Chapter 6 In her dream

In that dream, there was a heavy downpour of rain and Mira was seated on a bench in the lonesome place, her body was wet with the dripping of the rain on her skin and as the rain ran down her body, so were the tears in her eyes. There was nothing but a tree in that environment and the ground with which her feet stepped on was green grass which was constantly enveloped with fog.

There was no one with her in that place, no one but her and her painful self. But then, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. She lifted up her face to see but was unable to get a glance of anything because of the thick fog which had covered the entire terrace. The footsteps finally came to a halt and she could feel the presence of someone standing very close to her. She turned her face from the side to the front and gently lifted her face up to look at the person that was standing before her. The fog gave way and she was able to see the face of the man that was standing before her.

His face was oval and his eyes were gray in color. His presence was dominating and his gaze exuded might, an unexplainable emotion attached to it but she felt as though she was lost by just staring at him. But there was something odd about this man -- he didn't feel like the normal way people felt but instead his aura was dark and somehow it was calming.

Then he let out his hand to her...

She was forced to take her gaze away from him to look at the masculine palms that were opened to her to take. She didn't know this man but somehow she wanted to be with him. He was strange, the ambience surrounding him was strange, he felt strange but still she wanted to take those hands and like someone that had been hypnotized by an external force, she placed her hand on his without thinking twice and he helped her to her feet.

He was a feet taller than her and their faces were only a few inches away. Her eyes stared into his, trying to penetrate into his soul but it seemed impossible as this strange man was somewhat impenetrable. His gaze never left her all the while that he was there standing with her but he said nothing.

The rain soon stopped but the tears in her eyes remained and then slowly, he began to lean towards her, inclining his face towards and surprisingly she felt calm and relaxed and didn't try to flinch. At that point, her mind was blank to think of anything or forge questions. She just stood there waiting for whatever it was he wanted to do to her.

As soon as his face became closer to hers, he kissed her tears away. A soft gasp escaped her mouth when he did that and as he retreated, he gave her a warm smile. It was at that moment that the fog that initially surrounded them faded away and her surroundings became more clear to her. She suddenly became dry from her wetness and for the first time, she could actually see his face clearly.

If there was any word that she could use to replace the word "beautiful" she would have used it outrightly. This man was an embodiment of beauty. His face shone like a bright light and his smile... His smile was heavenly. Though she possessed black hair, she had never seen a black hair that looked more black than the black she knew. This man was a god in human form and in all her life as a Princess she had never met a man that looked as good as him. How could a man look so good but still feel so dark? She had to ignore the dark aspect in order to focus on the divine creature that was standing before her. He was fair just like her and by mere standing with him, she felt as though she had known him for a long time.

Now there were so many questions that flooded her mind and she didn't know which one to ask first and when she finally got a question she wanted to ask, he started to slip away. It was as if he already read her mind, he didn't even give her the opportunity to ask who he was and he started to fade away.

"Wait!" She finally said but it was too late as the man had now completely disappeared, leaving her standing all alone again in that deserted place.

...

Mira woke up with a jolt and realized that it was a dream. Her forehead had already formed beads of sweat and she panted as if she had just finished running a race. She wiped off the sweat on her forehead with the back of her palms and then turned towards her side to see that she was lying on the floor. She couldn't believe that she slept on the floor and so she stood to her feet and went to her bedside to check the time on her alarm clock. Her eyes bulged out in surprise when she saw that the time had already hit 5am in the morning. She was in utter disbelief that she slept for that long. She remembered trying to take a stroll at 5pm before entering her room which could only mean that she had slept for a whooping 12 hours.

It was strange to her in a way because the dream she had didn't seem to take more than an hour so how come she slept for 12 hours? Did it mean that the occurrences in the dream lasted for that long too? Now speaking about the dream, she still hadn't taken it all in -- the things she experienced, the man she saw. Yes that man... Who was he? She was certain that she hadn't met him before, nor had she seen him anywhere. Could it be that her emotions were taking a toll on her? Who knows? Maybe her strange dream man didn't exist anywhere but she wanted to believe that he did and she was going to see him one day.

A few hours later into the day...

King Desmond received a letter and from his countenance, one could tell that the contents of the letter was unsettling. He clutched tightly onto the handle of his throne and Queen Margaret who was sitting beside him felt a need to inquire of him what the problem was but held her peace instead since they were both in the presence of the elders.

One of the elders saw that the countenance on the king's face was not a good one and therefore, he inquired of him.

"Your Majesty, your face has suddenly turned sour. Is everything all right?" He asked.

Revealing the contents of the letter was the least thing on the King's mind as he didn't want them to be bothered and cause a ruckus. It was a matter that related to the good of the kingdom as a whole and as a matter of fact, it had a lot to do with the marriage of the Princess to King Alvarez. He already assumed what their response would be and so he decided to be calm about it.

"It is nothing to worry about. Do not bother." King Desmond responded, though his wife was not convinced but still, she said nothing.

Later on after the meeting had come to an end and the cabinet members were dismissed, Margaret wasted no time in trying to find out what the matter was.

"Now that the elders are gone, can you tell me what the contents of the letter is?" She asked inquisitively but still, King Desmond said nothing. She was impatient to wait for a reply and so she collected the letter from his hand and went through it.

Then he finally spoke saying; "Now I have no choice but to do the needful. I have no choice" His tone came out weak and then he turned towards her and said again, "She will be getting married tomorrow."
