Captain Maximus Livan

'That was quick'

Was the first thing I thought upon seeing the system announcement. Even though the odds of any one player finding and receiving a legendary class was roughly 1%, I still expected someone to find one within the first week.

In a game played by roughly 3 billion people as of now, it only made sense for one incredibly lucky random player to be that 1% and obtain a class that billions of people would die to have.

Thinking about all this, I decided to open the world chat and observe people's reactions and once I did, I couldn't read one message for more than 2 seconds due to the heavy spamming the chat was currently experiencing.

The only messages I could roughly make out were along the lines of 'Damn he's lucky' or 'Add me as a friend' or people speculating who the lucky player could be.

Seeing this, I decided to contact Apollo and Krystal to find out their thoughts about the matter and discuss on whether we should actively search for the player so we can rope hin into [♱Trinity].

I was about to create a group chat with the three of us when I realized that Krystal beat me to it.

I smiled seeing that. She was most likely having the same thoughts as me.

[Krystal: You guys see the announcement? What do you think?]

[Apollo: Yeah I saw it. It said the player was in the Northern Continent, which is where we are so he/she is within our immediate reach. I think we should assemble the guild earlier than intended and instruct everyone to actively search for the player so we can rope them in. If we are to stand a chance against the big 3 as well as the other top guilds, we need to get every advantage we can and right now, this player is the greatest advantage.]

[Perseus: I agree with Apollo, it's obvious the player is not from a major guild because if they were, they would have displayed their gamer tag on the announcement and take advantage of the buzz surrounding it in any way they can. What if the player isn't that good though? This is Transcendent, so we can't simply assume that they'll be a top player just cause they have a legendary class.]

[Krystal: You have a point, Perseus. They may not be as good as we think. Though, I still think its worth tracking them down, this is a legendary class we're talking about here. Regardless of whether the player is good or not we would undoubtedly hold a significant advantage at this stage of the game if we got them. Plus, we can always train the player and make him a monstrous player, he/she may even have the talent to become a star player.]

[Apollo: True. Also, what if this game doesn't allow the players to broadcast their names when they receive classes above legendary rank?]

[Perseus: That's actually possible, I didn't think about that. I guess we can only know once we find out who the player is.]

[Krystal: Yeah…so we're assembling the guild earlier?]

[Apollo: Yes]

[Perseus: Yep]

[Krystal: Alright, I'll create a channel for the guild in Transcendent and inform all our members.]

I nodded my head in approval and closed the chat interface.

"Legendary Class? What's that?" Ellie suddenly asked, confused about the system announcement.

I raised my eyebrows in shock, she could actually see it? I thought the developers said that only players could see world-wide system announcements and that NPC's were notified through a voice transmission by the Church of Light's Pope.

"You can see it?" I asked, not hiding my bewilderment.

"Yeah I can. Is that bad?" She replied, looking a bit worried.

I frowned and looked at the other NPCs in the convoy. They weren't looking at the sky and kept moving, seemingly oblivious to the large blue string of texts still on display overhead.

"No it's not bad, it's just unusual." I replied, looking at Ellie intently. She was clearly an NPC so how on earth could she see the system announcement? She was completely abnormal.

"Ah, I see. So what's a legendary class?" She asked, looking at me curiously with sparkling eyes.

I just smiled seeing that, deciding to investigate more about Ellie's mysteries later.

"It's like an Inheritance left by a powerful figure." I replied, looking back at her.

"That's pretty interesting." She furrowed her eyebrows and responded, seemingly enlightened.

She then looked at me once more and asked with effervescent eyes,

"Do you think we can find one of these inheritances on our adventures?"

I smiled seeing her vivacious spirit.

"Well…If we're lucky enough I suppose so."

Ellie just nodded her head at that. As she did, I remembered that I forgot to ask her who Emperor Artorius was; thus, I asked inquisitively,

"By the way, who is Emperor Artorius?"

Ellie looked at me with surprise

"You don't know?" She asked, in disbelief.

"Nope…"

"That's rather unusual. Well, he was a legendary and valorous warrior and monarch. He established the Sol Empire and saved the northern continent from invasion from the demons. His reign was arguably the peak of the Sol Empire. He was also recognized as a saint by the church of light so nearly everyone has heard about him either through childhood stories or through the church."

I was somewhat surprised to hear that. This Emperor Artorius seemed like one of those mighty figures that defined an Era. I mused that there was probably some class related to him; one of at least the legendary rank.

"I see…by the way, what empire are we in?" I asked, intending to understand some of the geopolitics of the northern continent. The information would be useful in determining where [♱Trinity] could be based.

"We aren't in an empire. We are currently at the outskirts of the Kingdom of Crusea." She replied casually.

I continued to ask about the political powers of the Northern Continent. Apparently, there were 4 empires and 5 kingdoms on the northern continent, the strongest of which being the Sol Empire.

We continued to talk and get to know each other as we rode through Nightbloom Forest en route to Blue Sky city. We were yet to encounter any enemies or monsters, which was somewhat surprising. I mused that we were probably going to encounter them on the last stretch to the city.

"Yeah, they ar-" I halted my conversation with Ellie abruptly because I started hearing the faint sound of hooves and rustling of trees not far from our position.

"Get ready Ellie." I muttered as I grabbed the hilt of my trusty steel sword firmly.

Ellie had noticed the faint sounds as well and merely nodded at my instruction.

The noises became more vivid, which caused Igor to halt the convoy's advance and a few moments later, the trees parted to reveal a figure clad in silver armor on a black horse. Behind him, was a squad of 25 figures, with some on horseback, and most on foot.

The silver armored figure left the group and approached us. I inspected him as he got closer.

'This guy is probably the greatest threat.' I thought as I looked at him. He was 6 levels ahead of me and had a better class so fighting him would surely be arduous.

Captain Maximus gazed lazily at the convoy before clearing his throat and speaking authoritatively,

"I'll just make this simple…. Surrender yourselves or die…."
