Chapter 128: The Madman And The Burning House

Tara’ POV

I couldn’t find Victor anywhere when I had arrived back at the packhouse.

It had been almost four days since I had left the pack in the first place, and although I was glad to have visited Lycosidae, talking with Jack and Kia made me realize that I was needed here more than I was there. At least for now.

Victor and I were both thrust into this position at the same time, and although he had much more training and preparation than I did, the pack and the three clans still fell to us as our duties. It was a thought I had forgotten, and was in desperate need of reminding over the last few days.

“We’ll always be here,” Jack had told me one day when we were sitting out on the terrace. “Lycosidae has survived, and thrived, for the better part of the last two decades without you. It’s not to say that we don’t need you right now, because we do need our Alpha, but it seems as though First Moon needs your help and protection now more than ever.”
