Chapter 22 Respective feeling

Licht and Regina left the slave market with 3 people. The duo hung their heads low weakly because they could only free 3 people from their clutches. Nonetheless, they found themselves good partners who could potentially rival their squad mates. Especially, they were from different races, so they could utilize unique racial advantages like Lisha who could harness true ice power.

Obviously, there were a few drawbacks like racial weakness and social standings. Even with a saint, one couldn't possibly erase slave marks despite being freed from slave hood.

" Do you want to follow us? What about you, elf? We could send you to your home since you have a family and a home, unlike these poor fellows."

Regina spoke gently, caressing the heads of young children. Her hand felt silkie smooth feeling and she liked petting them since they were cute and clean after being washed up. The kids seemed to enjoy her touching as they unknowingly purred like cats.

" I don't know. I want to go home but something is telling me to stay with you."

Yelena whispered, not knowing what to do. Perhaps, she fell for the young man since she didn't taste her first love yet or her fate was intervened with them. As an elf who believed in world tree and fate, she thought they might be her calling.

" Then, stay with us for now. We will depart to the capital of the holy country soon."

Licht answered calmly, scanning her with his amber eyes. Viktor told him that this elf was a youngling and she had a great potential to become a legendary elven warrior like in the human folklore. Except for her little weakness, Licht could see why she was valued so highly. Her face and body were beautiful. Moreover, she was a strong and talented elf, so many people desired to own her despite being warned. An elf was no joke when it came to slavement, their powerful blessing and mana allowed them to overwrite simple slave marks, thus giving merchants a headache.

That is the reason for elven slaves being so low in number besides dragons and demons. It was impossible to enslave faeries, spirits, or something like that, hence many people believed elves were good substitutes for them.

Yelena crunched her nose when she heard about the capital. This was the place where humans worshipped celestial gods along with many races, but in the darkness of such a grand city, various disgusting schemes lurked behind the scenes.

By avoiding churches, many criminals lived like loyal patrons in the city as they secretly manipulated markets like this. Even great saints, God warriors, and paladins couldn't crack them down.

" I will tag along with you."

Yelena said gently, hiding her moving ears. Her ears moved when she was embarrassed or felt strong emotions and Licht found this cute. Subconsciously he extended his hand, rubbing the moving ear with a dazed look because he found them cute and interesting.

Taken by his actions, Yelena jumped back with a shriek. She cautiously looked at him, hiding her ears in the hood. Regina who also saw this gulped as she wanted to touch her ears.

" Um, our ears are a little sensitive and so beastmen feel the same. Unlike humans, we have great sense capabilities."

Yelena explained, not wanting them to touch her ears again. However, she underestimated other's curiosity because even though she told them to back off, there were 2 curious children whose eyes were shining.

It was indeed true that they were sensitive in certain areas like ears, but two children who never saw elves were curious about her ears. They were exactly the same as their elders described and they were moving.

" Ah!"

Two hands rubbed her ears, as she moaned. Her face lit up immediately as she jumped on the roof of a nearby building and looked down.

Crack*

"?!"

Yelena who finally sighed with relief, looked down and realized she was standing in the old house with no maintenance. There was no living being inside it, but the roof caved in as people shifted their gazes to her, finding her in the rumbles.

"..."

Yelena awkwardly dusted her clothes and coughed to remind others. Nobles and merchants who were looking at her with interest laughed at her.
