Proud Wife and Daughter

The lunch with the Parkers went well. It was better than Elizabeth had hoped for. Not only did her father reconcile with his past adversary, but her mother also gained friends. They ate and chatted amiably. The past was never mentioned. The majority of the topics they talked about were the cafe, books, and friends which Nic's mother has a lot and her mother was lacking. But her mother doesn't seem miserable about what she lacks, in fact, she seems excited and looking forward to making friends.

Most of the time, it was Alice Ogden and J Parker who conversed. Elizabeth would join them once in a while.

Fortunately, the issue of Elizabeth's safety was not mentioned. Mentioning it would ruin the atmosphere. But Elizabeth was certain that one of these days, it would become the topic of the conversation. If only she could reassure Nic and her parents.
