Chapter 107: Old Pack Mentality

Tara’s POV

Victor convened a council later that night. Unlike the ones before where it held just the smaller, inner group of us, for this one, Victor had invited the elder members of the pack—his father’s old council—to sit with us as well.

I could feel the tension in the room as the various men looked around, staring at each other and exchanging their own conspiratory glances. These were the types of men that Briar Bane had surrounded himself with, and eventually, these were the men who had allowed Briar Bane to die.

It was an evil thought to have, but it was an honest one.

I sat beside Victor as he waited for the rest of them to settle down and adjust themselves. It had been a day since we had brought Sidus back. We had showered, eaten and slept– and when we woke, the house was in an uproar. Even from our bedroom we could hear the disgruntled arguments and disagreements of the same councilmen that sat before us now.
