He Is a Playboy

Columbia University.

Despite Ancient One's warning that Fanny might greatly impact the world, his entrance to the university had been completely ordinary.

He had not registered for a dormitory room because he didn't want to stay on campus. But the university is quite far from home, so he planned to rent a living space near the campus.

"You sure you don't want me to drive you instead?" Skye looked around the apartment that Fanny rented.

"No, I might have to go to the temple often. It'd be more convenient to just live separately." Fanny shook his head.

Skye simply nodded and suddenly dropped a bombshell, "Okay, then I will move here too."

Fanny wasn't short on money, so he rented a quite spacious apartment. There was indeed an empty room, but he didn't expect that Skye would say that. "Wait, but why?"

"It's unfair that you get to live comfortably here," Skye replied with a pout, "People would always come to bother me in the store asking when you will come back, and it's a little awkward to just stay at home. You'll be going to school every day, so I could browse the internet quietly here on my own."

Fanny sighed internally when he heard Skye's answer. He scratched his head and carefully suggested, "By the way, you are already an adult. Don't you want to consider being independent?"

Skye's face turned red in anger and embarrassment. "I… I can pay my share of the rent, okay? Just think of it as being roommates."

She added confidently after a pause, "I wouldn't come over if our parents weren't worried that you can't take care of yourself. Do you think I want to live with you? Humph!"

Skye indignantly walked up the stairs to clean the room, leaving Fanny with his complicated feelings.

Fanny couldn't help but agree with Skye that she would be better off living with him. New York was a chaotic place, and it could be unsafe for a beautiful girl like her.

University life was more relaxed than Fanny had imagined. The major he applied for was rather unpopular, so there were not many classes, and he ended up with a lot of free time every day.

He was mainly studying ancient Sanskrit for now. He had not read most of the books in Kamar-Taj because machine translations were still very unreliable. He had tried getting Skye to help him research and create a more reliable machine translator, but the result was still pretty bad without sufficient knowledge about the language.

In the end, he asked other people to help and translate the books. He could not hold them for too long, so his progress was very slow.

It was another bright afternoon.

Fanny had no classes and was reading a textbook borrowed from the school seriously in the living room. Skye was reading a fashion magazine with a bored face beside him.

She threw away the magazine in her hand and laid herself on the soft sofa, kicking Fanny with her feet. She complained, "It's Tony Stark again; this guy is everywhere. You've been reading that book for almost a month. Aren't you bored? The weather seems to be colder recently. I'll accompany you to buy some clothes!"

Listening to Skye's endless chatter, Fanny helplessly closed his book and glared at her. "I really shouldn't have agreed to let you live here. Also, don't you have enough clothes?"

"I'm going to buy clothes for you," Skye said, barely holding a straight face. She continued with a smile, "The least you can do is help me pick a few pieces along the way."

Fanny sighed and looked at the sky outside. It was November, so such good weather was pretty rare. He looked back at Skye's eager face and finally nodded.

He caught sight of the fashion magazine that Skye had thrown from the corner of his eye; its cover was Tony Stark in a suit.

"I thought you used to like Tony Stark?"

Skye followed Fanny's gaze to the magazine. She frowned in disdain. "His skills and invention were the real deal, but this guy was actually just a playboy!"

"I'm not sure about that!" Fanny looked at Tony Stark's energetic photograph and added excitedly, "He should become a hero!"

"A hero?!" Skye looked at him with a strange look. Tony Stark had many titles. He was a billionaire, a genius, and a playboy, but almost no one had thought of him as a hero.

"He loves peace." Fanny shrugged. He didn't actually enjoy spoiling stories.

"He runs a munitions company!" Skye was a little speechless. She stopped talking about it and instead left for her room to get dressed and put on make-up.

Fanny arrived at the New York Sanctum in the evening after accompanying Skye for an entire afternoon. He opened the portal and arrived at Kamar-Taj. The cool morning air shocked him.

Each of the past few months in Kamar-Taj was comparable to an entire year of experience growth, and the bar that he emptied when extracting 'Demon Armor Incursio' was now half full.

However, his pace had slowed down recently. The first reason was that he didn't have enough time anymore. He had to put a lot of energy into translating and reading books.

The second reason was that he could not find any experience dummies. There weren't many mages who liked to fight to begin with, and Mordo was busy with his own matter recently. Fanny was often left with no sparring partner.

Fanny walked towards the training ground while thinking about solving these problems. He met a slightly chubby figure on the way and greeted him. "Good morning, Wong; you're here today too!"

Wang was yet to be the librarian and was currently a member of the Hong Kong Sanctum. He rarely visited Kamar-Taj as a result.

"Good morning, Mage Fanny." Wang politely returned the greeting, then walked to Fanny's side and asked in a low voice, "Do you have the fried chicken?"

"Uh, isn't it too greasy to eat in the morning?"

Despite saying that, Fanny still skillfully summoned 'Sumire Karaage Rolls' and handed it over.

Wong took the chicken rolls and sniffed them with an intoxicated expression. He said nonchalantly, "It doesn't matter. I have already eaten breakfast, so it's fine."

"..."

Fanny was a little speechless.

Wong was slightly weaker and slower than Mordo, but he was one of the better opponents. The experience gained today would be less than usual, but there's nothing Fanny can do about it.

After several months of training, Fanny had actually grown quite a lot. With his enriched combat experience and his special equipment 'Incursio,' he could be said to be one of Kamar Taj's experts—that was, in everything other than magic. In combat, specifically.
