Chapter 7 - Basic Training

So there she sat, on the bed with her legs folded because the position was rather comfortable to sit in. Her eyes were closed as she tried to focus on the darkness within her mind.

The endless darkness that made up her very being.

As she did, her consciousness faded into her own mind— into a space of pure darkness where nothing else existed but herself and it.

It was oddly comforting to the girl.

Being alone was something she wasn't new to— in fact, most of the time she would much prefer to be alone in her past life.

So she found the darkness comforting— welcoming.

It was like she had a place for herself that no one could hurt her in— she would never have to fear anyone again within this space. It felt good.

Power— that was what it felt like.

She wanted this power not just within her own mind but in the real world too, and she knew that if she could learn to use this ability properly it would grant her such power.

So with this in mind, she tried to focus on the matter at hand rather than the feeling.

She first wanted to understand what being a Dark One would allow her to do.

Would it just grant her the power to control darkness? Or would it be more complicated than that— the skill did have a very roundabout explanation to it.

But she expected it to have a lot more than just that, after all the skill explained it as having control over all Dark aspects, including dark thoughts, dark creatures, and so on.

What she wanted to learn right now was a way to use the darkness in order to either move around or create a false impression that she was still in the room.

That would allow her to explore and learn without having to worry about being exposed.

And if she couldn't do that at the very least, she hoped she could learn how to read dark thoughts with it so that she could expand her knowledge while being limited to the room.

She wasn't sure how to start going about doing this— so she had to mess around for quite a while to figure it out.

Hours passed with her in her mind messing around with the darkness.

She was left alone without any disturbances since most assumed she was sleeping— plus they had no reason to disturb her most of the day.

This allowed her to freely spend all the time within her mind in order to attempt to master the skill— not growing tired since she was in a mental place.

And thanks to the amount of time spent trying to figure out the skills, she learned a few basic things about it— more notably how to use it and the limits it had.

For example, she learned that she could move shadows as she pleased— even being able to turn them into a solid form or back at will.

However, she also learned that any form the shadows took would be limited to her imagination and control over them.

If she tried to control too many shadows at once with her limited concentration, they would stop working and she would face issues.

She figured this might have to do with the mental status that was listed on her information panel that was currently at 8— so she would need to figure out a way to improve that eventually.

Another thing she learned was that she could use darkness to create illusions as long as the illusion she wanted to make was clear within her mind— and she can supply it with energy for as long as it's active.

One downside of this illusion however was that anything that touched it would break the illusion since it had no physical form to it.

But that was good enough for her— it solved one of the most prevalent questions she had in her mind about getting out of this place.

She also tried to learn of a way to travel through the darkness in order to teleport, but she wasn't able to do it currently.

Yes, that's right, currently.

Because while she was trying to do it, she ended up phasing into the darkness and hiding her body within it— however, she couldn't move within the darkness, as of right now, without it causing a large mental strain.

'So I can travel through the darkness in order to get around, which would be useful in getting out of this place. However, in order to do so, I need to improve my mental capabilities. So finding a way to do that would be best.'

She thought to herself as she opened her eyes for the first time in hours— finding herself still sitting on the bed in her lotus position.

She stood up from the bed and stretched her muscles, but this wasn't known to the people that was monitoring her from the other side of the glass.

'This is interesting— so as long as I don't make it complicated it doesn't take a lot of energy.'

She thought to herself as she used her ability to engulf the room in darkness and create a false illusion that she was still sitting on the bed.

In the same position, she had been sitting in for the last few hours— that way the people wouldn't see that she was actually moving around.

For the first time in a while, she was able to actually put some effort into training her body— which was another thing she wanted to do before starting Hogwarts.

She had no intention of being like most of the wizards and witches in this world that lacked any physical capabilities and had to rely on their magic to survive— dying easily without their magic.

She especially had no intention to end up looking as ugly and fragile as Voldemort had— even if he may be her father.

So with that thought in mind, she got to work doing some basic exercises.

She stretched her body properly before doing any of this so as to not damage her muscles.

She was, after all, still in the body of a young child that was developing, putting too much of a strain on it would be a bad idea.

It could limit her growth, which she didn't want.

So after a good stretch, she started to work out her body— basic stuff.

Jogging around the room, swinging her arms side to side, even some jumping jacks here and there to build up a sweet.

She didn't do any sit up, pushups, or any other strenuous workout quite yet since she wanted to build a solid base before straining her body with such things.

After all, her body— unlike her mind— was still that of a nine-year-old child.

So— she started a new habit every day for at least an hour a day.
