Aurora waited in the dining room impatiently with Hope.
She saw his sons coming out of the kitchen with trays of food in their hands.
She kept craning her neck like a giraffe to see if Zarah had come out already.
Just then, she saw a beautiful young woman following Cole.
"Oh my gosh! Is that Zarah, Hope?" Aurora gasped and then asked in a whisper.
"Yes, Auntie," Hope answered proudly.
Aurora rushed to Zarah. She grabbed the dish in Zarah's hand and placed it on the table.
Then, she excitedly said, "Oh my gosh! I finally met you!"
Aurora wanted to grab Zarah's hand, yet she hesitated. She wanted Zarah to be comfortable with her.
Meanwhile, Zarah was unsure of how to respond to her enthusiasm.
And it showed on her face.
Xavier reached out and grabbed her hand.
"Auntie, this is Zarah, my wife. Zarah, this is my beautiful Auntie. Aunt Aurora."
Xavier finally introduced each other.
"Hello, Mrs. Lockhart," Zarah greeted formally.
"Silly child. Why are you being so formal? Please call me, Aunt or Auntie." Aurora told her with a soft smile.
Zarah was quick to catch up, "Okay, Auntie Aurora." Zarah said, and the soft smile on Aurora's face widened.
"Good!" Aurora said before she pulled Zarah into a tight hug.
"You're so beautiful, Zarah," Aurora complimented Zarah's beauty.
Had Dylan not told her of their backstory, Aurora would say that Xavier had fallen for her beauty.
Well, she was not against that reasoning. Falling for beauty was never criticized, even in the past.
What she cared about was her genuine attitude and feelings toward Xavier. Four years had already passed. A lot of things had happened. There might be a chance that Zarah had changed.
"Thank you, Auntie," Zarah said with a crimson face.
Aurora was pleased to see this side of Zarah. Zarah became easily flustered upon receiving compliments.
Aurora could tell that Zarah was not pretending to be embarrassed in front of her. Hence, she concluded that Zarah had a cute personality.
And she liked it. She loved Zarah already. Zarah had successfully erased the little reservations she had against Zarah.
Xavier was pleased to know that Aurora liked Zarah. He was so proud to watch his wife's interaction with his aunt.
"Hello, sister-in-law," Dylan and Cole greeted her again.
"Hello, Cole and Dylan. Thank you for joining us."
"Of course! I will not miss this for the world! If I'm not mistaken, this is your first time visiting Sterlington City." Dylan told her.
"Yes. It's indeed my first time here in Sterlington City," Zarah honestly said.
"I hope you don't find our culture a little offensive," Cole apologized.
"Well, it's fine. Though, it took me by surprise, honestly."
"Why don't we settle down and eat first?" Xavier offered before the food turned cold.
"Okay."
Everyone, including Hope, gathered around the dining table.
The rest of Xavier's men had brought the food to the table.
Zarah and Xavier had cooked enough food to accommodate everyone, even Xavier's men.
Xavier took the main seat. Zarah was sitting on his right side. Next to Zarah was Hope. Aurora wanted to sit next to Zarah, but Cole grabbed his mother to sit on the opposite side with Dylan.
Of course, Cole sat beside Hope. Aurora sat opposite Zarah, while Dylan sat opposite Hope.
Xavier did not forget to cater to his wife first before himself. He placed food on her plate.
However, this time, he was not alone. Aurora was doing the same thing despite sitting opposite Zarah.
She stood up and started placing food on Zarah's plate.
Zarah felt a little overwhelmed. However, instead of complaining, she smiled at both of them.
Hope was pleased as her sister had easily gotten Aurora's approval.
Her sister would not be alone should she come to the Lockhart mansion.
"Mom. That's enough. Or my sister-in-law would have indigestion," Dylan told his mother.
"Shut up! Why don't you introduce a daughter-in-law to me so I can do this to her?" Aurora told her son.
Dylan became silent. He got so busy with the company lately. Hence, he had no time to pursue the woman he liked.
Yes, of all the one-night-stand he had with, he could not forget this woman. She kept haunting his mind.
No, the woman he wanted to pursue was not one of the Irving twins.
He wanted to refute his mother. Yet, he knew that Aurora would not accept his reason. They were mere excuses.
Meanwhile, Aurora felt guilty when she saw the pile of dishes on Zarah's plate.
"I'm sorry, Zarah. I got excited and wasn't able to control myself."
"It's fine, Auntie. Xavier can help me finish if I can't eat them all."
Like on cue, she started feeding Xavier with the food on her plate.
Xavier did not show any resistance. He willingly agreed to open his mouth.
Wait, why would he resist it when this was what he loved?
Being shown by their public display of affection, Dylan rolled his eyes.
Meanwhile, Aurora was pleased to know that their relationship was going smoothly.
"So, Zarah. Did our Xavier give you a hard time?" she asked to make sure.
Aurora was aware of Xavier's personality. He could be a tough one sometimes.
"No, Auntie. Xavier has always been supportive of me. He never gives me a headache."
"That's good. Then, can we expect a bun in the oven soon?" Aurora casually asked. However, it caused a great reaction from the couple.
"Pft!" Zarah spurted her drink while Xavier choked on his food.
Hope immediately reached out for a napkin and helped Zarah wipe her mouth.
Meanwhile, Zarah gave Xavier a glass of water, and he chugged it in one go.
Zarah was coughing hard. The liquid got stuck in her airways.
Hope and Xavier helped Zarah to calm down.
"Mom, be careful with your question. Or else Xavier and Zarah might die of a heart attack before they could give you a grand nephew or niece." Cole reminded his mother.
Cole then glanced at Hope and started putting food on her plate.
Aurora felt guilty. Hence she pouted and apologized, "I'm sorry, Xavier and Zarah."
"It's fine, Auntie. We appreciate your enthusiasm." Xavier said while giving Zarah a glass of water.
"Are you okay, Zarah?" Aurora felt bad.
Well, she did not expect that they would react that way.
Zarah made an okay hand-sign to Aurora since she could not talk yet. She was still coughing.
It took Zarah a little while to stop coughing.
"Shall we continue this conversation later? Aunt, I'll give you the time to know my Zarah. I promise."
Aurora agreed, and their lunch continued.
After lunch, everyone headed to the living room upstairs.
The living room upstairs was right next to the entertainment room.
There was a pool table in the entertainment room. A minibar, with a fish tank as the countertop, was on the right, close to the balcony.
The room also had a foosball. A dart board was attached to the wall.
It also had a big OLED TV screen mounted on the wall. The TV was playing a basketball match at the moment.
The boys went to the pool table while Hope, Aurora, and Zarah stayed in the living room.
"I'm sorry about what happened earlier, Zarah," Aurora apologized one more time.
"It's fine, Auntie. I understand your feeling," Zarah sincerely said.
Xavier came from a prominent family, after all. And having an heir was one of the reasons why marriage happened in their family.
"However, both Xavier and I have agreed to postpone it. We're still young. And we wanted to spend this moment for ourselves first."
However, she was unsure if there was no bun in the oven since they had not used protection.
They had not also consulted with a specialist yet. It was Xavier's own accord to use c*ndoms during s*x.
Aurora was a little disappointed. However, she understood them. These two were separated for four years and had met recently.
Even though they were married, it did not mean they were ready to have a child.
Some married couples would wait for years before they would start trying for a baby.
Aurora could only Hope for some accidents to happen for her wish to come true.
Aurora wanted to have another child after Cole. Yet, after having Cole, she suffered from a miscarriage.
They kept trying to get pregnant and even went to an IVF clinic. However, it did not help them to conceive again.
Joseph did not agree with surrogacy or adoption. Therefore, she had no other choice but to accept her fate.
So, Aurora got excited when Xavier got married.
She was hoping that they would have a baby soon. And she would volunteer to be the nanny.
"Okay. It's understandable. Take your time in planning for your family. Raising a child is expensive these days. I mean, I know you're not short of cash. However, it will take a lot of time to raise one," Aurora told them.
"Yeah. That's what we think, too. However, I know that Xavier is considering my feelings toward motherhood. I do not know if I can be a good mother." Zarah expressed her hesitation.
"It's expected for young wives to be afraid. Motherhood is a different journey. It's hard, yet fulfilling."
