Chapter 91: Saving Him

Dr. Miller finally located the bullet that injured Xavier. Hence, he heaved a sigh of relief.

The assistant helping him with the operation wiped the beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

He was in the next step of suturing the wound when Xavier's vital signs dropped.

Xavier was crashing.

"I need a crash cart, now!" Dr. Miller yelled.

The loud sound of beeping alarmed Zarah.

Everything happened so fast. Zarah could hear a sharp ringing sound inside her head.

She could feel her legs softening.

She felt frozen on the spot.

"No!" the voice inside her head was yelling at her.

"I can't lose Xavier, too!" She mumbled with trembling lips.

She had lost Isaiah. She would never allow Xavier to leave her, too.

She was about to approach the table when the nurse pushed her aside.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am. You have to leave," he said with urgency.

Zarah watched as they were giving Xavier chest compressions. Then, Dr. Miller shocked Xavier with the defibrillator.

Zarah pushed the nurse away. He was caught off-guard by Zarah's strength. Hence, he fell on the hard floor.

"Escort her out! She's compromising the operation!" Dr. Miller yelled.

However, he didn't expect that instead of listening to him, Zarah would do something that angered him.

"Move!" Zarah glared at him.

"Are you trying to kill, Master?! There's no way I will let you that!"

One nurse was about to inject a sedative into Zarah. However, she dodged, and the drug pierced Dr. Miller instead.

"You idiot!" Dr. Miller cursed before he collapsed on the floor.

Everyone gasped in shock!

They suddenly felt that Zarah was a threat! They had their guard up. They were willing to beat her should she attack their boss. Regardless, they had to protect Xavier!

However, Zarah ignored them. She replaced Dr. Miller immediately.

Zarah inwardly cursed. She only knew how to do first-aid in human wounds. She had never performed surgeries before on humans!

The last thing she held a scalpel was when she tried to operate on an injured bird.

However, she was unlucky as that bird died. That incident got her traumatized. She thought practicing medicine was not for her.

Had she been well-versed in medicine, like most of the female leads in novels, there was no way for Isaiah's health to deteriorate.

He should still be alive by now.

She knew he had to keep Xavier's heart to be pumping.

She watched medical documentaries out of boredom in the past.

The defibrillator didn't work on Xavier. Therefore, she opted for chest compression.

With her sharp memory, she followed the steps in that documentary.

"Come on!" she groaned in frustration.

"Xavier Lockhart, don't you dare die on me! Should you die, I follow you to the netherworld. Then, I'll strangle you to death again!" Zarah said seriously.

Stimulation! That was right! He needed stimulation.

Zarah stopped the chest compression and started kissing Xavier.

Although Xavier's heart had stopped, Xavier's brain was alive.

Everyone was shocked! They didn't expect she would sexually harass their boss!

"Preposterous!"

"Call for help! Take this mad woman out!" someone yelled.

Zarah recalled how fast her heartbeat was every time Xavier was around.

Just then, the door burst open. Rupert, Elliott, Chris, Vince, and Nancy gasped in shock.

"What are you doing?!" Nancy's cry reverberated inside the room.

She was about to pounce at Zarah, but Vince stopped her.

Zarah ignored the noise around her and continued what she was doing!

Zarah didn't realize the tears were streaming down her cheeks.

"Wake up!" She shifted to chest compressions again.

Finally, after a minute of chest compressions, Zarah heard the beeping sound.

"We have a heartbeat!" the nurse announced in glee.

Perhaps due to frustration, Zarah bit his lips. She didn't stop until she tasted blood.

Nevertheless, she knew he was not out of danger yet. They barely got a heartbeat back. However, it was weak.

She looked around the room, and her gaze landed on Elliott.

She knew Dr. Miller was of no help because he would not be awake any minute by now.

"Does anyone know how to continue the surgery?" she asked the people around.

They looked down in embarrassment. None of them had performed a complicated surgery.

"E! Call someone for me!" she said with urgency.

Zarah mentioned the number she memorized by heart. Elliott dialed the number, and they heard the call connect.

"Greetings, Dr. S! Alpha needs your help," Zarah uttered every word with discipline like she was talking to a military officer.

Her actions baffled everyone.

Suddenly, a female voice came out from the speaker.

"Alpha? I thought you'll never call me." Before their conversation headed in another direction, Zarah decided to interrupt.

"Master now's not the time to catch up. I need your help," she said with urgency.

"Tell me the details," Dr. S's voice turned serious.

"My husband, he got shot on his right side. The doctor managed to remove the bullet. However, he passed out, and now I'm taking over."

"You're married?" Zarah's lips twitched after hearing her.

She had narrated everything. Yet, she only got the first part.

Dr. S was trying to tease her. Despite that, she had a deep trust in her.

"Master!" Zarah whined.

"Can you show it to me?" Dr. S went serious after she caught Zarah's anxiety.

Elliott moved closer, and the call ended.

"What are you all doing? Even if she's Master's wife, we can't just allow her to do what she wants to do!" Nancy shouted. She wanted to convince everyone.

"We can't trust her or that doctor she called now!" she added. However, all she said went on deaf ears.

She was so angry that she failed to recognize the dangerous aura around Zarah.

The aura was terrifying. Hence, they dared not to make a move.

"The call ended," Elliott said.

"Don't worry, she will call you on video," Zarah reassured. Seconds after, the phone lit up, and they were on video call mode.

The other party didn't reveal her face.

"Get the camera closer to the wound."

"Okay!"

Dr. S explained the procedure to her, and she listened.

"You can do it. I'll guide you." Dr. S was confident that she could do it.

Zarah had no room for hesitation now. Xavier needed her!

Without delay, she went out to wash her hands. When she came back, the assistant helped her wear the gloves.

With Dr. S' guidance, she performed the procedure.

After thirty minutes, Zarah managed to complete the operation.

She heaved a sigh of relief after she cut the thread.

She then asked the rest to help Xavier.

"You all can manage now, right?"

"Yes, Ma'am!"

Zarah gave Xavier another kiss before she stepped away.

She went out to wash her hand. The call also ended.

As she removed the surgical gown, hairnet, and mask. Then, she threw them in the bin.

No one dared to follow Zarah.

She heard Dr. Tristan had regained consciousness. So she felt relieved leaving the room.

She had observed that their concern was genuine. So, she felt relieved leaving Xavier in their hands.

Zarah entered the master's bedroom to change clothes.

She had other things to finish tonight.

While she was changing her clothes, the phone in her pocket buzzed.

She grabbed her phone and put the call on speaker.

"Not bad!" Dr. S commended on the other line.

"Thank you, Master."

"You brat! Why don't you accept being my apprentice instead?"

"Stop acting like we have a huge age gap, Master. And besides, your future children deserve to be your apprentice, not me."

"Hmm. I doubt it. You even got married before me."

Zarah subconsciously rolled her eyes after listening to her drama.

"Master, you're only twenty-six this year. Don't lose hope."

"Anyways! I have to go, kiddo. Duty's calling me. Kindly say hi to the other three."

"Okay!"

"Stay out of trouble, kiddo." Dr. S reminded her.

"I will. I've been a good girl, Master."

"Good! If you need anything, please feel free to call." Dr. S said and ended the call.

Zarah finished changing her clothes, and so she left the room.

"Where are you going, Zarah?" Elliott asked and followed her at the same time.

"I'm not supposed to be here, am I right? So, I'm fulfilling his wishes." Zarah calmly said.

"Don't you want to stay by his side and wait for him to regain consciousness?" He probed.

Zarah was upset because of what Xavier had done.

"There's no need for that. And besides, I have more important matters to attend to Zarah answered while walking down the hallway.

"Such as?"

Zarah didn't answer his question but avoided the topic instead.

"Should he remember that he has a worried wife, he knows where to go home."

"Zarah, it's not Chairman Lockhart's intention to hide this from you," Elliott tried to defend him.

"I know. Nevertheless, it's still not a valid reason." Zarah said in frustration.

Zarah entered the garage and picked up one of Xavier's big bikes.

"Don't follow me, E. I need some fresh air," she sternly warned him.

She hopped on the bike and started the engine. *Vroom!*

She went to their old apartment to collect something.

She opened the door and walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of water from the fridge.

She headed upstairs and entered her room.

She went into her closet and opened it. She removed the boxes at the bottom of the closet. Underneath those boxes was a secret compartment.

Zarah pulled the small knob and opened the compartment.

The compartment had different guns, rifles, ammunition, and other weapons. Zarah never thought she would have to use them again after her last mission.

Zarah grabbed the butterfly knife and two pistols loaded with bullets.

She carried extra ammunition should she need it.

She wore a bonnet and a short wig. She even wore a fake mustache and then modified her makeup to look like a senior man.

She went to Isaiah's room and borrowed his old clothes and worn-out shoes to complete her disguise.

She wore a couple of layers to make herself look bulky.

She also grabbed a backpack containing her change of clothes and disguise later.

According to her monitoring, the two gunmen were together.

They were in a hotel room located downtown.

As she suspected, they were foreigners. They were on vacation but received a part-time mission.

They didn't know they were messing on the wrong turf.

She grabbed her backpack and headed downstairs.

Before getting on the motorbike, Zarah called Olivia.

"Liv, I need help," she said without beating around the bush.

Olivia, who was busy on her computer, frowned after feeling the urgency in her voice.

"What's wrong?"

"I'm going to Gil Hotel."

"Gil Hotel? What happened?" Olivia asked loudly. Her voice alarmed her companion inside the room.

Kelsey, who was joining Olivia in the living room, frowned after hearing the concern in Olivia's voice.

She wanted to ask who called, but she decided otherwise.

"Did the Gil family do something stupid again?" Olivia asked.

"No, but one of their guests did."

"I'll explain it to you later. I need you to hack the hotel's security system."

Zarah was bringing guns. Their metal detectors would alarm the moment she walked inside their doors.

She didn't want to alarm the enemies. She was coming to take their lives.

"I got it. Please be careful, Zaza."

Zarah wore her earpiece. Olivia went into action. She hacked into their security system. The windows on her screen showed live CCTV footage, "Tell me when you're closer. I'll deactivate their security system."

She then hopped into Xavier's bike and went to that hotel.

She parked the motorbike in the parking lot. She wore her backpack on and walked to the entrance.

"I'm here," she whispered.

"Where are you?"

"I'm near the entrance. The old man with a backpack."

"Okay."

Suddenly, the power in the lobby went off.

"Ah!" the people inside the lobby screamed in fright.

The next second it lit up again.

"What happened?"

They asked the receptionist.

"We're checking on it."

Zarah was already at the fire exit and heading to the second floor.

"Did you do it?" she asked Olivia.

"No. A rat did it."

"A rat?"

"Yes. I checked the guest list. I found two suspicious names."

"That's them. What room number are they staying in?"

"They booked separate rooms."

"I see. Give me the room numbers."

"Okay. But I think it's a trap. You have to be careful."
