Not ready

No one wants to be termed a spoilt brat especially when you know people are going to define you as one.

Lisa's new life hasn't been easy but she had no choice but to accept things the way they appear to be.

She complains bitterly to her dad about their whole thing and tries to make him understand that she's old enough to take care of herself.

"Dad please....I promise not to keep late nights which you know is not even my thing....please enough with these guards" She said rudely which was unlikely of her.

"Don't you ever talk to your father like that. Young woman!" Mr Greg yelled as he got tensed by her words.

Seeing the anger in him, she apologized immediately with no hesitation.

"The guards are for your safety....I don't want anything not even a single scratch on you" He said strongly.

"But dad...Nothing will ever happen to me....!" She responded with her hands folded round her chest in dismay.

"The guards are staying and that's period!...I never want to have this conversation again" He said arrogantly as he walks upstairs leaving Lisa startled.

"How would I make him understand....this is just too much for me to handle" Lisa lamented.

Betty's mum had been anticipating for her admission into college but it seemed she wasn't ready.

They had arguments which ended in deadlock.

"I don't want to be forced to make decisions which will be detrimental to my future...okay" Betty sneered.

"What do you mean by detrimental?...we're talking about your future young lady" Mrs Ruth replied.

"I'm not interested in going to college and besides what's so special about the degree anyways"

"Can you hear yourself....how foolish have you become that you'd disregard the importance of quality education" Mrs Ruth said angrily.

"I just want to live a life of luxury and I don't need to attend some stupid college to attain that besides I'm the only child so basically dad's properties will be inherited by me....mum please!" She said profusely.

"Hmm....so is that how you planned your life?" She asked curiously.

"Yes mother and that's final!" She jolted as she walked out on her mother.

Mrs Ruth shakes her head in dismay as Betty walked out on her.

"I just hope she isn't making a big mistake....hmm" She sighed inwardly.

Betty lied to Lisa about her admission being declined cause she knows Lisa would disagree with her decision.

Lisa never thought that she would choose pleasure over her education.

Betty was never the serious type when it comes to her studies.

"I can't wait for all these luxuries to be mine finally...like I'm gonna party hard like never before" She said confidently to herself as her dad sends for her.

"What does he want for goodness sake" She grumbled.

She walks sluggishly to meet her dad who was already waiting anxiously for her.

She sits down on the couch with her legs crossed in anticipation of what he wanted to say.

He clears his throat with his glasses on.

"So what are your plans for college?" He asked strictly.

She waits for some minutes as though she was thinking of what to say.

"Has a cat cut your tongue!" He jolted.

"I don't want to attend college dad please understand"

"On what grounds did you make such a stupid decision?" Mr peter said.

"Mother! Help me make him understand....you both can't keep making decisions for me?" Betty blurted out.

Her mother pretends to be busy while she remained quiet during their conversation.

"How would you manage the family companies if you don't have a college degree....you're my only child but that doesn't mean I'll watch you ruin everything I've worked hard to build" He said abruptly.

"I'm not gonna allow both of you control me anymore....I'm not going to college and that's final. Sorry dad!" She said rudely and ran upstairs to her room.

"Come back here!....you misfit of a daughter" He blurted out in fury but Betty's mind was already made up.

"You see what your daughter has grown up to become?" He jolted with his finger pointing at his wife who was still silent.

"There's nothing more I could say since she has chosen this path then let it be" Mrs Ruth beckoned.

Betty has lost her way and it's sad that nothing will ever make her change from such behavior.

"My poor child...I pray she comes to her senses before it's too late" Mr peter lamented.

Lisa speaks to Frederick about college and how prepared he was for the new worlds that awaits both of them.

"What should I call you now....oh what about my college boyfriend.....how's the sound of that?" She asked hilariously as they both laugh loudly on the phone.

"Oh my that sounds like a name for a school's janitor....don't be selfish give me something nice" He replied I a funny tone.

"But for real though I just can't wait for college like I've been dreaming about this babe" She said curtly.

"I know right....I'm super excited. I can't wait to spend more time with my baby" He replies with a smile as though she was right there with him.

"Babe are you smiling cause I can feel it" Lisa had a really strong connection with Frederick even to the extent of reading his mind.

"Aww! how did you know I was smiling?" He asked jokingly.

"I know you better than anyone else remember" She teased as they laughed again.

Lisa's mum sends for her and she had to end the call with Frederick.

He laid quietly on the bed after the call with his lover.

"the heavens bear witness to my love for Lisa" He whispers to himself.

"Thinking of her again?" Mrs Courtney said curtly.

He never knew she was standing at the door listening and watching him drool over his lover.

"mum....you're eavesdropping again" He replied hilariously.

"I was just passing by and I saw your room opened and thought it wise to come check on you" She said nervously.

Frederick knew she was fond of listening to his conversations.

"you're mummy's boy remember" She said with a smile as she sits on the bed.

"oh mum....of course I know that. no one I disputing that okay besides I'm now a grown lad" He chuckles.

"Grown or not you're still mummy's little prince...don't forget that"

"Yes mum" He replied with a fake smile.

They conversed to a while but she had to go prepare dinner.
