"You shouldn't be looking at me that way, Arlene."

My cheeks begin to flush.

“Sorry. But you're attractive." That makes him giggle. Then I get an epiphany. "What age are you?"

“What?”

"I'm not sure how old you are."

"I'm a senior citizen. "You're far too old for me," he laments.

"But you seem to be considerably younger than my father."

He huffs but responds. "I'm 38 years old."

"However...Leonid is twenty-one."

“Uh-huh.”

I perform the math mentally. "Does that mean you were seventeen when you had Leonid?"

"Yes, he was only seventeen when he was born."

"That's rather young." And 38 does not seem to be too old.
