Chapter 4
Bella woke up screaming and drenched in sweat on her bed in her apartment. Since the day of the asteriod impact on the mountains, her entire life had changed dramatically. She got up from bed and looked at the time and decided that she would make a cup of tea and then get ready to go out for her nightly prowl.
As she walked into the kitchen and clicked the kettle on, she sat on the barstool and began to think. She remembered bits and pieces of the incident that had happened decades ago but everything was still blurry for her. She remembered being hit by a vehicle and then being placed in a car. She even remembered when a young, pretty girl had grabbed her tightly before she saw only blackness.
When she awoke and found her way home she didn't even realize that she was invisible until her mother, Jean, pointed it out. That was only after hearing her husband scream out ghost and seeing him quickly run away after Bella walked up to him and hugged him.
When the kettle clicked off, Bella got up, made her tea and came back to the barstool and sat down. Memories of her struggling with the past years flooded her mind. She recalled the unimaginable fright she had, when she first began to experience supernatural changes like being able to turn her entire body into flames, or into water and even being able to control the weather. Today however, in all honesty, her favorite power so far was learning she could remain invisible for hours.
Thank goodness her mother and father stood with her through those challenging times because she herself knew that she would not have been able to cope on her own. At one point in time, she remembered she was about ready to check herself into a mental institution. But with her parent's guidance and her being a half witch along with time, she was finally able to quickly master controlling her powers and was now able to almost turn into any of her powers she concentrated on. That was why she decided to use her powers to help others who were in trouble or protect them from the terrible rogues on the streets.
After the asteroid impact, she along with many others quickly realized that it affected a large number of the population on the Dark Moon Mountains and because of this knowledge, she had been searching for a long time for any other supernatural beings who possessed extraordinary powers like her. But unfortunately she could not locate any. It was this said search, that convinced her to become a private investigator.
And so far as an investigator, she had only encountered werewolves, humans and even vampires with immense power that wrecked havoc on the innocent citizens and who she eventually hunted and killed. Luckily for her though, Bella hadn't met nor fought any other witches with supernatural powers and that was something she was very thankful for.
What kept her in a conundrum though was whether it was the meteor shower or the asteroid impact within the surrounding mountain that gave all of them these powers and what determined them to turn out good from bad. Whatever it was, Bella had long decided that unlike the rogues, she was determined to use her powers for the good of humanity.
As she dressed in her flaming red suit and mask to hide her identity, she walked out onto the balcony and flew up into the sky making her patrol around the city, hoping that it would be one of those quiet nights.
At exactly eight, several black heavily tinted Mercedes Benz pulled into the carpark of the Madison restaurant. As soon as the cars was parked, Alpha Czar and his pack of lycanthropes existed their vehicles and made their way to the well-known, yet contemporary hotel and restaurant where they instantly ushered to their table.
Several yards away, the family as well as the other dining occupants at the restaurant was unaware of the gang of rogues, lycanthropes and vampires, lurking in the alley next door, planning their attack on the wealthy aristocrats seated inside the restaurant
Off course the rogues knew that the restaurant would be secured with several security personnel who would be armed but they were counting on their supernatural strength to get them in and out with a hefty loot along with several battle-axe on their backs.
At exactly eight thirty the gang of rogues walked into the restaurant and headed towards the several armed securities and began surrounding the large restaurant. Within seconds some of the rogues were able to snap the necks of some of the armed guards. However, a few had managed to draw and discharge their guns, causing many of the customers to begin screaming as they ran towards the exits which were all blocked by the rogues.
Unfortunately for the hostages being held, the rogues had jammed the cell signal so that no one could call the police. Suddenly, several shots rang out as a grey and white rogue werewolf used one of the security gun to shoot into the ceiling.
Ladies and gentlemen of the upper class. We are here just to get your money and any valuables that you may have on you. I want everyone to empty their pockets and place everything on the table while these two beautiful women will walk around to each table and collect it. That means all cash, jewelry, phone etc, a huge black lycanthrope said and pointed the gun to the two women in their seats, signaling them to the bags to begin collecting the items for them.
Kyle hands clenched and he looked towards his siblings. They were about to get up when they saw their father shake his head in disapproval.
Here is not the place my pups. There are too many high-ranking werewolf officials here for your secret to get out. It is okay for society to know that we are werewolves but I fear you my endanger our pack if they learn of you super powers. It is too risky so don't do it! Czar said through his teeth
As soon as he was finished, a brown lycanthrope came behind Czar,
Do you think you are special because you have the largest settlement among us Czar! The rogue werewolf said and hit the Alpha a blow to his head causing him to slump down slowly on to his mate, Jean.
Don't worry your pack will soon have a new Alpha, Czar! Your days are numbered and so will be all your Alpha friends from neighboring packs! the brown lycanthrope said laughing.
Immediately, Czar's family stood up when they saw what the rogue werewolf had done.
No my children, sit back down please! Czar begged
Yes pups, sit your asses down right now before we beat you give us reason to beat you all to the ground. I didn't come with the intention of killing anyone tonight but for this family I can make an exception! The rogue werewolf said laughing
Slowly the family began to lower back into their seat when suddenly the glass doors blew open and small fragments of broken glass was scattered throughout the restaurant.
Why don't you pick on someone your own size you big and good for nothing oaf? Bella said as she walked through the broken doorway.
Guys it looks like we'll be getting a red snack to take home tonight along with all this loot! the enormous brown lycanthrope said and smiled.
And she looks so yummy! I'm going to break in your plumb ass sweetie! Another rogue werewolf said laughing from the corner of the room.
And to me it looks like tonight it'll be the last night you'd be on earth. Bella replied and immediately turned invisible and began slamming several powerful punches into the rogue werewolf that was laughing earlier, until she began to make him shrink.
Where did she go? Another grey lycanthrope shouted as he felt a blow to his face. She continued the invisible assault on two werewolves as the other rogues and spectators looked on. Finally, when one of the grey wolf had shrunk enough, she grabbed his battle axe and quickly slit his neck killing him on the spot.
Bella immediately moved on to the other grey and white lycanthrope. Not giving him enough time to rest and regain his size. She quickly began slamming him against the walls of the restaurant until he shrunk small enough and once again she slit the throat, killing him instantly as he fell to the floor.
By this time the black werewolf was upon her and made a frantic grab and caught hold of Bella and began squeezing her tightly. Bella began to feel pain and became visible.
You want me sugar? All you had to do was ask! Bella said as she spun around and slipped her hands around his and burst into flames. She tightly hugged the rogue as he screamed loudly and scrambled to get away.
Don't let go my darling, the best is yet to come! Bella said and smiled and blazed even more causing the rogue to turn into ashes before everyone's eyes.
Two vampires instantly attacked Bella when they saw what she did to their friend. But Bella had anticipated their action and immediately took out her wooden hair pin, causing her hair to lose from the bun and cascade down her back before turning invisible, and stabbed it into the both vampire hearts.
The two remaining huge werewolves quickly grabbed one of the bag with the money and valuables and they scampered through the broken glass door but Bella quickly flew behind them and when they were outside the restaurant she transformed into a huge black bear and began to maul the two werewolves. When they had both reduced in size, Bella used the bear's powerful claws to rip out the throat of one werewolf while she completely bit off the head of the other and spat it to the ground.
Instantly she fell on her knees from exhaustion. And after several minutes of heavy breathing, she was able to get up and collect the bag with the valuables and hand it to the manager with the remaining securities.
Thank you, he said and Bella nodded.
Several seconds later, he along with the majority of the restaurant spectators became awe struck and dumb founded when they saw the lady in red with long, curly hair, fly up into the sky and disappear.
Meanwhile as soon as the fight was taken outside, the Dark Moon pack members rushed to their Alpha's side and checked on him. His family then helped him up and began so slowly walk outside, just in time to see the woman flying up into the sky. Kyle and Karl continued to help their father to the car, while the others followed behind. Lizzy and Charlie however went to the manager to collect their family's stuff that was taken earlier and brought it back to everyone. By then, Kyle and Karl had now placed their father in the car along with their mother.
Seems your team have some friendly competition Kyle? Czar said giving them a small smile to reassure everyone he was okay.
Seems we do, Alpha! Kyle replied and squeezed his hand gently.
Take them home Giles and call us if you have any problems! We'll be behind you shortly! Kyle said and closed the door while Giles started the car and began to drive back to the community.
Now I understand the Alpha's fears about leaving the settlement! James said as the group lingered in the carpark to speak about what had taken place earlier.
She was amazing! Did you see when she turned into that black bear! Lizzy squealed in delight as she looked at the rest of her teammates.
Yes Lizzy we were all there witnessing the events. But did you see his head on the ground away from his body? Brutal I tell you! Karl said still surprised at what had just taken place
Was it the mystery woman we've been looking for all these years? Charlie asked
I think she was but I'm not too sure! Let's see, invisibility, flames, shape shifting, agility and superb fighting skills! Yup it could very well be her! Karl answered
She seemed to have some of our powers! I wonder how powerful she really is! Karl said as he looked back into the restaurant and remembered the earlier events
I think she's more powerful than each of us because I can't think of any of our powers that can turn into an gigantic bear? Unless someone is holding back on their powers and not letting the team know? Kyle asked
Judging from the confused looks on the rest of the group faces, Kyle knew that none of them had that power. Whoever she was, Kyle found himself flabbergasted by her and could not get her out of his mind. Immediately, he pictured the girl from decades ago.
What did the brown lycanthrope mean when he said that Alpha Czar and all the Alphas from neighboring packs, days are numbered? Charlie asked
It means that we have to do some surveillance in the city guys! But as a precaution we can't all leave the pack. Kyle said
We may have to do a team of three in the city while two remain back to protect the pack. But we'll interchange every week! Karl said
Sounds good to me! Kyle said
Well we'll be the first to stay with the pack my love as I have some thing to check out on the mountains. Lizzy said as she touched her mate's face lovingly
Is it important to the team Lizzy? Kyle asked curiously
I'm not sure as yet Kyle but I'll let us guys know for sure soon if I get confirmation! Lizzy answered
Well it's settled then love bug, we will stay at the settlement while Kyle, Karl and Charlie stay in the city! James replied and placed his hands around Lizzy's waist.
I hope I never have to team up with James and you! God, you're both so sickening with all that lovey dovey stuff. I'll stand your annoying ass any day over them Kyle! Bet your bottom dollar I will, I assure you! Karl said
Tsk, tsk brother! Don't be jealous that you've yet to meet your mate! We've not invented her as yet so you still have a wait! Want some attention in the meantime? Lizzy said laughing as she ran to Karl and hugged and kissed him on his face
Karl began gently fighting her off,
Lizzy stop it! No one wants your damn love hugs or kisses. Karl said laughing at his little sister as she continued to scramble to get hold of him
You need some love Karl! Let me give you a damn hug. Lizzy said through gritted teeth
Fine! Karl said and gave up and welcomed her warm hug.
See how nice it feels! Now get yourself someone to hug you that way so you can be in a better mood! Lizzy said laughing as she removed her arms and walked back to James.
Okay guys, enough playing! Let's go home and check on father and inform him of the plan. Kyle said as he began to walk to his car.
He waited until James and Lizzy drove off first and then Karl with Charlie and Kyle followed behind. For the entire drive home, he pictured the woman's face he had knocked down so many years ago and searched for years for.
Is it truly you that was at the restaurant tonight? He muttered to himself as images of tonight's performance at the restaurant engulfed his mind for the remainder of his ride home.
