Sam said and smiled.

The speech was over and everyone had already eaten and was socializing with one another. Sam had more people ask for her number than they asked for her cupcakes. Except Joe who ate about three already and was patiently awaiting the dancing to start to be the first to dance with her.

Grace you did an excellent job! I may have to consider giving you a raise! Sam said and hugged Grace.

Grace just smiled and blushed because she knew Sam was already a good boss that truly helped her out many times before.

Thank you Sam. I learnt from the best! Grace said and smiled.

Grace as soon as I'm finished dancing with this guy here, and pointed to Joe, I'm leaving okay! Sam said softly.

Sure Sam! I'll just stick around for a bit and then I'll leave. Grace replied

Sam just nodded and walked over to Joe. She smiled at him and began to speak,

So Joe tell me a little about Mr Kyle and Sarah please! I was so pleased with this job that I do hope I get their wedding cake also. So any information will be welcomed. Sam said smiling.

Joe began speaking so fast that she could not understand what he was saying. Sam began to laughed and held his hands

Hi Joe my name is Samantha Chase and you don't have to be nervous around me. Sam said and patted his hands gently.

You are so beautiful Samantha that I think I might be falling in love with you already. Joe said slowly.

Well in that case we should get this dance over with because I will be leaving in the next ten minutes. Sam said and laughed lightly.

You're leaving already? Common Samantha, please stay foe a little while longer? Joe begged.

I've got another place where I need to be so I'm sorry. But you can walk me out if you like? Sam said only because she saw that she was being looked like meat by several of the men in there including Kyle.

Then I accept! May we have this dance Samantha? Joe asked as the music began.

Sam nodded and Joe placed his fingers into his, bowed and walked onto the dance floor with her smiling from ear to ear at his friend Kyle!
