The Difficult Choice Of Character Customization

"Dungeon Lord"

[Confirm Choice; Dungeon Lord]

"Confirm"

Soon as he cemented his choice the copy of him disappeared, instead only an outline of it remained while names of various nine different races appeared under it

[Human Race Unavailable to Dungeon Lord]

"They did not leak this info, not that I was going to choose it"

Ingram already had a race in mind, but he did not immediately choose it, instead scrolling through the options to see how he would look in different forms

To start things off he looked at his orc self, producing a mean face with tusks for fangs, a dark green skin covering his entire body with tattoos here and there

The second was a hairy version of himself, not in a bad way, but rather cute with two animal ears coming out the top of his head, he looked to be a mix between a tiger and a human

"Ew"

Next up was a very different looking face than his own, sharing only the light blue eyes but almost nothing else with how ghastly his scaled body became, jaws drawn forward with jagged teeth protruding out, a face only a mother would love

"I bet even my mom would smack me with a shoe if she saw me like this"

Not that she could be blamed; the Scorned was clearly a thing of nightmares, just the realistic maw vertically cutting through the chest was already enough fuel for nightmares

To appease his hurt eyes he took a look at two rather basic forms, Elf and Dwarf, which seemed like a handsome version of himself followed by a rough one

"I would have loved to choose this one"

He spoke looking at the soft scaled, fin bearing merman version of himself, still retaining his now much longer hair, making him realise just how scary he looked with and without hair

"I should buy better shampoo…"

With such thought bogging his mind he scrolled through the next two quickly, a Titan which almost doubled his height and…

"? Wait, this wasn't in the trailer?"

Which brought to his attention that there were nine options when human was not one of them, meaning there was an extra race

"Why wouldn't they tease this?... Maybe it's a hidden option for dungeon lords?"

That certainly was a possibility, more like compensation to even out the options

The thing before him was another scaled creature, only this time it had horns nestled in that light brown hair, wings of half his height's span extending backwards, while claws made up the end of his hands and beast like feet

"Aerouant? So a dragon type"

This option did not bode well for Ingram, since the next race, the one he wanted to pick, just happened to be chosen for a reason much related to this new option

When he switched to the last one he came face to face with a feathered version of himself, with small wings hanging out the waist like two tails, arms wreathed in feathers on the side as well as a long whip like tail extending from a headdress crowning his head, this was the Avian race, the only flying race in the game, until this Aerouant poped up

"Clearly the dragon race is much more fit for a dungeon lord, but.."

He wanted to come up with an argument as to why he should choose Avian over it but clearly couldn't, Aerouants had a much better build and could also fly, the main point he was after

"I don't know anything about any races buff or debuffs though, so if I must choose I will go purely on cosmetics"

With that being his basis for choice he quickly went with the Avian, after all he was sick of using domineering characters from other games and wanted to go for something rather elegant for this one

[Please adjust Apearance]

A brush came to being, as well as a canvas filled with colours, even words, where he freely change his body, or at least that is what he assumed

After fiddling around for a while however he found that aside from colours the height, weight, and facial features were very limited, allowing minor adjustments, not that he wanted to do much to begin with

"I can adjust my height to a maximum of ten centimetres?... Do I dare?"

When he recalled all the hurling he went through in another game after making himself taller, the dissonance between his in game character and his real life almost made him dizzy every time he woke up, as such he was afraid of making the same mistake

"Well, the game proudly announced its new features allowed a seamless playthrough, which is why they added Titans to begin with… won't hurt to try"

His flamboyance getting the better of him Ingram quickly increased his height by ten centimetres, allowing him to reach a hundred ninety four, almost a two meter tall fellow at this point

After that he mixed in some gradual progression of white features into the original light brown to add some texture, leaving almost everything else as it is

{Generating Trait]

Suddenly the figure disappeared, replaced by a spinning wheel that had hundred of choices on it, so much so Ingram got dizzy just trying to follow the plethora of colours

"I am fine with anything, anything but a common, even uncommon is okay"

He already knew of this trait thing, a unique system only to dungeon lords that replaced the class system of the explorers, though the latter could advance while the former would forever remain the same, which was why he hoped to get anything but a common Trait

By the time the wheel started slowing down a great deal Ingram heaved a breath of relief, there were no commons in the block the pointer was coming to a stop at, only rares, a single legendary, and a Unique

There was an audible gulp made by him as the pointer snail paced at the legendary, pushing against the borders and almost failing, only to slide toward the next one, a pink coloured Unique Trait

"Well, it's no legendary or epic but I will take it, Uniques should be, well, unique enough"

It was said that like classes, unique traits were only available to those who acquired them, thus they were limited, though unlike classes the traits numbered about ten thousand, a large number, though decimal compared to the even larger player base

"Was it a five per cent chance to get one? Just because it is first come first serve"

While Ingram gloated at this fortune he saw the description of the trait

[Merge: Allows the combination of various forms within the same Rank to achieve a higher or variant form]

"? Sounds really interesting, so like, I can merge my creatures or something?"

If that was true then it was more than interesting, it was too exciting to think about, the possibilities of what he could make were near infinite, well, if there were no imposed limits within its features

He would see for himself so there was no need to guess at its functions, only one step remained before he dove into the new world

[Choose Starter Monster]

More than a dozen creatures came to be making the small room much too crowded, they were all still however, like lifelike statues in a showcase

"So many?"

Now he knew he would be able to choose his starter monster but the exact types were not included in the many game teasers so it came as a surprise to be presented with this many options

At a glance he could recognise many of the weak mobs seen in other fantasy games, goblins, Imps, kobolds, even blood bats were included

This time he had to think, his choice hinged over not aesthetics, but compatibility with his unique trait

"If it's merge then…"

Ingram looked over the half human sized goblin, if they were anything like the goblins in other games then they would make for great merge material, what with the versatile paths they could take on and the possible evolutions

That being said he knew they were not the best starter for him, since he noted a certain monster that could prove to be an even better choice, and how could he not with its larger than normal size

"I really want to go with goblins but…yeah, I should take the one offering quickest growth for me"

And so he chose this not so likable creature, confirming his choice for the final time before the world spun around once more, spirling him into a new home
