Memories of the Dark: "The Servants And Their Masters"

Lianna Morris,

Cedany was a few meters away from me and I quickly jogged toward her with dramatic effects.

"Where have you been?" Cedany asked.

"I—someone choked me!"

It wasn't genuinely crying, I wasn't hurt at all. However! I can't let someone who choked me off the hook.

"Who?"

"Charles the Great!" I whined and Cedany looked at me in disbelief.

"I'm pretty sure Charles the Great is buried under the ground for him to choke you."

"Really?" Cedany smiled at me and patted my head.

"It's alright I can choke him even if he is buried under the ground." What a good friend she is!

"Y'all are weird." Gavin said out of nowhere. I just realized his existence.

"Why are you here?" I asked Gavin and I felt my anger again just from seeing this skunk's face.

"I've always been here. I kept Cedany company while Lief and Peronell looked for you." Gavin gave me a smirk.

"Do you want me to wipe that nasty smirk from your ugly face? Don't make me." I rolled up my sleeve.

"I dare you." Gavin is really trying to test my patience.

"That's enough you two. We need to find Peronell and unfortunately Lief too."

I calmed down, of course since Cedany said to do so.

"Unfortunately Lief too? Why unfortunately?" Gavin looked offended.

I laughed and Gavin glared at me.

"Well, unfortunately, we have to look for a grown man, isn't it?" Cedany looked like she didn't see anything wrong with her statement.

"I won't argue with you, since it's true, unfortunately." Gavin finally agreed to Cedany's statement.

I looked at the two and there is something going on between them two while I was gone. Cedany is cheating on me, but I did practically cheat on her too. Since I kept complimenting the beautiful Beatrix. I still looked at Gavin in disgust.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Gavin asked and I turned away from him.

"Hmph!" I pouted while Cedany looked at me in confusion.

Peronell Keen,

"We've been looking for her for about 10 minutes now, maybe we should head back. She probably went back already." I was panting as we looked all over for Lianna.

"You're probably right. Let's head back then." Lief scratched his head in frustration.

"Are you alright? You look uneasy." He looked like he has something on his mind throughout our search for Lianna.

"I have this thing that I can somehow feel when something bad is gonna happen. In this place, I feel it. However, let's not worry about it. It's probably just me." Lief gave me a reassuring smile.

"I believe you, I don't feel good about this whole thing either. It is very weird how they suddenly wanted me as this so-called representative and I don't even leave the Keen Residence for years. " It was suspicious, plus the man in they sent me gave me shivers.

"Whatever happens, I'll protect everyone." Lief reassured and I nodded with a smile.

While we walked back to where we came from, I suddenly felt a presence that went by like a wind. I looked back to see no one out of the ordinary. I shrugged it off as I caught up to Lief.

We went inside the Academy, everyone was waiting for us. Well, everyone but Tristan that is.

"We'll just explore around." Lief said to us, he soon left with Gavin.

"I have something I want to talk to you about." I murmured to the ladies.

"Is there something wrong?" Lianna was sweaty all over her face down to her neck.

"Why are you sweaty?" I asked Lianna and she seemed to hate that I asked that.

"I ran away from a sloth." Lianna replied. Is that irony or is she telling the truth? Or is it both?

"She got choked by Charles the Great." Cedany finally said something as I gasped.

"How?! I thought he was dead?!" I can't believe Charles the Great is still alive. Did he come back from the dead?!

"I can't believe the two of you share one brain cell." Lianna sighed, we just looked at her in confusion, "Anyhow! What is this something you wanted to talk about?" she asked once again.

"This is not the place to talk about it." They nodded as they understood.

"What's with the serious look on your faces?" Tristan suddenly popped out of nowhere.

"Where have you been?" Tristan shrugged at Cedany's question.

"I, unfortunately, shared a carriage with a bunch of no brains." Tristan's fake tears dramatically fell slowly from his eyes.

"No brains? Who exactly are these no brains?" I was curious, I could tell the other ladies were curious as well.

"I think their names were Rick, Jose, and Pay me." Tristan looked like he thought about their names carefully.

"Pay me? What kind of name is Pay me?" Cedany was in disbelief, I am too, honestly.

"I think Pay me's parents let people loan from them, but never got the money back. So in honour of that money, they named their child 'Pay me'. That's just sad." Lianna is just making up stories at this point.

"I agree, he does look rich. Pay me looks like he can loan me a lot of money." Tristan nodded and agreed with Lianna.

"What about Rick and Jose? What are they like?" Tristan looked scared so suddenly when Cedany mentioned those basic names.

"They were the worst. Pay me was just blabbering nonsense the whole ride, however, those two. Those two..." Tristan put both his hands on his mouth, he looked traumatized. Tristan looked like the painting 'The scream' by Edvard Munch.

"Their names sound like some kind of basic villagers. What can be so traumatizing about them?" I laughed as Tristan held both my hands.

"They both said that I was an ugly narcissist! They were ganging up on me! While Pay me said that they should o easy on me." Tristan was talking very fast that I could barely catch up with what he was talking about.

"I can't believe they said that to a beauty like you." I played along.

"Thy beauty shan't be disrespected like this!" Lianna joined in and Cedany watched us fool around.

"I know right?" Tristan sniffled.

"Rick and Jose are right about the narcissistic part, however, you are not ugly at all. We can all agree with that." Cedany looked at Tristan who stopped whining.

"Yeah, I won't forget about how bad your behaviour was in our first encounter." Our first encounter replayed inside my head.

"Forgive me about our bad encounter. I was in a bad mood, you can't blame me!" Tristan exclaimed.

"All right. I forgive you, but in return, you shall protect me from any danger. So basically you are now my slave." I smiled evilly as Tristan gulped loudly.

"I never agreed—" Tristan was cut off because I pulled him by his collar.

"Don't say anything. You will be upgraded from slave to guard once you've done something for me. I will let you speak freely once you've become a guard." I let go of him.

"You can't speak to a viscount's son like that." Tristan snarled.

"I am a baron's daughter. A baron-merchant to be exact." I boasted as Tristan looked at me in disbelief.

"You do know that a viscount is a higher rank than a baron right?" Lianna asked.

"Of course! I'm not dumb and still, I have a friend whose father is a grand duke!" I boasted once again. Cedany put her palm on her forehead.

"Who is this friend? Did you bring them with you?" Tristan looked around frantically.

"It's Cedany!" Lianna reveal and she looked proud for some reason, I guess I am too.

"What?! You?" Tristan looked at Cedany in disbelief.

"Yes." Cedany confirmed and Tristan passed out on the ground.

"Hey! I will get scolded if they see my servant sleeping on the ground." I kicked Tristan lightly.

"Today, the representatives will go to their homeroom and meet their adviser. The adviser will guide you and tell you everything that you need to know. We will also be having our student council voting as well, so please look forward to that and participate. Of course, only the representatives are allowed to be nominated." The staff started to guide us to our homeroom, "The representatives will be having a proper tour around the Academy after our student council voting. The student council election will take place inside our main hall." it was well-planned as it should be.

Everyone stopped at a huge gold door, this must be it. The staff opened the door and all of the representatives flooded in. Everyone started sitting down.

Cedany sat near the window in the fourth row, of course, Lianna followed her and sat beside her. I didn't wanna be left out as I sat beside Lianna. Tristan sat on the fifth row just at the back of us. I noticed that Lief was sitting next to Gavin in the second row.

"Who's that girl?" Lianna whispered to me and Cedany was looking as well.

There I saw Lief talking to a girl who has glasses on. They were laughing while talking, and Gavin was part of the conversation.

"They sure look like they're having fun. He already replaced you that fast, huh?" Tristan teased and I glared at him.

"I never gave you the right to talk, servant boy." Tristan quickly behaved, as he should.

"Was there something between you two in the first place though?" I shook my head at Cedany's question.

"We're just friends. Lief is a nice guy, however, I never thought of him in that kind of way. I'd say he's more of a big brother to me." Cedany smiled at me.

"He does give that energy." Lianna agreed and Tristan just shrugged.

"What about you, Cedany?" I asked.

"I think so as well." Cedany replied.

"No, about Gavin."

I made it clear and Lianna looked at Cedany. She seems curious as well.

"Why are you asking? He's like a little brother to me, he reminds me of a childhood friend of mine." I remembered that Cedany mentioned it once to us back then.

"Then it might be him." Lianna looked threatened at my statement.

"No way!" Lianna quickly denied it.

"I don't know. He did mention something similar that happened to me back then, but the childhood friend that he mentioned was a male friend." Lianna sighed in relief.

"Right! There is no way someone will mistake you for a man. Men are disgusting creatures! There is no way you look like those ugly creatures." Lianna had a proud look plastered on her face.

"Of course, our Lady Shaw is a fallen angel from heaven after all." I played along as Lianna nodded.

Cedany looked away in embarrassment, I giggled at her adorable reaction.

Cedany Shaw,

The room was filled with voices from the other representatives. We've been waiting for our adviser, and just as I was about to think of where they might be, the door opened. A guy walked in, he was wearing glasses and he was holding some stuff. The others noticed and the room suddenly became quiet.

"Good morning, representatives. My name is Miller Ward, you can drop the formalities and just call me Mr. Miller. I'm your adviser and I will guide you all in any way that I can, so I want us all to get along as much as possible." Mr. Miller put down his stuff on the table. No one said anything, but we were all paying attention to him. "Hmm... to remove the heavy tension in this room, why don't you all ask me questions? However, you guys should say your name before asking so I'll be able to remember your names." Mr. Miller said.

A guy with long silky black hair stood up. What kind of question will he ask? Is it a serious one?

"Ulric, Ulric Montfort. When does class end?" Ulric asked as he leans over the table. Nevermind then.

"It depends on the day, but today you guys won't be having a class. We're just going to have an election for the student councils." Mr. Miller answers.

William raised a hand and Mr. Miller nodded in response allowing him to ask away.

"I am William Hawk, the second prince of Andraste. The question I want to ask has always been on my mind since the day I got the letter. What does Acantha mean by representatives? Why aren't we like the normal students of Acantha? It's the first time Acantha has these things called representatives as of what I read in the history of Acantha." I stared at him blankly. Of course, I also had that in my mind.

"That is also what I do not know, but as all of you should know we shan't question the Goddess' decisions and doings. So I did not bother asking the others as I do not want to offend anyone. However if I ever do know what it means and what you guys are going to accomplish in the end, I will tell you all." Mr. Miller settles down at the table, he asked if there were any more questions and no one else wanted to ask a question. "Then, I will announce the assigned roommates." He wrote something on the board.

What Mr. Miller wrote were the assigned roommates. Thankfully, I was with both my friends. While the others seem to like the results as well, of course, there were still people who did not seem pleased.

"I hope that the dorm is much better than that room back on the ship we sailed in." Tristan commented as I nodded in agreement.

"Hopefully, we'll have the option of changing and designing." Lianna her eyes sparkled.

"That's too troublesome to do alone." Peronell looked tired just from thinking about it.

I noticed that the room started to become livelier. Probably because of the dorm system. It did lighten me up as well, just thinking about my bed makes me happy. Suddenly the bell rang for some reason.

"All right, children. This is the queue, we will be going to the main hall now. I want you all to peacefully go to the main hall. Do not worry, I will guide you there." Mr. Miller smiled.

We got up from our seats and followed Mr. Miller's instructions.
