It's here! The final chapter (and I made it extra long). Please read and review. I'd love to know what you think!

Chapter 41 – Rated M

Erin lay in Jay's arms, their legs tangled together; only the throw on the couch covering their modesty. Erin's head gently rested on Jay's bare chest; listening to the soft gentle beating of his heart; her fingers gently tracing patterns on his chest.

Jay had one arm behind his head, acting as a pillow while the other was draped around Erin; his fingers gently running up and down her arm. "God you're beautiful!" He softly murmured; as if he didn't believe what had just happened between them.

Erin could help but smile as she looked up at him. "And you are full of cheese." She retorted before placing a butterfly kiss on his chest. She reached out for her shirt and sat up, pulling it on over her head. She pulled back the throw and stood up; Jay's eyes intently watching her.

She walked into the kitchen and got herself a glass of water before returning to the couch with the water in her hand. She sat down on the edge of the couch as she sipped the water.

"What do we do now?" Jay asked. Erin looked over at him; raising her eyebrow. "I mean when it comes to work...you know Voight doesn't allow in house romances...and neither of us want to leave intelligence."

"You know Tony would hire you back as his head of security, don't you?" Erin teased as she replaced the water on the coffee table.

"Yeah but then I'd be working long, hard days with Lara and...hey" Jay shot back only to have Erin smack his chest. He rubbed his chest. "That hurt."

"It wasn't meant to tickle." Erin retorted.

Jay pulled himself up into a sitting position and placed his finger under Erin's chin, forcing her to look him in the eyes. "I could have had Lara if I wanted." He stated. "But I chose you...and I will always choose you." He gently kissed her before resting his forehead against hers.

He heard her groan before she muttered. "Screw Voight!"

"Erin!" Jay laughed. He knew she could never say those words to Voight; she cared too much about his opinion.

Erin pulled back slightly to look Jay in the eyes and she sighed again. She reached out and gently stroked his cheek. "We always said maybe one day, right?"

"Yeah." Jay replied.

"Well maybe this could be our one day." Erin suggested. "24 hours of just you and me, the boyfriend/girlfriend experience and come midnight...we go back to being partners, professional first and foremost. What do you think?"

Jay paused for a moment. "I think we are going to get very little sleep." Jay replied, grinning his trademark grin as he pulled Erin on top of him.

Erin giggled and gave him a quick kiss before pulling back. "As much as I want to go for round 2...can we take it to the bedroom?" She asked.

"The couch suddenly not good enough for you?" He teased.

"It's not that it's just..." Erin began to say but paused. "...if we keep doing this here, watching the game with you is never going to be the same again. And whatever happens after these 24 hours, I don't want to lose our game night."

Jay nodded; his thumb gently tracing her lips before softly kissing her. He knew what she meant; there would be moments in this apartment reserved for girlfriend/boyfriend activities but other moments such as watching the latest Bulls or Blackhawks game had defined their partnership and friendship that were untouchable.

"C'mon, let's go!" He stated, getting off the couch and scooping Erin up over his shoulder and carrying her towards the bedroom; Erin giggling as her eyes lingered on the view of his perfectly formed bare ass.

A long slow moan escaped Erin's lips as she rotated her hips, straddling Jay; his throbbing manhood deep inside her folds. Jay thrust his hips up into her as his hands massaged her breasts; his fingers occasionally pinching her nipples; making her moan even louder. She leaned back, her arms supporting her on either side of Jay's legs as he continued to thrust into her; his hands gripping her ass. She knew she was close.

Jay sat himself up as he continued to thrust, wrapping one arm around her waist while his other supported his weight. He leaned into her, his lips beginning a trail of kisses down her neck, towards her collarbone, down her chest until his lips smothered her nipple, his teeth gently nipping her.

"Aaahh Jay!" She groaned; her body begin to convulse as the orgasm overtook her. Jay had to tighten his hold on her as her body pulled back; becoming limp as the pleasure surpassed her. He removed his lips from her nipple and pulled her close.

Erin wrapped her arms around his neck as her lips crashed onto his; her tongue hungrily demanding entry that he quickly granted. She smiled as he groaned in her mouth; his own body beginning to shudder as he came; their lips never parting.

They fell back onto the bed; still in hold; not losing their connection. After a few moments; Erin pulled back; using her arms to hold her up; her eyes locked with Jay's. Jay reached up and brushed a strand of hair that fell into her face back behind her ear.

"So that was..." Jay stated, panting between each word.

Erin couldn't help but smile as she leaned in and give him a quick kiss. "I know." She retorted, before sliding off him and flopping down into his waiting arms. She cuddled into him; wrapping her arm around his waist; not bothering to cover her body. She normally wouldn't let herself be so exposed; she always felt awkward but not with Jay; it felt perfectly natural.

She could feel his fingers trace circles on the side of her waist and it comforted her; reminding her of those mornings when they woke up at the apartment in his arms and how he used to stroke her arms.

"I can't believe even in the bedroom you still have to be in the driving seat." Jay teased, kissing the top of her head. He was making reference to her need to be on top.

She looked up at him. "You know I like to be in control." She replied. "But what I like even more is how you let me believe that I am in control when I am so clearly not when it comes to you." She stretched herself up to him and softly pressed her lips against his.

They slowly parted, their foreheads resting against each other. Jay gently stroked her cheek as he gently rubbed noses with her. "I could kiss you forever." He softly whispered.

"We haven't got forever." Erin reminded him; returning to her original position in his arms. "This is a one day thing, remember?"

"Yeah, remind me how we thought that was a good idea?" Jay retorted.

Erin sighed and pulled herself up to a sitting position. She turned to face him. "Do you want to give up your job in intelligence?"

"You know I don't." Jay replied.

"Well then this is the way it has to be." She simply stated. "Please don't spoil it yet...that's what midnight is for."

Jay sat up and quietly nodded; his arm reaching out; his hand cupping the back of her neck. "Okay, I'll kiss you to midnight." Erin smiled softly as he gently pulled her into him; his lips softly encasing hers.

Jay stood in his kitchen, wearing a t-shirt and a pair of boxers, chopping vegetables to toss into the chicken he was stir frying. He could hear Erin's soft footsteps walking across his wooden floor as she exited his bedroom and headed towards the kitchen.

"Did you enjoy your shower?" He asked, not even looking up as he concentrated on his chopping.

"Um huh." She sighed, entering the kitchen. "I thought you would have joined me...at least I wanted you to join me." She wrapped her arms around his waist from behind and cuddled into him.

He stopped chopping momentarily, enjoying her embrace. "I'm sorry but hunger took over." Jay replied. "I will make it up to you after I fuel up...I promise."

"Oh you bet you will." She teased, still keeping her arms wrapped around his waist "So um, were you expecting me to call over for a shower?"

"You know I wasn't." Jay replied, tossing the chopped vegetables into the sizzling frying pan of chicken.

"So you just keep my brand of shower gel here for emergencies?" She teased, stepping back from him and hopping onto the counter between the fridge and the sink.

He quietly laughed. "Funny story...I did some shopping yesterday when Antonio dropped me off and I guess old habits die hard because I bought some of the essentials from our days of being 'married'." He replied, finally turning around to face her.

His jaw dropped slightly as he saw her, wearing only his black hoodie and nothing else. Was she really sitting on his kitchen counter without any panties? Had she any idea how sexy she looked with her wet hair swept back and only his hoodie saying her modesty?

"Well that explains the Pop Tarts." Erin stated, lifting up the box sitting beside the fridge before replacing them again. "I guess I really did train you well, huh house husband?" She was smirking, teasing him.

"You look so good in my hoodie." He stated, walking towards her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her forward to the edge of the counter, forcing her to open her legs and expose herself as he stepped into her.

"Just so you know, I'm keeping it." She softly replied, her eyes on his lips as her breathing slowed and deepened.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Jay replied, his breath also slow and deep as he gently grazed her nose with his before hungrily crashing his lips onto her lips.

Erin half sighed/half groaned as she gave into him; his strong arms gripping her tighter; pulling her into him. She could feel him harden against her folds. She slipped her hand around the waistband of his boxers and freed him; her fingers gently teasing his hardened manhood. She felt his groan within her mouth.

She wrapped her legs around his waist while her arms wrapped around his neck. She felt Jay lift her up ever so slightly off the counter and tilt her back, using the counter to support their weight. He entered her in one swift movement, causing Erin to dig her nails into him as she cried a loud, slow moan.

Their lips parted as Jay looked at her, his eyes full of concern; worried that he had hurt her. "Don't stop!" She breathlessly exclaimed in response; removing her arms from around his neck to grip the counter; offering their bodies more support as she grinded into him.

She threw her head back; knowing she was close to hitting her moment of ecstasy. After one last thrust from Jay; her body began to tremble as the pleasure overtook her. She could feel Jay's legs begin to give way as he finally came; his body convulsing as he let her back down onto the counter. He leaned on her; gently kissing her neck between his breathless pants.

"Jay...not...that...I want...to spoil...this moment but..." Erin began to say as she tried to catch her breath.

"Huh?" Jay asked, looking up at her between kisses.

"...but I think your chicken stir fry is burning." She finished saying.

Jay looked over at the cooker; the pan was filled with smoke and blackened chicken. "Shit!" He muttered; quickly pulling himself out of her to reach for the hob. He scooped up the pan and tossed it into the sink beside them.

"Aw, it smelt so good too." Erin teased; a smile on her lips as she sat her hands gently on his shoulders.

Jay stood before her; his hands on his hips. "Should I phone for Chinese?" He asked.

Erin softly laughed and nodded her head before gently pressing her lips against his for a loving kiss.

Erin and Jay were lying on the couch, the empty cartons of Chinese food and bottles of beer sitting on the coffee table in front of them. Jay was lying on his back; dressed in a t-shirt and boxers; his arms behind him, supporting his head; his head turned towards the TV, watching the Grinch.

Erin was laying half on top/half beside him; her head resting on his chest; her eyes focused on the TV; her fingers entwined in his t-shirt; her legs tangled in his. She was wearing Jay's black hoodie and a pair of his boxers.

Erin gave a soft quiet sigh. Jay looked down at her and removed one of his arms from behind his head; he reached out and gently teased one of her curls.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked; his voice filled with concern.

"Huh?" Erin asked, looking up at him; confused.

"You just sighed." Jay explained.

"Did I?" She asked. "Huh, sorry...I guess the guilt has set in."

"The guilt?" Jay asked; his mind beginning to panic. Did she regret their day together already?

"Yeah, it's Christmas Eve and I have to turn up at Voight's house tomorrow without any gifts." Erin replied. "As much as I am enjoying this boyfriend/girlfriend experience, I think we should have thrown some shopping into the mix."

"Erin!" Jay gently laughed; relieved. "You were on an undercover operation for most of December, I'm sure the lack of gifts can be excused."

"You're a guy!" Erin exclaimed. "Last minute shopping is excusable for you but..."

"And how do you know I am not prepared?" Jay shot back, interrupting her rant.

Erin sat up on the couch. "You've got Christmas presents?" She questioned, in shock.

"For the people most important to me, yeah of course." Jay replied, also sitting up. He had a smirk on his face; enjoying his moment of 'besting' Erin.

"You seriously bought gifts?" She asked again, not believing him.

"Before the operation even began." Jay bragged.

"You're bluffing!" Erin scoffed.

"Huh!" Jay muttered and got up off the couch. He walked into the bedroom; Erin's eyes following him from the couch. He returned a few moments later, holding a small black velvet box with a red bow on it. He sat down on the couch and gently sat the box in Erin's lap.

Erin's eyes fell on the gift, she looked back at Jay. "Did you seriously buy me a gift?" She asked, fighting the urge to smile.

"Like I said, I got gifts for the people most important to me." Jay replied. Erin chewed her lower lip; her eyes never leaving Jay's as her fingers gently stroked the small black velvet box on her lap. "Plus, I didn't want to be caught out this year..."

"Ha!" Erin exclaimed, excitedly swatting him with her arm. "So you admit it...the grenade you gave me was the only thing in your desk drawer that you could pass off as a gift calling it a 'paper weight'? You had forgotten to get me a gift?"

"Now, you said you loved the grenade." Jay replied, softly laughing.

"You know I do." Erin replied, her voice soft but serious; her eyes locked with Jay's. A few moments of silence had passed.

"So are you going to open the gift or not?" Jay asked, fidgeting on the couch; he suddenly felt nervous.

Erin smiled and focused her eyes on the box. She slowly opened the box; revealing a silver charm shaped as a grenade, with small diamantes defining the grooves of the grenade. "Jay..." She sighed softly, looking up at him.

"I know its a little lame." Jay began to explain. "It's just...when you took me to your high school reunion; I remember you wore this charm bracelet..."

Erin knew the bracelet he was referring to; it was the most significant and meaningful piece of jewellery she owned. Camille had bought it for her when she graduated high school, with a diploma scroll as her first charm. After that, Camille bought her a charm for every significant moment in her life; a house to symbolise the family and home they had created together; a car for when she got her first car instead of borrowing Voight's; a key when she moved into her first place; a pair of handcuffs when she graduated the academy and so on. She had forgotten she had even worn it that night of the reunion.

"Anyway...when I saw the grenade, it made me think of you...of us...because the grenade was the first thing I had ever given you and I don't know...I guess I wanted you to think of me too." Jay explained, becoming flustered.

Erin reached and gently stroked his cheek. She could see the concern in his eyes; she was fully aware that a tear had escaped her tear filled eyes. She wiped it away with her free hand. "I love it!" She softly said before gently brushing her lips over his.

"Really?" Jay asked.

She nodded. "And it will definitely make me think of you...of us...every time I look at it." She stated; her fingers on his cheek stretching out to tease his hair. She could see the mixture of happiness and relief in his eyes.

She slid her body over to sit on his lap, keeping her legs to the side of him. She wrapped her free arm around his neck while her other hand gently traced his face with her fingers. She could feel Jay's watching her but she was solely focused on his lips. She hovered over them; her nose grazing his; barely touching; almost kissing.

She could feel his beating heart slow; his breaths becoming measured and deep in anticipation; while she felt her own heart was about to explode out of her chest. Slowly, her lips finally made contact with his; in a slow but loving and tender kiss.

She could feel Jay grip her waist; his fingers slipping between the boxers and hoodie as the kiss deepened. She reluctantly pulled away and rested her forehead against his. She paused momentarily; gathering her words; her fingers gathering his t-shirt on his shoulder. "Take me to bed Jay..."She breathlessly stated. "...make love to me."

Jay pulled back to look at her, his eyes questioning her. She slowly slid of his knee and stood up; her eyes never leaving his; she held out her hand. "I want you to make love to me Jay...I want us to make love." She stated.

Jay slowly slipped his hand in her and stood up; following her as she led him towards the bedroom.

Erin slowly opened her eyes and rolled onto her side to find Jay; lying on his stomach; sound asleep. She softly smiled; her mind replaying what had just taken place; it was so different to the other times they had sex. There was nothing fast and frantic; there was no desperate need; they had taken it nice and slow; savoured ever moment; covered every inch of their bodies with kisses; they didn't have sex; they made love.

She glanced at the clock on Jay's bedside table; it was 11:58pm. She knew that their day was over; that she should be getting up and dressed; preparing to leave but as she looked at Jay, peacefully sleeping; she knew she couldn't go anywhere.

"Maybe one more day." She quietly thought as she leaned over and softly kissed his back before lying back down. She cuddled into him and closed her eyes; preparing to go back to sleep.

Erin and Jay pulled up outside Voight's home. As soon as Erin put the car into park, she turned to face Jay. She could tell that he was silently freaking out. He had been freaking out since he woke up to find her still in his bed. She had let him believe that she had fallen asleep and missed their midnight deadline.

Then she talked him into joining herself, Voight, Nadia and Antonio for Christmas dinner. She convinced him that carpooling was good idea and even got him to go to her place so she could change. She could tell that his biggest worry was Voight; he never was very good at lying to him.

"Jay..." She began to say.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." He interrupted her, turning to face her.

"Jay, you're part of the intelligence family." Erin retorted. "Not spending Christmas with us would be a bad idea."

"You know that is not what I meant." Jay shot back. Erin chewed her lower lip, stopping her urge to grin. "It is going to look really suspicious that we've turned up here together."

"Jay, we arrive at a lot of things together." Erin reasoned.

"Yeah...but now I've seen you naked...a lot!" Jay replied. "He's going to be able to tell."

Erin quietly laughed. "Jay! You were always going to face him at some point after our 'one day'." She pointed out.

"Yeah but I thought I'd have the whole of Christmas break to forget I ever saw you naked, that we ever did anything." Jay reasoned.

"Jay, you'll never forget it." Erin teased.

"Don't I know it!" He sighed.

Erin couldn't help but smile. "Just get out of the car." She ordered.

Jay groaned and reluctantly stepped out of the car; revealing his jeans and blue snowman jumper under his black leather jacket. Erin couldn't help but laugh when she first saw him in the jumper. Apparently the mother of one of his old Ranger buddies knits him a Christmas jumper every year to thank him for making sure her son made it home alive from Afghanistan and Jay always feels obligated to wear it on Christmas Day.

Erin quickly followed him out of the car; smoothing down her red dress before heading down the pathway towards Voight's front door; Jay close behind her.

Jay reached up and scratched his head as they stopped at the front door and Erin rung the doorbell. "What? No key this time?" He teased.

"I didn't want to make you uncomfortable." Erin replied, quickly glancing at him.

"Like it could get any worse." Jay muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Jay...you had to be here to get your Christmas present." Erin stated, with a small smile as she looked over at him.

"My Christmas present?" He repeated; confused; just as Nadia pulled open the door.

"Happy Holidays!" Nadia exclaimed automatically before her eyes fell on Jay. "Jay! You made it." She quickly engulfed him in a hug; ignoring Erin; causing Erin to roll her eyes and accept a welcome hug from Antonio instead.

"Yeah um Erin talked me around." Jay replied, stepping back out of Nadia's hug.

"Glad you're here man." Antonio stated, giving him a slap on the back.

"Thanks." Jay muttered; his eyes focused on Voight a few feet away; leaning up against a door frame; holding a bottle of beer in his hands.

"Erin, you made it..." Voight said, giving Erin a tender hug."...and you brought Halstead."

"Yeah." Erin replied, reaching behind and pulling Jay forward to stand beside her. She slipped her hand in Jay's hand. "Can't I bring my boyfriend home for the holidays?"

Jay gulped. Had he just heard her right? Did she just call him her boyfriend? The squeak coming from Nadia seemed to confirm it. He could feel Erin's grip on his hand becoming tighter. He looked Voight in the eyes trying to read him, but it was impossible. Voight took a sip of his beer.

It seemed like time had stopped but in reality, only a few seconds had passed before Voight spoke. "Your boyfriend huh?" He stated, looking at Erin. Erin nodded; suddenly feeling 16 again. He looked over at Jay. Jay swallowed hard. Voight held out his free hand for Jay to shake. Jay took it. "Welcome to my home Jay."

"Thanks...sir." Jay replied; still in shock about what had just taken place. Voight nodded his head and headed back into the sitting room; quickly followed by Nadia who was beaming as she passed them and Antonio, who squeezed Jay's shoulders as he passed; also smiling.

Jay turned to Erin; his mouth gaping; still not comprehending what had just happened. "Did you just..." He trailed off.

"Yeah I did." Erin replied; looking and sounding sheepish. She shrugged her shoulder. "Did you like your Christmas present?"

"Yeah...yeah I did." Jay replied, giving her his trademark grin. Erin smiled and stood on her tiptoes to kiss him but Jay pulled back. "Ah no...not in Voight's home. Let's not push our luck." He walked away grinning, into the sitting room.

Erin groaned before softly laughing; following Jay into the sitting room. "Maybe one day..." She silently thought with a smile.

The End!

Okay...I know some of you will probably be wondering why am I ending this fic here? The truth is, I find it really hard to write happy lovey-dovey couples. It's not who I am unfortunately so I have decided to quit while I'm ahead. An epilogue will follow...I am in the process of writing it so hopefully that will give you all some closure.

I really enjoyed writing my first ever Chicago PD fic and it was longer than I expected. I only ever expected the undercover op to last a few chapters but because of the response it became the main arch of the story so thank you all to everyone who reviewed and supported this fic. I hope you all take this opportunity to review this chapter and tell me what you think of the story as a whole as I'd love to know what you think (and be truthful...I can take it). Thanks again!
