what in the world ?

"Brother? what brother are you talking about kaira? I have no siblings" I said in confusion.

"Its not my place to tell you the truth, zelda. come lets meet Alpha and he will answer your questions." kaira said calmly.

I stood up to follow kaira and thats when I noticed my dress. It was a deep emerald green color and was stunningly elegant like it came straight out of cinderella movie, minus the fact that it was not blue. There were beautiful beaded butterflies all around the off shoulder top.

"Wait. How am I wearing a different dress now?"

I asked.

"You have little mushroom fairies that magically change your dresses and do other little things for you" Kaira replied without looking back.

I followed Kaira down the grassy path and over the log that acted like a bridge for the narrow lake and when we reached the destination it was extremely beautiful. It was a hilltop view with green luscious trees all around and the weather was a bit foggy and cloudy like it was going to rain soon. And there were wolves. Quite a lot of wolves. But my eyes landed on the black one. He was out of this world kind of beautiful. Kaira went ahead and got near the black wolf, her neck was slightly bowed and then she touched her nose on the black wolf's. She looked at me as if asking me to go to them and I did. When I reached the black wolf Kaira said:

"This is Alpha and he is our pack leader." she paused and then looked at Alpha and said " And your brother."

wait, what? A wolf and my brother?

" This, ummm, this does not make any sense. What do you mean my brother? I am a human being but he is a wolf." I exclaimed.

"Look Zelda I-" she tried to talk but I said angrily:

"Look what? Look what Kaira? I don't know what is happening right now? I don't understand anything and here you are saying things that don't make sense at all..." I almost screamed these words and my tone got a little harsh without intention. But I didn't care because I was miserable. All my life I felt like I was a lunatic, a crazy person and now all of this felt real but an illusion at the same time.

"She is telling the truth, Zelda." said the Alpha in a calming tone.

"You are my little sister. Princess of our pack and the future...." He stopped mid sentence.

"Future what?" I asked suspiciously.

"Nothing. You only need to know this much for now that you are my little sister and this is your family." Alpha said and turned to walk away but I asked another question.

"Then am I a wolf ? Is this why Saphire said what color I would be ? but I am human, how can I be a wolf."

" Zelda, calm down." Alpha almost ordered.

"You are not a wolf only but ... Look for now you should just trust us and look after yourself and soon you will know the entire truth." Alpha said and left.

I was speechless when another white wolf with some black marks near his hind legs came near me and said:

"I can't believe its you Z. Its been so long and wow you have grown up so much my little lady bug." said the wolf with mismatched eyes.

I looked at him like a pin head since I did not know how he knew me.

"I am Xavier. Saphire's twin and your elder brother." He said with a strange tone which felt a bit sad but neutral at the same time.

"H- hi Xavier. I really like your eyes." I said stupidly not knowing what else to say.

He was not perfect like Saphire and Alpha but he was extremely beautiful. His mismatched eyes showed a hint of sadness and I wondered what was the matter. I sorta wanted to ask him but left it at that.

Saphire came running from behind me and threw himself on Xavier, rolling around and playing. They introduced me to the rest of the pack. My eldest brother was Alpha, and two younger than Alpha were the twins. I was a Beta female of the pack and then I met Leo the omega male. Omegas are the "weak and good for nothing" wolves and basically all other wolves can bully them and even hurt them without getting punished for it. I felt pity for the poor Leo. He was a brown wolf with a hint of white near his neck and he had golden eyes. I easily became friends with all the wolves specially Leo. We sat together near the lake and enjoyed the beautiful sunset from hilltop.

Many days passed and I became even closer with the wolves. But I usually would fight with sigma males for bullying Leo. It became a routine to spend my days with the pack and enjoying sunsets with my best friend Leo.

It was a fine autumn evening when I was playing with the Kaira's babies when I heard a loud howl and it came from the deep end of the jungle. The howl came a second time but it was painful and it ended with strange sounds like a puppy was being strangled to death. Something crossed my mind and I frantically looked for Leo but I could not find him anywhere ... so I ran. I ran towards the deep forest trying to reach where the sound came from. I could hear Saphire and other wolves running behind me but when I reached the destination, I wished, again, that this was just a dream. But it was not and here was my Leo, My best friend, lying in the pool of his own blood.
