The warm air blows past a girl with pink hair as she lays on the grass field. She blocks her eyes from the bright sun. While her other hand touches the grass. She sighed heavily as she was going through tough times.
"Why can't the world be always this peaceful?" She said softly talking to no one in particular.
"Cedany! Where are you!?" A high-pitched voice asked.
"Shit." The girl with pink hair cussed quietly. She rolled over to see the figure looking for her. She tried her best to hide, however, it seems that the figure was coming closer to her.
"There you are!" The woman with a high-pitched voice said loudly.
"Why must the Goddess do this to me?" Cedany rolled her eyes still in the exact position as she was before.
"Please don't run off like that again—c'mon girl!" The woman held Cedany's arm tightly trying to pick her up. Cedany hissed from the pain in her arm and she quickly got up. She shrugged off the woman's hand away from her. "Don't give me that attitude! After making me run after you, don't you know that it was such a long jog? Let's go back before your mother gets angry at me."
Cedany didn't say anything as she knows she can do nothing about it. She followed the woman to the Shaw Residence.
Once they got there the guards greeted them, the woman blushed as she saw a certain guard and the guard gave her a smirk. 'I don't have time for this, the audacity of this maid.' Cedany was annoyed by the maid.
When Cedany got inside the mansion she was greeted by her stepfather. She bowed to show respect even if it was against her will. She has no choice, but to go along with what her mother wants. Her stepfather gave her a creepy smile. "I'm here now, father." As she said that, she could taste the bitterness inside her mouth. It made her sick.
"Yes, welcome home my dear!" Her stepfather put an arm around her. She felt disgusted, she wanted so badly to wash her body from his touch. "Your mother will be delighted to see that we're having a great bonding time." He escorted Cedany to his study room.
Inside, her mother was sitting on a sofa. When she saw her husband and her daughter, she smiled joyfully.
"Aren't you two having so much fun together?" Cedany's mother greeted her husband with a peck. "I heard from Daisy that you ran off from your private tutor again?" Her mother had a hint of disappointment in her voice.
'That damn maid!' Cedany thought to herself as she closed her eyes trying to calm herself.
"Sorry, mother. I suddenly wanted some fresh air. I promise I won't run off like that again." She was tired of always obeying and apologizing. However, what was she able to do? It's not like she's financially stable to even run away from everything.
"Don't do it again. By the way, a visitor is waiting for us, so please make yourself look pleasing to the eyes. You look like those homeless people we saw yesterday, do something about your appearance. Daisy!" Her mother called out to the maid.
The maid hurriedly walks toward Cedany's mother. "What is it, Madam?" Daisy, the maid who caught Cedany earlier asked.
"Make my daughter look presentable to the guest! I can't bear to even look at my daughter right now." Cedany's mother looked away from her as Daisy immediately pulled Cedany away from the room. Cedany could hear the laughter of her stepfather fading away as she was being pulled away from the scene.
She got to her room and Daisy immediately scolded her. All that Cedany could do was look down on the floor. It was like any other day, the same things that they say. It was nothing different. After Daisy scolded her, Daisy hurriedly put on a gown for Cedany and did her hair.
"All done— now, don't you ruin my hard work and go down immediately before your mother abolishes me." Daisy rolled her eyes at Cedany who was spacing out. Cedany got to her senses and went down to greet the guest her mother was talking about.
She opened the door to the living room and she was greeted by a woman with a green cloak.
"Hello, pleased to meet you! You are Cedany Shaw, isn't that right?" The woman's smile was kind.
"Yes, and you are?" Cedany asked, with a gaze you can compare to a dumbfounded fauna.
"Cedany, manners!" Cedany's mother muttered loudly enough to make Cedany hear. All that Cedany could do was look down, ashamed.
"There's no need to know my name. I'm from Acantha and I'm here to deliver an invitation from Acantha Academy." The woman gave her a letter. Cedany opened it and read it loudly so her mother could hear.
"Acantha Academy?" The mother, expresses her surprise in a dramatic gasp "They want my daughter?" She scoffed and left a pregnant pause, "Are they out of their minds?" Proceeds to insult Cedany, but she is unfazed.
