Chapter 3: School Start

It took him quite a while, but Sean eventually found his way and arrived at the Academy gates. To say it was an Academy, it was heavily guarded. Ten foot tall concrete walls towered around the vicinity, moss and ivy crawling across the stone surface.

A huge steel gate covered the entrance, a big black gazebo atop it. Taking shelter underneath was a man and a woman, both wearing the same uniform as Richard was. Sean cautiously approached the two of them, squinting just to see them properly.

"Can we help you?"

The woman spoke with quite the harsh tone, though Sean didn't think much of this.

"Mordac sent me"

The woman sighed whilst the man still stood in silence.

"So he's back to his old antics, huh?"

Sean was confused by her annoyance towards Richard, though he could already partly understand it. She swiped a small ID card on the metal box beside the gate and the metal door slowly began to open. It began to sink into the floor and a loud boom echoed once it had fully fallen in.

The man made a gesture with his head, signaling Sean to enter the Academy grounds. Sean entered, wanting to get away from the woman as soon as possible. Looking around him, he could just make out the multiple buildings around him, illuminated by lanterns and lamps.

He rubbed his tired eyes and kept on walking forward, unaware as to where he should go. He approached a big central building that had four floors of which voices could be heard from. He hesitantly reached for the handle to the buildings door before is swung open and hit hum straight in the nose.

"Why hello! I was just on my way to find you!"

Sean was gifted by an unpleasant meeting from Richard. Blood slowly trickled from Sean's right nostril and dripped on the floor.

"How'd you do that?"

Richard seemed as though he didn't know that he was the cause for Sean's accident.

"Don't worry about it"

Richard smiled to Sean,

"Well I guess you're right. For a Z, that'd heal straight up!"

An irritated look was plastered on to Sean's face though he did manage to calm himself down.

"Well then, lets get straight to meeting your classmates!"

"S-s-sorry?"

Richard grabbed him by the arm and tugged, though he didn't move an inch. He tried picking Sean up, but he failed.

He even resulted to pushing, surprise surprise!..it didn't work. Richard was now gasping for air having used all his energy on Sean.

"Please, just go inside!"

Richard sounded like he was dying (no pun intended). Sean stared at the man with pity and strolled on to the inside of the building, Richard slowly pacing his was behind him.

Richard had told Sean that their classroom was on the second floor, the door labelled B4. Whilst on his way to the room with Richard, he received many cold stares and many people where whispering amongst themselves.

Sean payed this no mind as people nether bothered him, he grew up excluded so this was just normality to him. Within a matter of minutes, the two of them found their way to the classroom door labeled B4.

Chattering and laughter cold be heard from within the room and the occasional shriek of glee ringed throughout the corridor.

"I'll enter first, then I'll shot you when everyone's ready."

Sean had a panicked look on his face, his first time in a school, he hated it already. He stood there anxiously waiting whist tapping his foot and cracking his fingers. A minute or two had passed by now, Sean's anxiety was growing more and more by the second.

Finally, the voices inside the room came to a halt and Richard beckoned in an anxious Sean.

"You can come in now!"

Sean took a deep breath and slowly reached for the door nob. The voices from before returned as whispers, muttering about who it could be that was about to enter.

"Well?"

Richard's voice called out once more as a sign for Sean to enter. He opened the door and the hinges let out a small squeak. He walked into the room and stood beside Richard.

"This is...."

Richard whispered into Sean's ear.

"What IS your name?"

Sean only just realised that he never actually properly introduced himself to Richard.

"Sean Walker"

Richard cleared his throat and spoke once more.

"This is Sean Walker, your new classmate as of today, I hope you can all give him a warm welcome."

From the many desks in the room, A blonde girl with small frame glasses raised her hand to speak, Richard nodded to her to talk.

"Why is he starting this late into the year, shouldn't he wait till the next semester?"

Sean could tell at first glance that she was the teachers pet type, the type that would stick to the rules and force it upon others.

"He's a special case, I myself have personally recommended him to the school and to start here immediately."

Richards reply seemed to upset the girl for some reason and she lowered her hand and switched her gaze out the window. Richard pointed with his boney hand to the seat beside the girl.

"Take a seat beside Alice would you, Sean?"

Sean sent Richard an irritated glare before making his way over to the small desk beside the girl. He took off his backpack and swung it under the desk before sitting.

"Nice to be sitti-"

Before Sean could finish his friendly greeting, the girl swung her hand in front of Sean's face to make him stop talking.

"Well I wish someone told me you'd be a bitch about stuff"

He looked in the direction of Richard, waiting for him to begin speaking again whilst Alice's annoyed look grew.

"Well now we have a full class, I guess we can get on to the weapon choosing!"

Richards words caused all of the class to start talking with excitement before being shushed to be silent once more.

"Remember, this decision is crucial as to your time in this academy, so make it count"

He made his way over to the still open door.

"Well, shall we be going then?"
