Chapter 7 Encounter with her

Lao used every bit of his power to get to the town. His legs were trembling from the sudden rush of energy, and his eyes were turning into pink due to the high blood pressure.

" I have to hurry."

He muttered, recalling the faces of those who respected and loved their temple with their all. These people were under protection of Harmony Temple for many years, he can't let them die in flame. Although, the fire was getting stronger, he knew something was amiss in this situation.

There was no fire just a few moments ago. They were preparing to have lunch like their usual days.

Step*

Suddenly, he saw an unknown woman in front of him. Her hair was blowing softly under the wind, and her eyes excluded charm that attracted other sentient beings.

Lao regarded as a guest since the temple was the place where people often visit and get spirit blessing from the old spirit tree.

" Who are you? What is happening down there?"

Lao asked, looking at her with expectations to hear calming words, but the reality was harsh. Her words splashed cold water on his face.

" Hmm, they ate, probably burning to ashes. My fire isn't a simple fire, after all."

The witch said, gazing at the young monk with interest. Unlike traditional monks, Lao wasn't bald, and he was carrying a sword on his back. Moreover, he was handsome enough to charm young ladies of his age and his eyes were glowing mysteriously under the sun.

" You have great eyes."

The witch commented, linking her slightly dried lips. Lao's hair spiked out when he heard her words. He understood she wasn't a guest that came here to get a blessing. He quickly reached out to his sword and pulled out from its sheath.

1.2 meters sword wasn't no joke since it was made from the mystic ice metal and blessing of the world tree. It was an artifact that was passed down to the bravest monks in the temple. Obviously, he beat up other disciples to get this sword.

Shing*

He cut the air as the wind screeched with fury. Sharp sword energy galloped towards the witch to cut her down. Unfortunately, the witch wasn't simple.

" Level 5. Clearly an unusual kid. You have both mana and qi, yet you surpassed the limit of the martial techniques of the old times. How are you still alive?"

She said, looking at him with curiosity. Theoretically, mana and qi are polar opposite of energies that will clash once they had taken in one place. Qi is life essence of the living beings and mana is energy of origin that have created way before anything. One is calm, mild, and the other is powerful and destructive.

A person who uses both energies cannot go up beyond 4th level; otherwise they would turn into a bomb that can go off anytime, but that didn't apply for Lao.

Lao is an offspring of spirit and a human; hence he had more tenacity than normal humans. Moreover, he has a special power called " Eyes of the Realm" that can help him to guide the flow of his energies. Furthermore, he can access to spirit realm like elders of the temple.

" Why don't you try yourself?"

Lao shouted, slashing his sword to her waist with incredible force and speed.

Ting*

Lao felt numbness in his hands. He opened his eyes with disbelief as he watched her with horror. She caught his sword with one hand. Her skin wasn't cut and she looked perfectly fine under such attack.

" You lack experience and technique. Your master would have injured me if he fought me here. Pity, your master has been taken away by those lunatics."

She chatted, gesturing her four orbs to move. Before Lao could ask what did she mean in that sentence, her orbs reached him.

" Agh!"

Lao screamed with pain, not available to endure the heat of the fire. His skin and hair were burning in naked eyes. He mustered the last bit of his strength to grab her ankle.

" You have the will of your master, but that is it."

Witch said, kicking away his hand with indifference. She was accustomed to seeing such sights, since her feelings were numbed by her despair and anger for the continent.
