Chapter 132: A Mother’s Son

Victor’s POV

She was already waiting for us by the time we had arrived.

The trip had taken us well out of pack territory. I wasn’t even sure if where the road had led was considered a part of any of the territory that belonged to the three clans. But here we were and there she was, waiting for us.

“I never much liked witches, to be honest,” Axel mumbled form beside me as the two of us both stared up at the woman. “They always spoke in riddles. Never got to the point.”

“Let's hope this one does,” I stated back.

“It has been some time since I saw a Bane on my doorstep,” the woman spoke. I ignored the look Axel shot to me and walked up to her. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Let’s not pretend like we don’t both know why I’m here.”

She laughed at that, hiding her smile behind her hand as though she were bashful. “My, my,” she cooed. “How direct this generation is… it certainly is a refreshing change of… pace.”
