Chapter 77: We Need To Talk

Tara’s POV

I found Victor in our bedroom later that evening.

He’d just come out from the shower by the sounds and looks of it, with a stray towel strewn across the bed and a shirt in his hands. I could smell the shampoo and moisturizer he had used on his body wafting from the open bathroom, steam still lingering from the heat of his wash.

“Hey,” he greeted me as he fanned out the shirt, putting his arms through it first before throwing it over his head.

“Hi,” I greeted back, moving further into the room and closing the door behind me. “You done for the day?”

The tension in the room was enough to suffocate in, filtering through the air faster than the steam from his shower. Victor nodded as he looked at me, taking in my appearance and the look in my eyes. I hoped he could tell I wanted to speak to him about something.

I hoped I didn’t need to ask him to help me fix whatever had broken between the two of us in the past few weeks.
