It didn't take long for the announcement to be made. But the evening on the street was still not over. Those who didn´t win tried to drive away the feeling of defeat with some good food or drinks and the presence of their friends. Spectators as well. Even though they weren't the one who was defeated. There was still loud music playing and the street had partly turned into a dance floor. Perhaps the best thing was that people from all parts of this society gathered at these evenings. No one cared if he had more money than someone else or not.
However, our large group didn´t want to stay. Mali did protest for a while, trying to find Jasper in what she even succeeded in the end, but he pushed her away saying that he didn't have time now and gave her a contact on himself. So then she finally agreed to come with us. However, I doubted that Jasper wasn't lying and we would be able to find him again, since he had been away for so long.
However, today we weren't heading to some extra luxurious and expensive bar. We went for a drink for today's race a little lower. Moreover, it was even better, because not only my outfit wasn´t worthy of some millionaire's place. But I would bet it had to be worse for the three snobs.
We made our way to the train stop through the dark alleys and thus got closer to our destination. We got off the almost empty night train and headed a bit higher. However, due to the distance from the center the bar did not look as rich as in the central part of this layer. Even so, it was better than most bars at the layer I´ve lived in.
Everyone was kind of talking in small groups while I was walking in a silence in front of them. Jasper was a bit on my mind, but I wasn't going to discuss it with anyone. I preferred to look out for the glowing sign and the familiar building that was supposed to appear in front of us at any moment now.
I stopped in front of the iron door with neon light around and looked behind me to see if they had followed me at all, because all I heard was silence. But all I could see was how Mali was walking towards me from behind with an enthusiastic expression on her face: "Wow, I haven't been here in a while."
I furrowed my brows at her announcement. It didn't occur to me until so long ago, when we were here together, and I expected that she came here with other friends as well. But maybe it wasn't like that. I ignored her and opened the front door.
After a few minutes we were already sitting in the big pink and blue coloured room in a box with some drinks on the table in front of us. Again and again music was heard around, but only in a silent way, so that no one had to shout at their friends too much. It wasn't a club after all. A few people were standing in the open space and others were sitting at the bar where I planned to go.
"I'm going to the bar," I announced to the others, though I doubted they noticed me saying anything as all of them were part of small conversations. I got up from the table and headed to the only one empty bar stool I could see. I went to greet a familiar face. Sitting there I sipped the drink I had in my glass while waiting for the brunette behind the bar to serve the guy nearby.
"Dude, how was today's race?" Dami smiled at me, wiping a glass she had grabbed on the way to me. I giggled:
"Well, I would say good. You're looking at the winner."
"Nice. I guess Anya was right behind you," she blurted out. Dami and Anya knew each other as they both lived near each other as kids and Dami used to go cheer at the races when she had time. Unfortunately she had a shift tonight.
"Yeah. She wasn't happy about that," I nodded.
I chatted with her there for a while. About some news. About everything. She had to serve other customers from time to time, but she always came back to the counter opposite me to learn something new or to tell me something interesting. I returned to the table after a long time. And I felt like going back to the bar right away.
Yuki obviously hadn't been drinking for a long time and he finally could today. And he drank enough. Too much. So did the two and Zayd. I watched them with a twist of my head. Arno and Mali were joking about it for a while, but then they went back to discussing about something unknown to me.
"No," I shook my head disapprovingly.
The four of them were in quite a good mood. I mean, already behind it. Yuki still looked like he was still quite okay, but we doubted they would make it home safely. Or at least alive. And so we started arguing about what to do with them.
Mali immediately refused to take anyone in with her. She held back for a long time before agreeing to take Yuki as he was the only one of them she knew for longer time. But I also thought about that, because he was the only one I didn't mind. However, I obviously decided too late. And Arno declared that he only had room for two more people. At that moment I snapped at him that he could let them sleep on the ground. I tried to get out of this situation completely.
Unfortunately, the worst happened when we got out of the bar. Arno was suddenly on a roll with Zayd and Ander. At first, I didn't realize how bad the situation I was in was, but then I turned my head to the side and watched two other people trying to get away. How lucky I was.
"Uhh," I heard someone trying to say something on the ground next to me.
I looked down at Damien, who remained. Unfortunately, Arno was already too far away and Mali was only able to take one with her. I sighed and wondered in which part of the garage I should throw him on the floor.
I somehow helped him up and with his arm around my shoulder and mine around his waist I tried to take him to the garage. I thought some fresh air and a walk would be good, so we walked instead of taking the train. We would probably get off the train at the next stop anyway as it wasn´t too far away.
For a moment, I wanted to throw him somewhere along the way to the ground, because he kept making some annoying sounds that were probably supposed to be words. Fortunately, he stopped after a while and I could listen to the rather pleasant silence. What a relaxing music for my ears.
When we finally got to the garage I unlocked and opened the door and then we walked up the stairs still in the dark. I thought it was completely unnecessary to turn on the light for such a moment as I knew the place well. We were immediately upstairs, where I took the moron to a room connected to the kitchen. Calling it living room wouldn´t be bad, but I didn't know if that one was accurate enough.
Actually, it was all one room separated by a piece of wall. On one side was a small kitchen, on the other was a couch and a table. And a few shelves. Not much, but it was enough. So I let Damien fall on the couch and pulled out some blanket and threw it over him. I didn't care anymore. In my opinion, I have already done more than enough for someone I barely knew and didn't even want to know.
Then I crawled into the room I lived in and pulled out a clean towel. I needed a shower. Also I felt like to have something cold. And so I went into the bathroom, which was on the end of the not anyhow long corridor. I locked it just to be safe, and then left my clothes on some kind of dresser. Then I happily hopped into the shower only to be shocked by the icy water a second later. Maybe I wanted a cold shower but this temperature was too much.
A few minutes later, I had already changed and done showering and went back to the kitchen, where I took some vegetables to eat. Maybe it could have seemed strange to someone, but it was okay to me. Others would probably have chocolate or something, but I ate that only during the day. Well, when there is any.
