When Are You Getting Married?

Liu Xiuying realized that ever since she entered the ward, she noticed that her parents were staring at her weirdly and it made her feel  uncomfortable. She looked at Old Liu and pouted her beautiful lips.

"Old Liu-"

"Where is that your friend that you have been going to meet for some time now?" Old Liu eyed his daughter's outfit suspiciously.

"I... Old Liu, I know you guys are worried about the friends I make, but you have to trust me. I'm not a child anymore" Liu Xiuying knew that she had no way to escape, so she said these words.

If she continued to tell lies, her parents would eventually find out. Her parents had tried their best to make up for the times they had missed. Ever since Old Liu had that disease, Liu Xiuying had been the one taking care of herself whenever Qiao Liuli went to the hospital to take care of Old Liu.

She had become independent since then and had tried not to depend on her parents, and do things all by herself.

"YingYing, we are not trying to stop you from making friends with whoever you want, but you are still our daughter. We have every right to protect you" Qiao Liuli, who was in the bathroom, suddenly came out and said in a calm voice.

Liu Xiuying turned her head to look at her Qiao Liuli when she heard her voice. Her gaze softened as her lips curled up. She stood up and walked towards her mother. "Mom, I know what you are trying to say"

She reached out to grab the bowl of water Qiao Liuli was holding and entered the bathroom to continue what Qiao Liuli was doing. Liu Xiuying's beautiful soft voice sounded again. "I'm still your baby even if I'm a grown-up"

"It's good that you know" Qiao Liuli entered the bathroom and looked at Liu Xiuying. "We are only trying to protect our little baby"

Qiao Liuli's voice made Liu Xiuying's heart warmed up. She turned her head and her gaze landed on her mom's beautiful face. She grabbed the towel at the side to wipe her wet hands and smiled at her mother. "I love you, mom"

Qiao Liuli smiled sweetly at her daughter and quickly urged her to leave the bathroom. Since Liu Xiuying had not eaten dinner, Qiao Liuli went out to buy dinner for her.

Liu Xiuying's eyes turned red and a teary mist covered them, but she bit her lips to control her tears from falling. She raised her head, staring at the ceiling and she sighed.

"YingYing, are you sure you are okay?" Old Liu's deep voice made her turn her head to look at him.

"Old Liu, I don't know" Her voice was low and trembling. It was as if she was trying to control her emotions.

She didn't know why she was feeling this way. It was as if she was feeling stuffy. She reached out to rub her chest, but she still wasn't feeling good. She stood up and walked towards the window. She pulled open the curtains and stared out of the window.

The scenery outside was beautiful and the night breeze was refreshing. She closed her eyes, feeling the breeze against her face, making her breath out in relief.

She reached out to untie her hair, removing the hair band and letting her black hair fall behind her back. The night breeze blew harder, ruffling her hair, making her look extremely beautiful. Her hair got stuck to her face and she reached out to tuck it gently behind her ear.

"YingYing?" Old Liu's voice sounded in the silent room.

Liu Xiuying turned her head to look at her father. She leaned her back against the windows and revealed a vibrant smile. "Old Liu, don't you think the night breeze is very cool? How about I take you out to feel the breeze against your skin?"

Old Liu smiled as his eyes turned crescent in shape. Although he had become thinner and his cheekbones were starting to show, he still didn't look haggard. He still looked handsome and when he smiled, his smile made Liu Xiuying feel warm in her heart.

"YingYing, are you forgetting something?"

Liu Xiuying raised her brow.

"I can't go out in the night anymore until I have my surgery done"

Liu Xiuying nodded and said, "That's true"

The doctors had clearly warned them not to allow him to go out at night and because his body was not strong enough, a little cold could have a terrible effect on his health and it would be dangerous.

Just thinking of this, Liu Xiuying facepalmed and hurriedly closed the window. She walked towards Old Liu and took his hand in hers, and then she lowered her head to blow gently on his hand. "Old Liu, it's just a matter of time" she raised her head to look at him and smiled, "You are definitely going to be okay. Once this is done, you'll be fine and you'll be able to go back home. Also, you will be able to start work again after you have finally recovered"

Although she was saying those words to Old Liu, she was trying to calm her worried heart down. The doctor had told them that the surgery was 50-50. Old Liu's body was not as strong as it was when he was young, so they had to get the surgery done as soon as possible.

Old Liu knew what she was thinking and patted her head, saying, "YingYing, you worry too much. It's making me feel like I don't care about my health"

Liu Xiuying pouted her lips, tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at her father's smiling face. "Dad..."

"It's okay, YingYing. I was only joking and you are already crying. Are you a cry baby?" Old Liu laughed loudly.

Suddenly, he froze. "What did you just call me?"

"Dad"

Upon hearing Liu Xiuying's calm and soft voice say again, he felt his heart leap into his throat and his lips trembled. He was overwhelmed with emotions and didn't know what to say for a long time.

He could remember that his daughter hadn't called him dad for a long time and it made him feel like he had failed Liu Xiuying in everything.

His gaze landed on his daughter's face and he felt emotional, "YingYing, I'm sorry. I've not been able to take good care of you like a father should do"

Liu Xiuying felt her nose sting as tears began to roll down her cheeks. Her grip tightened on her father's hand and she shook her head, "No, dad, it's not your fault. It's not your fault. You have to get well as soon as possible, so you will be able to perform your duties as a father and a husband. Mom needs you. YingYing needs you also"

Old Liu's shaky hands reached out to wipe her tears. He nodded and smiled, "Yes, I'll be fine for the both of you"

As if Old Liu remembered something, he asked, "YingYing, when are you going to get married?"
