Luke twisted the door handle and pushed. The door opened and Luke walked in. The door wasn't locked and that only happens when Obed is at home.
Luke hadn't even entered the apartment when he sighted Obed in the sitting room with a lot of meat in his front.
With unexpected speed, Luke slammed the door shut and appeared close to Obed.
As if knowing what would happen, Obed had already pulled the bowl of meat into his arms, hugging it tightly.
Luke kept nudging Obed. "Hey, come on. Just one or two won't affect the bowl. I won't take more than you're willing to offer…"
Obed dropped the bowl back on the table and sighed. "Fine. One or two isn't much."
Luke eyed him for a moment and smiled. "Maybe a few more?" Luke asked.
"No way. There's no way you're having more than five." Obed refused but when he heard his mistake, he tried to correct himself before Luke caught on to it. "I mean two."
Luke grinned. "Now, don't go back on your words. Five is the maximum you gave me and I intend to follow it." Luke dipped his hand into the bowl and took out the first one.
He bit out of it and chewed. "What animal is this?" Luke asked when he noticed the meat was better than he expected and that the taste was oddly familiar.
"It's the meat of a uhm…" Obed tried to recall the name of the animal and when he couldn't, he tried another method. "Remember the animal that you kept hunting during your training?"
Luke nodded.
"Yep, that's the one. I don't know where we'll be going for the training but I'm sure that beast would be there. I wanted to get a taste of it before we head there."
"Pretty smart. I hate to bring it to you, but we'll be heading to the same place I went last time. Also, where's the result from the test and the license?" Luke stretched his palm to receive them.
"They withheld my results saying it was quite complicated and they would need better assessments." Obed explained but he seemed to be complaining.
"Our Obed's test results are now too complicated for them to assess. Pretty sure you'll do great in the future." Luke laughed.
"Yeah. That's what I thought too. From what I've heard, only people with extraordinary potential and talent get their results withheld for further assessment." Obed raised his head high in pride.
Luke nodded. Obed's fake complaint was just so he could end up boasting to him so Luke decided to also mess with Obed. "All the more reason why I won't take the test. Sooner or later, your results would come out and you'll be the talk of the whole District or even the whole city. Those who don't want such potential blooming will come after you to cut you off early."
The meat in Obed's hand fell to the ground, and the one in his mouth fell out. He walked to Luke, held him by the collar, and started shaking him as hard as possible. "You knew this and you still made me take the test. Now you'll be in the shadows while I'll be the one being hunted, huh? If it turns out to be true, I'll hunt you down before I'm hunted."
Luke kept a dumb look on his face as if he was being accused of something he didn't do. "Calm down. We won't stay idle before the test results are out and your identity won't get released until you go back there for the test result. That's good because we can decide to delay it as much as possible."
Luke grinned and tapped on his chest. "And if someone finds out before the release and comes looking for you, I'll deal with them so I don't see the need to worry so much."
Luke stretched his hand again. "Where's the license then?"
"Ah, sorry…" Obed pulled out a small silver card from his pocket and placed it in Luke's palm. "I got the highest rank within Tier Seven." Obed smiled.
Luke received the card and investigated its details.
{Awakened Chosen Consortium
Name: Obed Vadir
Tier: Seven
Grade: A
Date Issued: 14th, 06, 1220 S.Y}
Those were all that was written on the front of the card. Luke turned to the back and nothing was behind. "Pretty classy. What the hell? A grade A? I don't know what that means but I know I wasn't a grade A few days after I awakened." Luke kept ranting about.
He thought back to his fight with the Forever Gang. "Or maybe I was?" Luke smirked.
Luke returned the card to Obed. "We'll be leaving tonight. Or is that too tiring for you?" Luke asked.
Obed nodded. "Yup. I'm already too tired to make dinner."
Luke sighed. 'So, he really didn't make dinner.'
"That's why I bought these on my way back." Obed patted his bowl of meat.
"You should get as much sleep as possible. We're leaving as early as four." Luke took four more lumps of meat from the bowl and walked into the kitchen to make something he would eat.
Obed rose from the ground and walked to the couch he liked most. "I'll go to sleep once I'm full."
Luke put on the fire. He was going to make something he would eat. "That's great then. I'm hungry so I need to make something I'll eat."

Someone called out to another person from behind. "Hey there Kyne, we're heading to the portal by five. You should get some rest."
"I will Yord. I was just sorting my thoughts." Kyne replied.
"What thoughts?" The newcomer named Yord asked.
"It wasn't too long ago that I entered through that portal and got trained by another newbie. I just wish we would somehow meet again." Kyne sighed. The person he was referring to was Luke.
Unknown to both of them, the other was also heading to the portal the next day.
Yord patted Kyne on the shoulder to comfort him. "Cheer up, you'll get to see him one way or another. Might not be on this journey but you'll cross paths eventually. You should focus more on the journey just ahead of us."
"Yeah, thanks Yord. We'll meet one way or another." Kyne stood up, patted his butt to get rid of the dust, and walked away.
"Phew… I never imagined we would all be relying on Kyne to lead us into the training zone." Yord smiled. He seemed to have a good history with Kyne.
"I didn't even imagine he would be the first one to awaken." A female voice responded from one of the corners of the building.
The owner of the voice walked out and walked toward Yord. She was a tall beautiful woman with a scarlet red braided ponytail and eyes as red as blood. She had enough requirements to make men drool. "Since when have you been here Raela?"
She got to Yord's front and gave him a deep slow kiss that made Yord wrap his arms around her. She removed her lips and smiled. "Don't be in a rush."
"I'm not…" He replied. "...we're leaving by five so you should get some sleep."
"I'm not going to sleep alone." She protested.
"Then I'll gladly accompany you." Yord raised her and walked into the building with Raela in his arms.
