Finishing off Mo Zhen

After making sure he was deep enough into the forest, he hurriedly took out his rock and killed Mo Zhen, rapidly smashing the stone on his face over and over until he was no longer recognizable.

He felt relieved after doing this; his life was no longer on the line, at least not for now; he felt as if a huge weight had been taken off his shoulder; however, he also felt immense guilt for killing someone, especially someone who viewed him as a friend.

He knew he couldn't stay here for too long, and just as he was about to leave, he suddenly saw two transparent figures floating above the dead body.

'System, what is this?'.

[It's their soul's host].

'Can everybody see other people's souls after they die?'.

[No, the host is an exception since he has a half devil's bloodline, it is recommended that the host takes both souls with him before they disperse].

'How can I even take them away? Aren't they just ethereal?'.

[Host can put them inside the system inventory for now].

Having put both of the souls inside the system inventory, he quickly ran back; it took him around five minutes to finally see the end of the forest, and he hurriedly made his way back home; however, he made sure to not be seen by anyone, as for Mo Zhen's body? It would most likely be eaten by beasts that were attracted to the smell of blood.

Arriving back at his house, he quickly went to the shower and got rid of anything that could've incriminated him; he also put his blood-stained clothes in his system inventory so nobody could find them.

Getting out of the shower, Gu Lingxin walked to his bed and just laid down; he felt incredibly guilty, relieved, and sad at the same time; he knew that killing people wasn't something that he could avoid doing, he kept using that to reassure himself that he did the right thing, unbeknownst to him his devil's bloodline was making it extremely easy for him to overcome any bad feelings he had towards killing.

Having laid there, he decided to look at the system and see the rewards he got for killing Ye Chen.

'System, show me the rewards for killing Ye Chen.'

[Rewards for killing the son of luck 'Ye Chen':

2500 luck

5000 luck points

---

Choose one of three:

Ye Chen's Alchemy abilities(Yin Yang Realm)

Ye Chen's Array formation abilities(Emperyan Realm)

Ye Chen's battle experience(2000 years worth of battle experience)].

'Which realm is the higher between Yin-Yang and Emperyan?'.

[Yin Yang Realm is higher].

He was considering which secondary profession he should take; as for the battle experience, he honestly didn't really think about it; if he met someone like a son of luck, then battle experience won't do much when faced with overwhelming luck compared to the connections and abilities he gains by being proficient in a secondary profession.

Plus, he can eventually gain much more battle experience in the future. However, even though the same could be said with alchemy; the time it takes to master alchemy compared to battle experience is much less; after all, he knew he'd fight a lot in the future, so the battle experience would be something that he picks up on the way.

'Pick alchemy as a reward.'

[Host has picked Alchemy(Yin Yang Realm)].

[Intergrating memories related to alchemy].

Suddenly Gu Lingxin felt as if his brain froze for a second; he was overwhelmed with the amount of information pouring into his mind.

He stood motionless while memories poured in as if a damn had broken, time passed by, and he seemed to have been sitting down for thousands of years with all the techniques and experiences related to alchemy that had been forcefully implanted in his brain.

Time passed slowly, and soon five days had passed since he had started absorbing the information; although only five days had passed in reality, for him, it seemed to be an eternity.

Coming out of his stupor, he looked around and realized that the immortal which was recruiting would most likely be here soon, so he had to be prepared; even if he only got a trash position in the sect, he believed that as long as he could join, then he'd catapult upwards.

Although he had the system, he knew he needed to join a sect; for one, he needed cultivation resources and techniques, and if he joined a sect, he could potentially meet more children of luck.

He also wondered why the system told him to keep the souls; he assumed it was related to his bloodline.

'System, why did you recommend for me to keep the souls?'.

[Because souls have many uses, they can be used to forge weapons, pills, and arrays, if any of these are made with the addition of a soul, then they can either give sentience or boost their grade overall, however since you are a half-devil there is another option, you can either consume souls to become stronger or you can turn them into ghost puppets when your bloodline becomes a true low-level devil bloodline; however you can't turn people that are stronger than you into puppets, at least not with your level of bloodline].

With this, everything made more sense to him; it didn't seem too bad to be able to get stronger by killing others. However, he didn't feel like he was entirely ready to slaughter others for no reason; he decided that he'd kill all those who wanted to harm him.

Having cleared his doubts, he came out of his house; after having walked a few steps, he realized that he was starving; although he was a cultivator, the most a body-forging cultivator could go for without eating would be a week, and he'd had not eaten for five days, so he was starving however not to the point of it being overwhelming.

Making his way towards the local bakery, he met an acquaintance who'd treated him rather well; in fact, his living conditions would be much worse without her help, and although he wasn't her son, she had always treated him as if he was.

"Hi, Aunt Lin Shui!" he said as he saw the middle-aged lady who was currently serving the customers.

Because the village wasn't that big, the orphanage could not keep the kids in it for a while; they'd build them a house with basic necessities and send them a monthly wage, and when they became adults, they'd leave the house, and the next orphan would take it; usually, this would happen when they became ten however Gu Lingxin decided to move out earlier, he wanted his own privacy, and he was much smarter than regular kids his age, and he was afraid of being mistaken as some sort of demon and killed.

The woman whom he calls aunt is someone who looked after him a lot; she had helped him buy lots of daily necessities and sometimes even gave him free breakfast; he honestly didn't doubt that if she had the money and time to do so, she might have already adopted him and because of this he honestly thought of her as his own mother at least in this world.
