Chapter Nine
"Do you know the reason why the alpha calls for me?" Nalani asked delaying her time as much as possible, she took ow calculated steps the girl I'm front of her had still not uttered a single. Word or sentence she gave the aura of indifference and confidence. Normally She would not follow a strange girl down the pack's cells but when had she ever been normal she thought to herself walking faster to catch up to the girl
"you do not seem like the type to kill" came the girl's voice beside her
" that is because I am not a killer I had already told the alpha I thought I had found something my curiosity was peeled and I decided to investigate I had no idea it would be a body I am a but a simple healer I do not bother for the scuffles of pack life or drama." Nalani spoke
" well I can certainly see what he see in you another pack member would have cowered in fear just by the mention of the aloha but you on the other hand, so passively dismiss him without a second look" came the girl again
"I stand by my words I am innocent and you and the alpha cannot prove otherwise " Nalani
"the alpha does not need a reason to kill you Nalani don't you think otherwise the main question should be why has he not after all he has killed many great and efficient members of the pack for smaller reasons, whatever it is your doing call it luck or charm you better keep using it, you're not going to be alive much longer anyway" the girl spoke again
"yes thank you for the heartfelt goodbye I am sure this will be the last time we meet after all my doom is right behind the door in the form of our dear alpha. surely you must wish me well after all you did bring me to my demise " Nalani spoke up
"you are too witty to be a healer, the better question would be what are you dear healer " the girl spoke as she stooped at the doors of the alphas office and turned left heading out of Nalani's sight
Nalani stared at the gate and the doorway leading out of the pack house it would be so easy to walk out of the pack buildings wasn't easily noticed anyways like the wind she would waltz out of the building back to her quiet little cottage cozy and warm full of herbs and spices just the way she liked it sighing deeply she turned to the sound of the door being open
"you were supposed to knock and then come in not slobber down at the stairway leading out if the pack house comes inside Nalani we have much to discuss.
"yes alpha" Nalani replied following the alpha into his with hesitation and fear
"sit down healer" Oliver spoke he had smelt her even before seeing her his wolf Ryder would not stop putting images into his head of the beautiful woman with amethyst eyes being an alpha male his testosterone where already through the through with this female who did not understand the things, she was doing to him her mere aura made his wolf feel weak her energy was nothing like anything he had perceived this pulled at his masculinity restraint even more. Taking a sit at his office chair he smiled at the irony of it all he was at a higher chair than her just like the hierarchy of pack position but yet she controlled him and she did not know that yet starting intensely at her he knew this woman would be the death of him
"alpha???" Nalani asked confused she had been sitting on the chair for a good ten minutes and yet the alpha had not said a single word instead he stated at her like some deer meat caught during the pack hunt she looked away nonchalant and holding her tongue gotten her this far already she was not going to jinx it over something so mild
"I shall give you one more chance to speak the truth after which you are to pick any of the two options I shall offer you now for the last time Nalani what were you doing in the woods and go is it that you were found over a corpse," Oliver asked
" I was gathering herbs alpha some special leaves where needed and they only grow deep in the wood I had ventured deeper in hopes of finding the leaves to make a special cure when I had come across the piece of cloth sticking out my curiosity was peaked. deciding to dig further it was at that point one of the pack warriors found me. I mean no harm to the pack alpha please do not kill me" Nalani spoke
"you still dare lie to my face" Oliver growled as he lunged for his wolf form shining through grasping her by her throat he strangled her he watched her struggle for air yet she looked him in his eyes this little girl has no fear many would cower at his wolf but she looks his beast in his eyes as though he is but a pup she was beginning to get pale but she held her ground she was as stubborn as a mule her face had become white her expression weak Oliver knew he could not find her down much longer. So be let her go she coughed and spluttered trying to catch her breath as he looked on unfazed......
"you have underestimated me Nalani and now you shall live with your consequences from here on out, you shall reside in the pack house with me your alpha, and the rest of the upper wolves of the hierarchy until you are proven innocent you are under my watch twenty-four seven nothing you do will escape me Merida will be your watch shadow as your pack leader I do not trust you and you shall pay for yours. Crimes for which your death will be painful and long you are dismissed get your things from the cottage and into your new room before dusk " Oliver spoke in his alpha voice
Nalani stared at the wolf who claimed leader of her pack he was the ruler alright and not the leader he had her here now and trapped he never once planned to let her go no matter what she said to him she would just have to find another way to prove herself innocent until then she has trapped oh her lovely little cottage and the solitude it provided. The packed house was the worst place for a healer to be there was no solitude a thing every healer needed her potions would become impotent she could also be discovered a thing she feared the most if someone was to find out about her powers they would take advantage or better still see her as a curse or disadvantage and kill her. Nalani wanted to help creatures either dead or alive something which had pitted her in this damned situation and the betrayal ghost had disappeared ever since that was the thing with ghosts they did not know the importance of the living using themselves as vessels for help now she was trapped. The alpha looked scary and intimidating yet radiated a spirit of calmness could such a man be kind or calm surely he must be a monster not to have even one loyal female companion looking above to his eye she could read it carefully he was lost but hid it with the tough guy act. Grabbing her wits she stood up to her feet without a second look at the alpha she slammed the doors shut carrying her scent and aura with her.
"what have I done," Oliver paced around his office his wolf Ryder spoke" you have been too harsh on mate and now she leaves" replied Ryder …" we are the same you silly wolf she hides something still and we must uncover what it is her being closer to our proximity means we would be able to spot out the problem efficiently" replied Oliver he sighed taking out the packs buffer he got to work on filing them in a job that would take most of the day but someone had to get it done unless it would pile up and cause money differences being alpha was more than just the title. Responsibilities and pack work are something, not every pack member would be able to understand and cope with sighing he picked up another account sheet.
*************
Nalani glared at the pack building having just come out of its abode she already loathed the place how could she trade her wonderful cottage for this all because of that little ghost and a very steeled heart alpha she could not read him a fact which made her uneasy. His alpha command did not work on her either she thought this would have to be another pile in her safe of secrets no one could find out of her secrets walking further into the forest she halted suddenly
