One leg in, one out

"you said you would gift me the moon if you could

And here, in this little dark moment. You would not hold me a candle."

"You like sunsets?" She asked. Fareed had been mute the whole time leaving her with the burden of carrying on the conversation, all of a sudden he would pester to see her, then in front of her he would go dumb and she would itch to fill up the silence. Even as it made her talk meaninglessly.

She felt invisible, shrinking smaller and smaller in his presence, the way he looked at her, like she was something wrong. Maybe it was her face that had gotten darker and he noticed the antagonism her skin had with summer and the heat.

Wiping her oily cheek dry, she looked away having run out of what to say, she guessed he was thinking she wasn't worth the chase after all. She wouldn't mind but she knew a part of her would break, not for being attached to him, but for ever considering him in the first place. giving him space just for him to prove she wasn't worth it.
