Chapter 31 It is a long day

" Ugh!"

Qattara groaned, feeling nausea after a long battle and a coma from backlash. She opened her eyes, looking around to drink some water to ease her fatigue and nausea except she forgot she was on a wolf.

" Ah, shit!"

She rolled down to the dune, cursing out loud because she failed to take a grip and the little guys couldn't help her.

" Ice!"

A sigh escaped from Licht who was bandaged from the injury that he received from the big insects. His body was aching terribly due to overdrawn mana and stamina, but he was used to it, so he just went through it somehow.

" You took 2 days to wake up, Qattara."

Licht spoke calmly, extending his hand toward her while walking with his sword as a cane.

Qattara grabbed his hand, feeling a little embarrassed before all these people, but she couldn't do anything except act like it never happened in the first place. The group seemed to notice her gaze as they avoided her gaze.

" Because it is a divine weapon. No human can tolerate them without gaining divine power. Even so, the sheer strength of my weapon can easily kill anyone."

She grumbled with a heavy face, looking at Lisha who was feeding the little hawk. She could tell this girl had some serious power like her which was surprising since every squad member of Licht seemed to elite of some factions.

" Don't gaze at her too hard, you are gonna drill a hole in her head. I assume you think we are some kind of mutants or a secret force of a big country. Don't worry we are not. We are an elite special squad of Stormwind kingdom that has a mission in the capital of Holy Kingdom."

Daemon spilled the beans without any nolanchy on his face. Licht didn't mind his honesty because he owed a life to her. Besides, he trusted in his guts, believing she wouldn't betray him. She had no strength to run away either she had no interest in more money.

" So, where are we heading now?"

Qattara asked them, observing the scorpion with a complicated look. She couldn't believe the majestic royal scorpion would be screwing around humans like a dog. Moreover, this guy seemed to be extremely close to Daemon who was feeding him some meat.

The scorpion seemed to notice her gaze as he waved his claws in a friendly manner which almost tripped her down. A natural disaster was talking with a human, even more absurdly he was enjoying it.

" You know my wolf is a divine God in some way. His ancestor was one of the old gods of the north that governed ice and snow. Hence, you must be careful around him because he can understand your words perfectly."

Licht patted Chono who was silently listening to their conversation. Chono let a small howl, agreeing with Licht. He proudly raised his chest, gesturing for her to be calm.

" Haha! You have interesting fellows. If I was a little younger, I might actually want to join your journey, but unfortunately, my goal lies in a different place."

Her words made Licht ponder for a moment. He could tell she wasn't lying and her goal seemed to be extremely dangerous.

" I don't know you, but I believe you can succeed, Qattara. My eyes never let me down."

His words made Qattara burst out with laughter. She tapped on his shoulder, showing her gratitude for his compliment that gave her some kind of encouragement. It had been a long time since she received a compliment from others.

" The next checkpoint is near here if we go in that direction. I believe your friends might be there since we didn't find them on our way. If they are with an experienced guide, they would probably wait for us there because it is the best choice in this desert."

Qattara explained, pointing in the direction where Licht was glaring at. He could feel the air was a little off there due to the human settlement, but he couldn't get the bad feeling off his chest. It was like something was waiting for them and he had to hurry there before everything got too late.
