Chapter 3 Farewell

Mery didn't say anything as she clenched her sword. A bluish aura rose from her sword and she charged toward the gate with her knight.

Bang*

With a single slash of her sword, she took down the entire fortified gate by herself. This horrified the guards who were protecting the gate with their lives. They heard the rose of the knight was unimaginably strong, but this was a whole new different level. She was no different from her husband whose fame spread far away to other kingdoms.

" Surrender, or I will have to move."

Mery shouted, demanding surrender from the soldiers. The soldiers immediately lost their morale since their general was protecting the lord. Either it was their lives or deaths.

" Please, don't kill us."

The soldiers surrendered themselves to the knights. The knights looked at them with despise because they were taught that only cowards surrender. Hence, they didn't think they were worthy of their swords.

" Please give your weapons to the soldiers and wait for further instructions."

Mery said, heading towards the castle. The woman with white armor came next to her as she watched the soldiers with a frown.

" Captain, isn't it a good idea to kill them? They might backstab us."

She spoke, showing her merciless side to Mery. Mery glanced at her with dissatisfaction. She knew this woman was an absolute supporter of the royal family and she was an investigator under her banner of hers.

" No, we don't need to waste time here. We need to take the lord down and conquer this castle."

She said loudly, reminded that she wasn't alone. The woman looked at her with resentment and anger. She gritted her teeth while thinking about the possibilities that can give her a chance to end this woman. She was a double-edged sword that could go wild and the royal family was ready to destroy her, but there was one big obstacle in their road. General Ragnar was her husband, so it was basically impossible to threaten her without logical reasons. Moreover, she had high authority in the military.

Neigh*

Mery stopped her horse. The dust swirled around as a burly man came out from it. He was holding a great sword and wearing heavy armor. His eyes were solemn and he was excluding bone-chilling killing intent.

This man was a famous brigadier general. He was smoking while waiting for their arrival. The knights pointed their weapons at him, but Mery stopped them.

" General Raol, surrender peacefully and we will show you mercy. I respect you because you are a sincere and kind person."

Mery spoke while taking out her sword. Her aura was huge enough to overwhelm this man. Even so, Raol never bent his knees. He swore that he would protect his lord. Therefore, he didn't show any intent to surrender.

" Mery, you know this is wrong. Please consider it again. The king is greedy for the south and he will dirty to get a hand on their wealth."

Raol spoke as he tried to reason with her. The south was the most wealthy area in the kingdom. Because of this, the king was ready to dismantle the duke family who was serving for generations. They were falsely accused by the royalties and other nobles.

" Silence, traitor. How dare you tarnish the honor of the royal family? Our king is wise and merciful. He had given the conditions to your lord before. Yet, he dares to tear apart that and aim his dagger at his throat."

The Vice-captain shouted, showing her maniac side. Raol immediately understood this woman was a hard-core supporter of the royal family.

He snorted as he slashed toward her with his sword. The great energy of the sword cut everything in its way.

Bang*

Mery stood before her and blocked the slash with her sword. Her beautiful face was both calm and sad at the same time. She knew there was no use to convince him anymore since he dared to attack them. She silently closed her eyes and whispered.

" I am sorry, Raol. However, this is for the peace of the kingdom."

She appeared next to him and slashed her sword down. Raol who knew this was going to happen, didn't try to resist at all.
