Chapter 159: An Unacknowledged Son

Victor’s POV

There were trees here, upside down, its roots growing upwards toward the moon.

The ground around me wasn’t earth, though, it was just water. I didn’t know how I managed to be able to stand on it without falling, everything beneath me was just water, and there wasn’t a single soul surrounding me. The ocean beneath my feet and the sky above my head blended together in a cacophony of symphonies. There was a tune being played here that I did not recognise.

I began walking forward.

The trees bristled as I walked through their hanging leaves. The branches were malleable to the touches, as though they were true, living things moving and shrinking away from me at the touch. I gripped one of its branches, and it was as though it tried to shake me off. As though I were not meant to touch it.

“They don’t like being touched,” a voice called out. “Least of all by mortal things.”
