Chapter 14

The weekend passed by faster than expected. On Monday dad and mom took us to the school for an entrance exam. This school is very strict about who will be allowed to study here.Even kindergarten students should be able to write before entering here. A typical school for elite people i say.

Dad took Ronny to the 4th grade test room while mom took me to the kindergarten test room. Can you believe it. I, an adult, have to take a test to get into kindergarten but i can't overdo it so that i will not be labelled as a genius. How tough of a life am i living!!

The test was basically writing numbers and alphabets,Naming plants and animals, less than and greater than and finally colouring the objects on paper with colours mentioned below them. And finally writing my full name and address, my parents phone number. The test was good but I shouldn't stand out here but i have to pass. How exactly do i determine how much i can answer?? In all the pressure of appearing mediocre i just deliberately made 3 mistakes.

1. I named "killer whale" as a fish.

2. I coloured blue instead of purple.

3. Mispelled Rhinosaurs. I'm telling you i Mispelled it deliberately. I definitely know the correct spelling. I'm an adult after all.

If my parents were to see the paper they will definitely doubt my mistake in colouring. I was someone who asked for orchid shade for my room. Damn! i was never this nervous even while giving my tests in university.

Under this nerve wrecking situation the test came to an end after an hour. I went outside the room to find my mother along with dad and Ronny waiting there. Ronny's test started an hour early as they have different subjects to test. By the way his face is beaming, i can say that he did well. I soon joined my parents and we went home as the result will be out on Wednesday on the official website of Crownlake High. Then the registration process starts next week.

My parents will be leaving on Monday after registering us and getting all the school supplies. I'm pretty sure we both will make it but my parents might not be. Ron was a topper in the entrance exam according to the novel after all. That's how he becomes friends with male lead who was a topper in his kindergarten test.

Next day mom took us along with grandma to see various famous sights in the city, while dad and grandpa went to meet my grandpa's brother who stays here too. After roaming around till noon we had our lunch at a restaurant in the city centre then went to my dad and grandpa. This grandpa Christopher is also friendly to us. He is a retired soldier. Grandma Edith passed away after giving birth to my uncle Joey Maybel. As grandpa Chris is a soldier who stays away for work most of the time uncle Joey grew up with my mom. When they were kids the rooms i and Ron are staying in right now belonged to them. After going to college he rarely comes back and all his luggage was shifted here when grandpa retired. Right now uncle Joey is also in military. He is 30 this year and not married yet. Grandpa Chris lives alone as he likes it that way. This was the house grandma Edith stayed in while she was alive. grandpa blames himself for her lonely life hence he stays alone. We stayed till late at night and went back to my grandparents house after promising to visit often. Grandpa Chris gave us huge money cards too. As he was unaware of our sudden visit he couldn't prepare gifts.

Soon Wednesday has arrived, as expected Ron got the highest score for his grade and i got second highest. Sure, i didn't want high score but being beaten by a 5 year old who got full score did a lot of mental damage to me. The private academy we got into Crownlake High is very famous in the country. It provides education from kindergarten to high school. They have a university affiliated to them too but it's seperated from this place. The university is in another city. The academy here is so huge that it took up about 300 acres. I would die to walk from one end to other but thats not necessary. The primary, middle and high schools are separated very well with their own facilities.

So for the next few days we all enjoyed a lot. Our parents though busy always made time for us, but this was the first time we were together for a week all the time. On Monday after registering us and booking our school uniforms and supplies, mom and dad went back at midnight. They are going to get busy from day after tomorrow. so they can rest if they return early. Mom cried buckets while hugging us and dad almost crushed us in his bear hug. A lots of kisses and hugs later they reluctant parted from us.

so a new chapter starts from now in my life.
