As the wings behind him flicked fiercely, James propelled Tony into the air, breaking the sound barrier in mere seconds. Had it not been for James' grip, the roar of the sonic boom might have left Tony stunned.
Even so, the acceleration surged through Tony's body, causing his blood to race and his stomach to churn.
"Go slow, I'm feeling dizzy!" Tony exclaimed, his voice slightly muffled by his helmet.
James halted mid-air, hovering effortlessly. "This is a warning. I don't want to be your enemy, Mr. Stark, but you need to remember this moment."
With that, James released Tony, sending the armored figure plummeting. In a flash, James descended faster than the suit itself, retracting his wings and landing gracefully near the Ferris wheel, where Clarice was still enjoying the ride.
"Brother, where are my stars?" Clarice asked eagerly, her big eyes sparkling.
"The stars? They were so ugly, I lost them," James teased.
"Lost? They won't break, right?" Clarice's concern was palpable.
"Let's hope they have good luck…" James grinned, his heart racing as he imagined the consequences of his playful words.
A flicker of fire lit up in the distance as Tony regained control of his suit. "So far, so good…" he muttered, but the disappointment was clear in his tone.
The first flight of the new ark-type suit hadn't gone as Tony had envisioned. While the flight parameters showed promise, issues with stability and material icing needed urgent attention. But the biggest concern? Speed.
As a single-soldier aircraft, speed and agility were non-negotiable. Despite the suit's flexibility—thanks to Jarvis adapting to Tony's movements—the flight speed was eclipsed by James' capabilities. It left Tony feeling frustrated and defeated.
To enhance speed, Tony knew he had to either reduce weight or increase thruster power. Reducing weight would compromise defense, and designing a lightweight suit wasn't on his agenda just yet. So, the only option left was to upgrade the ark-reactor.
Tony glanced at a glass filled with a green liquid on his desk. Increasing the reactor's output would likely mean increasing its toxicity as well. He'd have to consume more detoxifying chlorophyll drinks, a necessary but unpleasant task.
"Perhaps a liquid filtration system for the suit?" he pondered, imagining a solution to keep himself safe from the reactor's side effects.
James' unexpected appearance had forced Tony to reevaluate his design—what he once thought was a masterpiece now felt flawed and inadequate. The upcoming test flight would only add to his workload.
But there was another mystery that nagged at Tony's mind—the strange fire he had witnessed surrounding James during their encounter. With his extensive knowledge, he couldn't decipher it, and that irritated him. He prided himself on understanding everything in his world, and this was an anomaly he needed to investigate.
The days passed, with James frequently visiting Clarice, engaging in all sorts of playful antics. He had hoped to invite Shang-Chi to join them, but the timing never aligned.
Finally, the day of the charity dinner arrived. That evening, James accompanied Uncle Will to the Disney Music Auditorium.
