Chapter 156: The Cracked Moon

Tara’s POV

Her head turned to us, and the shivers shot through my entire body. Her neck didn’t turn, not even her body– just her head. And then her eyes blinked, one at a time, slowly, as she waited for us to follow. We didn’t.

She seemed to regard us with her reptilian eyes, they shot between Jack, Kia and I. And then, she spoke. “You would not have come to me without a reason. Do you dare to leave now without anything after I have seen your faces?”

“Why did you help Sidus?”

“I only helped that boy so far as what was expected of me,” she spoke. “So far as how much he could demand from me.”

I shook my head at her, not understanding at all what it was that she was trying to say. “What do you mean? How could he demand something from you?”

“Because he is from me,” she said. “Because there will always be that connection that is driven between us.”

“He is from you?” Kia asked, stepping forward, her brows pulled together in confusion. “What does that mean?”
