The Mistakes Of The Past

Bernard Hawthorne frowned. He doesn't appreciate the young man's tone but he knew that he deserved it. But he caught Daxon's last words, so he asked, "What do you mean?"

"The Clives are bad people," Daxon said straightforwardly without much care that he was divulging too much information to a man he was not certain he could trust with the information. But the lack of surprise on the old man's face made Daxon lean back and narrow his eyes at him.

Bernard Hawthorne stared at Daxon as if trying to read what the young man was thinking. It was not safe for him to assume what the young man in front of him was insinuating but his instinct tells him that they were thinking the same. "You knew about their slaves," He said without much emotion in his words. It was as if he was just stating that the weather is cold.

Daxon's gaze became scrutinizing. "You knew?"

"Yes," Bernard Hawthorne nodded his head without hesitation as if he knew he could trust Daxon Kho.
