Chapter 8 Endless sand

KYUU*

The desert hawk squawks as it descends to the lower altitude, looking for a place to rest in this hot place. Although it was born in the desert, it was still a hatchling, so it had barely stamina, unlike its mature form which could prey on monsters and animals.

Soon, it found a caravan that seemed to be moving toward the south. It understood this caravan must have water and food. Thus, he landed on the shoulder of a man who was leading behind the man with a windbreaker. For some reason, this man seemed to be pleasing in his eyes and he had cool air around him which pleased and cooled him down.

Licht who was caught off guard, looked at the little bird on his shoulder with a blank face, not knowing what to do. Chono who saw this growled at the hawk, but the little guy disregarded him because he thought he was just a regular wolf with white fur.

Enraged Chono whose partner was stolen from him, wanted to tear off its wings, but amused Licht signaled him to stop since he felt it was some kind of fate to meet it.

" Ah, it is the messenger of the sun. We southern folks call desert hawks the divine sun messenger due to their beauty and intelligence. Besides, Sun Temple strictly prohibits anyone from hunting them."

Agam said calmly while fishing out beef jerky from his mouth, and handing it to the little guy. The hawk seemed to understand his words as it proudly stuck out its chest, acknowledging its majesty.

" Buhaha, it is really rare to see an animal that could understand humans. Especially, since we are talking in the Western continent language. As expected from the land of gods."

Daemon laughed, trying to pet its head, but the hawk dodged immediately as it sat on Licht's other shoulder with disapproval. It pecked on Licht's head, trying to say it didn't allow anyone except Agam and Licht to touch it.

" What an interesting fellow! You seemed to be a girl too."

Licht guessed its gender, touching her little head with a gentle look because he adored animals. Especially he liked wolves and birds due to their natures. The wolf symbolized power and loyalty and the bird symbolized freedom and peace.

The hawk closed her eyes with pleasure, rubbing her head to his palm. She liked this human from the beginning, but the wolf pestered her to be able to contact him. His cold eyes were still on her tiny body, trying to scare her away. However, as a bird with sun power, how could she be scared by a wolf who had no power in her domain? Furthermore, she was confident that she could beat this wolf out when she grew up.

" This bird seemed to adore you much. Should we keep it?"

Cynthia said with a happy tone while offering water to her. The bird recognized her goodwill as it sipped the water with a chirp to express her gratitude.

" Impossible. The desert hawks are spiritual animals that value their freedom more than any animal in this world. Even Sun Priests cannot tame them or contract with them."

Agam shook his head despite their groan. He swore he never seen a person with a contracted sun hawk in his life. They loved hanging around humans, but they hated it when it came to any cage or restraint. Hence, the young hatchlings die rather than submit to the humans.

Little did he know that his perception would be changed forever because he saw something outrageous. In the heat of the moment, the little hawk who felt a strong attraction to Licht made a pact with him as an emblem of flames appeared on his hand. Moreover, the true ice emblem also glowed brightly seemingly to express its dissatisfaction toward Licht as Chono roared at her with fury.

The little girl seemed to be happy at his anger as she sat on Licht's head. The squad immediately fell into an uproar because they saw something ridiculous again. Licht wasn't a summoner or a tamer, yet he was able to contract two spiritual animals with polar opposite elements which was unheard of in history.

" What the fuck? Again, who the hell are you?"

Agam shouted, pulling his hair out with stress.
